I'm getting records that are well beyond the GMB category that I choose. Mostly I get that category, but I'm finding a lot of oddballs that I'd love to not have to clean up.
Example: When choosing the following GMB categories, I get those AND the following ones:
Ones I specifically search for: Beauty salon Nail Salon Hair salon Used car dealer Chiropractor Tattoo shop Dog groomer

I apologize for late response. A single place can have multiple categories. If you choose used car dealer, then you may get a place whose main (first) category is different, e.g. car rental agency. You can find all categories of a place in categories property, which should contain at least one category that you chose. Hopefully this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks. Is there a way to get only businesses that have a certain GMB category as their primary category?

Unfortunately, not at the moment. Though we are working on a generic filtering solution, which would allow you to filter the results based on any property (including the main category). It will take some time for this to be released.
