Watch Google News for your company, your competitors, people, or any topic. Enter the search terms, and get one row per article: the headline, the outlet, the date, the publisher's own URL and domain, and a headline sentiment label.
Run it on a schedule with only_new on, and each run returns only the articles it has not returned before. An article you already have is skipped and not charged.
Rows are flat and snake_case, so they load straight into a spreadsheet, a CRM, a Slack alert, or a Clay table.
✨ Features
- Search terms in, articles out. Company names, brands, people, or topics; up to 50 per run. Google News search words work, such as quotes for an exact phrase,
OR, andsite:. - The publisher's own URL. Google News hands out news.google.com links. This actor turns each one into the publisher's real article URL and domain, so you can open, dedupe, and filter by outlet.
- Only new articles. With
only_newon, a run skips every article an earlier run with the samestate_keyreturned. The memory lives in a key-value store in your own Apify account. - One row per article. An article found by two of your search terms comes back once, with both terms in
matched_queries. - Headline sentiment.
positive, negative, mixed, orneutralfrom a fixed word list, so the same headline always gets the same label. - 30 country editions and any language code. Default US English.
- No key, no login. Public Google News pages only.

|---|---|---|
queries | list | 1 to 50 search terms. Required |
exclude_terms | list | Up to 20 words to leave out of every search |
since_days | string | Days back, 1 to 90. Default 7 |

Example:
{ "queries": ["\"Acme Robotics\"", "\"warehouse robots\""], "since_days": "7", "state_key": "acme-weekly" }
📤 Output
One row per article. Every row carries every field; a field that does not apply is null.
| Field | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
title | Claygent auto-mode: The right model for every task | Headline, without the outlet name Google appends |
outlet, outlet_domain | Clay, clay.com | From Google News, filled on every article row |
published_at | 2026-10-26T21:29:23.000Z | UTC |
publisher_url, publisher_domain | https://www.clay.com/blog/automode-for-claygent, clay.com | The article on the publisher's own site |
publisher_url_status | resolved | resolved, not_resolved, or off |
google_url | https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMi... | |
sentiment | neutral | Read on the headline only |

📏 Measured results
Measured on the private build on 2026-10-28, before launch:
| Run | Search terms | Articles returned | Publisher URL resolved | Run time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Prefill, 7 days | 1 | 5 | 5 of 5 | 3 s |
| Five company and topic terms, 14 days | 5 | 94 | 92 of 94 | 42 s |
The prefill again with only_new on | 1 | 0 (one free no_new row) | 2 s |
💵 Pricing
Pay per event. You pay for each article returned, plus a small start fee per run.
| Event | Free plan | Bronze | Silver | Gold |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Article returned (article-row), per article | $0.0023 ($2.30 per 1,000) | $0.002185 ($2.19 per 1,000) | $0.00207 ($2.07 per 1,000) | $0.001955 ($1.96 per 1,000) |
Actor start (apify-actor-start), per run | $0.0015 | $0.0015 | $0.0015 | $0.0015 |
- An article skipped by
only_newis not charged. A summary row is free, and so is the row for a refused input; the start fee is charged on every run that starts. - An article whose publisher URL could not be resolved is still charged, because the headline, outlet, date, and Google News link are delivered.
publisher_url_statussaysnot_resolved. - A run stops before any charge that would pass
max_charge_usd, and at the maximum cost per run you set in Apify. - Free Apify plan: 1.50 USD of evaluation a month for this actor, which is 652 articles at the free plan price. Any paid Apify plan removes the cap.
- The events above are all you pay. Mamba Labs pays the platform costs of your run, Apify proxy traffic included.
🚀 Usage examples
Weekly competitor watch. Schedule this input every Monday. Each run returns only that week's new articles.
{ "queries": ["\"Gong\"", "\"Outreach.io\"", "\"Salesloft\""], "since_days": "7", "state_key": "competitors-weekly" }
Leave out a name clash.
{ "queries": ["\"Mercury\" bank"], "exclude_terms": ["planet", "Freddie"], "since_days": "14" }
Clay. Call the actor from a Clay column with your company name column mapped to queries. Clay sends every field as a string, which this actor accepts.
API. POST https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/mambalabs~news-media-mention-monitor/runs with the input above, then read the default dataset.
MCP. The @mambalabsdev/mcp-news-media-mention-monitor server exposes the tool monitor_news_mentions to AI agents.
🔗 Calling this actor from another actor
Mamba Labs actors that need news call this actor by its Actor ID, gol1PPUKrsIk4QLBd, and read its default dataset. The input fields above and the output field names are stable: a rename is a breaking change and is announced first. Read row_type first: only article rows are articles. article_id is the dedupe key, and publisher_url is null when publisher_url_status is not resolved.
⚠️ Error handling
| Situation | What you get |
|---|---|
| Input with no usable search term, or a value of the wrong kind | One free row, row_status error, error_reason starting with input_invalid:. The run succeeds. No article is charged; the run start fee (apify-actor-start) applies, because Apify charges it when the run starts. A missing or empty queries list gets the same row |
| Nothing matched in the window | One free summary row, no_results |
| Everything matched was returned before | One free summary row, no_new |
| Google News did not answer for any term | One free summary row, blocked |
| A publisher URL could not be resolved | The article row is returned with publisher_url_status not_resolved |
| Anything else | One free summary row, error, with the reason |
⚠️ Limitations
- Google News returns at most 100 articles per search term, so a very broad term inside a long window is cut at 100. Narrow the term or the window.
- Google News decides what counts as a match. A short or common name matches unrelated stories; put it in quotes and add a word, or use
exclude_terms. - The publisher URL comes from a call Google News's own article page makes. Google can change it without notice; when it fails, the row says
not_resolvedand keeps the Google News link. - Sentiment reads the headline only, with a fixed word list. It is a sorting aid, not a judgment of the article.
- Article text and author are not read. The Mamba Labs Journalist and Media List Builder reads bylines.
