🔎 Find useful Reddit comments
Reddit Comments Search Scraper helps researchers, marketers, and product teams search public Reddit comments by keyword or phrase. Each saved row has the comment text, author, score, publish time, link, subreddit name, and post details, so you can see what people say and where they said it. No Reddit login is needed.
Common ways to use it:
- Find public comments that mention a brand or product with Reddit Brand Mention Monitoring.
- Export comment text and scores for sentiment work with Reddit Sentiment Analysis.
- Find problems people share in relevant subreddits with Reddit Customer Pain Point Research.
- Search comments for requests and product ideas with Reddit Feature Request Research.
- Track comments that name a competitor with Reddit Competitor Mention Tracking.
- Find recent comments about a topic or event with Reddit Trend Monitoring.
- Find what people recommend for a product with Reddit Product Recommendations.
- Find questions and topics people discuss to plan content with Reddit Content Ideas.
📦 What each saved comment includes
Each dataset row is one public Reddit comment. It includes the comment, its subreddit, the post it belongs to, and the keyword that found it. The full field list is in the Output section.
When the same comment is found more than once, the first eligible match is saved and later matches are skipped.
Some fields can be null when Reddit does not show the value. The Actor saves the public source data as shown and does not fill in missing facts.
🚀 Run a Reddit comment search
- Open the Input tab.
- Enter one or more keywords or phrases in Keywords or phrases.

The Actor needs no Reddit login, cookies, or user-provided Reddit API key. It searches public results only.
⚙️ Input
Input example
This example uses the default settings.
{"queries": ["openai"],"subreddits": ["ChatGPT"],"maxDaysOld": 1,"safeSearch": false,"sort": "new","maxComments": 25}
Input fields
| Field | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
queries | array of strings | Required. One or more keywords or phrases to find in public Reddit comments. Every keyword uses the same settings. |
subreddits | array of strings | Limits the search to these subreddit names, such as ChatGPT. Leave empty to search across Reddit. If you leave the field out, the Actor searches only ChatGPT. |
postUrl | string | Keeps only comments under one Reddit post. Paste the full post link from reddit.com. Leave empty to search every post. The subreddit list still applies, so clear it if the post is in another community. |
author | string | Keeps only comments written by one Reddit user. Enter the username without u/. Leave empty to include every user. |
maxDaysOld | integer | Keeps comments posted within this many days before the run starts. For example, 1 keeps the last 24 hours. Set to 0 to turn off the age filter. |
safeSearch | boolean | Asks Reddit to filter out mature (not safe for work) results where Reddit supports this filter. |
sort | string | Sets the order of Reddit search results: new (Newest), relevance (Relevance), or top (Top). |
maxComments | integer | Sets the most matching comments to save in this run. Leave empty to save all available matching comments until the source is exhausted. |

💳 Pricing
This Actor uses pay-per-event pricing. You are charged for each comment saved to the dataset. Empty searches and comments that are not saved do not create this charge. Use maxComments to control the most rows the run can save.
🔌 Integrations
Download results as JSON, CSV, Excel, XML, RSS, or HTML. You can also use the Apify API, schedules, webhooks, and supported integrations.
❓ FAQ
Can I scrape every comment from a post URL?
No. The Actor returns only comments that match your keywords or phrases. A post link in postUrl keeps matching comments under that post. It does not return every comment in a thread.
Can I search several keywords or subreddits in one run?
Yes. Add more than one keyword or phrase in queries, and add a simple list in subreddits. Every keyword uses the same settings, and the comment limit applies to the whole run. If searches overlap, the first eligible copy of a comment is saved only once.
How exact is the freshness window?
It uses each comment's publication timestamp and an exact rolling cutoff. For example, a one-day window excludes comments older than 24 hours at the time of the run.
Does it return deleted, removed, or private comments?
No. Removed, deleted, or unreadable comments are not saved as rows. The Actor searches public results only, so private communities and content Reddit hides from the public are not included.
Does it score, label, or classify comments?
No. The score field is the visible score that Reddit shows. The Actor does not label comments by sentiment or toxicity, and it does not classify them.
Does it keep history between runs?
No. Each run stands alone. The Actor does not keep history, compare comments across runs, or track changes over time.
Why are some fields null?
Reddit does not show every value for every search result. A missing source value stays null.
Do I need a Reddit account or API key?
No. The Actor does not ask for a Reddit login, cookies, or a user-provided Reddit API key. It also cannot post, reply, vote, or moderate on Reddit.
