Primary Use Cases
| Scenario | Description |
|---|---|
| Topic Clustering & Content Pillars | Discover semantically related keywords that do not share the exact seed phrase but belong to the same thematic category. Ideal for building topic clusters around a core theme (e.g., seed "content marketing" → get "SEO audit checklist", "email automation tools"). |
| Competitor Gap Analysis | Find keywords your competitors rank for (in the same category) that you haven't thought of, especially those that don't contain your typical brand or product terms. |
| New Market Opportunity Discovery | Explore adjacent product / service categories. For example, seed "running shoes" might return "orthotic insoles" or "marathon training plans" – revealing cross‑sell or content expansion opportunities. |
| PPC Expansion Beyond Exact Match | Identify low‑competition, high‑intent keywords that are not direct variants of your seed but share the same commercial category. Useful for discovery campaigns in Google Ads. |
| SEO for Broad‑Topic Websites | For websites covering a broad domain (e.g., "digital marketing"), the endpoint helps find all relevant subtopics without being limited to keywords containing the seed. |
| Initial Brainstorming for New Projects | When you have a vague idea of a niche (e.g., "plant-based diet"), the endpoint quickly generates a diverse set of category‑related terms (e.g., "vegan protein sources", "meat substitutes recipes", "plant-based meal delivery"). |
Target Audience
| Persona | Why They Use It |
|---|---|
| SEO Strategists | To build comprehensive topic maps, find hidden content gaps, and optimise for semantic search (not just exact‑match keywords). |
| Content Marketers | To generate fresh content ideas that stay relevant to the core theme but attract different search intents (informational, commercial, etc.). |
| PPC Specialists | To expand keyword lists for Discovery or Performance Max campaigns where broad‑match category discovery drives incremental traffic. |
| Product Managers | To understand what related products or services users search for when they are interested in the seed category. |
| E‑commerce Owners | To find cross‑category search terms (e.g., seed "wireless headphones" → "bluetooth adapters", "headphone stands") that can increase average order value. |
| Agency Analysts | To perform fast, scalable keyword landscape analysis for multiple client niches without manually guessing long‑tail variants. |
| Startup Founders | To validate market demand for a concept by exploring all category‑adjacent search behaviours before building a product. |
Comparison with Keyword Suggestions
Use Keyword Ideas when you want broad category exploration – you don't require the seed phrase to appear in the results.
Use Keyword Suggestions when you need exact‑phrase centric long‑tail expansion – every result contains the seed keyword (or its word order variant).
Example
