Get Wikipedia articles by title, URL or search term, in any language. Each row includes the title, short description, intro summary or full plain text, word count, Wikidata ID, main image, last edit time and daily page views, plus optional categories, linked articles and external links. Uses the official Wikimedia APIs. No login, no API key.

Who is it for?

  • AI and RAG builders who need clean, licensed text for knowledge bases and training data.
  • SEO and content teams researching topics, entities and internal links.
  • Marketers and analysts tracking public interest in brands, people or trends through page views.
  • Researchers and students collecting articles in bulk.

How to use it

  1. Add articles (titles like Retrieval-augmented generation or URLs like https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin).
  2. Optionally add search terms; matching articles are added automatically.
  3. Choose the language, turn on Include full text or links and categories if needed, and set Page view days.
  4. Click Start and export to JSON, CSV or Excel.

Input example

{"articles": ["Retrieval-augmented generation"], "searchTerms": ["large language model"], "language": "en", "includeFullText": true, "pageviewDays": 30}

Output example

{"title": "Retrieval-augmented generation", "language": "en", "shortDescription": "Type of information retrieval using LLMs", "wikidataId": "Q121362277", "wordCount": 1567, "summary": "Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) is a technique...", "pageviewsTotal": 33000, "pageviewsDailyAvg": 1100, "url": "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retrieval-augmented_generation", "license": "CC BY-SA 4.0 (text)"}

How much does it cost?

Pay-per-event: a small fee per article returned, plus a tiny per-run start fee, with no subscription and no separate platform usage costs. For example, 1,000 articles cost about $1. Missing articles are not charged. Set Maximum cost per run to cap your spending.

Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets. AI agents can find and call it through the Apify MCP server. Output is clean JSON with the same fields on every run.

FAQ

Is it legal? Yes. It uses Wikimedia's official public APIs, identifies itself with a User-Agent and keeps a polite rate, as Wikimedia's API policy asks. Wikipedia text is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0: if you republish it, credit Wikipedia, link the article (the url field) and share adaptations under the same license. Images can have their own licenses.

Which languages work? Every Wikipedia language edition. Set the language code (en, de, es, fr, ja...) or paste a URL from that edition.

How fresh are page views? Wikimedia publishes daily page views with about a one-day delay; the tool covers the days up to yesterday.
