UK CQC Care Quality Scraper
Scrape UK care providers from the CQC register, filtered by name, location, and rating. Every provider comes with its CQC rating, inspection report links, and contact details. No login or API key. Export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) publishes the official register of every regulated care provider in England, from care homes and home care agencies to GP surgeries and dentists. Their website is built for manual lookups, not bulk research. This Actor reads the public CQC directory directly, so you can pull hundreds or thousands of provider records in one run, each in a flat, analysis-ready row.
| Who uses it | What they scrape CQC for |
|---|---|
| Market researchers | Map the care provider landscape in a region or service type |
| Lead generation teams | Build a list of care homes or GP surgeries with their CQC ratings |
| Healthcare analysts | Track inspection outcomes and rating distributions over time |
| Compliance officers | Monitor providers that fall below a rating threshold |
What it does
This Actor collects CQC-registered care providers by search term and optional location, and returns each one as a flat row with its rating, inspection details, and contact information.
- ๐ Search by name or service type: query for "care home", "GP surgery", "dentist", or a specific provider name.
- ๐ Location and radius filter: centre the search on a town, city, or postcode and set a radius up to 100 miles.
- โญ Rating sort: order results by best or worst CQC rating, or by distance and relevance.
- ๐ Flat row output: each provider is one record with its rating, inspection links, and contact details, ready for CSV or JSON export.
Results export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML, or straight from the API.
What you can do with CQC data
๐ Map the care home market.
A market researcher runs the Actor with query "care home" and a city location to get every registered care home in that area, then filters by rating to identify high and low performers.
๐ฏ Build a lead list of GP surgeries.
A sales team scrapes all GP surgeries within 20 miles of a postcode, sorted by rating, and exports the contact details for outreach.
๐ Track inspection outcomes.
A healthcare analyst runs the Actor weekly for a set of provider names and compares the latest CQC ratings to spot downgrades or improvements.
๐ก๏ธ Monitor compliance risk.
A compliance officer scrapes providers rated "Inadequate" or "Requires improvement" in a region and flags them for follow-up.
Why choose this scraper
| What you get | |
|---|---|
| Official CQC data | Reads the public CQC register, the same source the regulator publishes |
| No API key or login | Works straight from the Apify platform with no CQC account |
| Scalable | Collect up to a million providers per run |
| Analysis-ready | Every provider is a flat row with consistent fields for CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML |
Configure the run
Drive the Actor from a search term and optional location, and set a maximum number of providers per run. Sorting and radius filters run as results are read, so only the providers you want reach your dataset. The Input tab lists every parameter.
A first run with the defaults:
{"maxItems": 10,"query": "care home"}
A larger pull:
{"maxItems": 200,"query": "care home"}
Pricing
Pay-per-result: $0.021 per result collected. You pay only for the results written to your dataset.

| 10,000 results | $210.00 |

Run it
- Create a free Apify account with $5 in credit.
- Open the UK CQC Care Quality Scraper.
- Set your inputs and any filters, then click Start.
- Export the results as CSV, Excel, JSON, or XML from the Dataset tab.
Run it programmatically through the Apify API (run-sync-get-dataset-items) or the ApifyClient for JavaScript and Python.
Use with AI agents (MCP)
Give an AI agent live access to CQC through the Model Context Protocol. Add the Actor to Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client:
$claude mcp add --transport http apify "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=parseforge/uk-cqc-care-quality-scraper"
Then prompt it in plain language to run the scraper and read back the results.
Troubleshooting
Why am I getting no results?
Check your query term. The CQC search matches provider names and service types, so try a broader term like "care home" instead of a specific name. Also, if you set a location and radius, widen the radius or remove the location.
Why are results missing some providers I know exist?
The CQC register only includes providers that are currently regulated in England. Providers in Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland are not listed. Also, check your radius and sort settings.
Why does the run stop before reaching my maxItems?
The Actor stops when there are no more results matching your query and filters. Try a broader query or remove the location filter to get more results.
Why is the rating field empty for some providers?
Some providers, especially newly registered ones, may not have a CQC rating yet. The CQC only publishes a rating after the first inspection.
Can I get the full inspection report text?
No, this Actor returns the link to the inspection report PDF, not the report content. You would need a separate PDF scraper to extract the text.
FAQ
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Does this scrape the official CQC website? | Yes, it reads the public CQC register at cqc.org.uk, the same data the regulator publishes. No login or API key is needed. |
| What data do I get for each provider? | Each row includes the provider name, CQC rating, inspection report links, address, phone number, and service type, depending on what the CQC lists. |
| Can I filter by location? | Yes, set a town, city, or postcode and a radius in miles. The Actor will only return providers within that area. |
| Can I sort by CQC rating? | Yes, choose "Rating (best first)" or "Rating (worst first)" in the sort option to order results by their overall rating. |
| How many providers can I scrape? | You can set a maximum of up to 1,000,000 providers per run. The Actor stops when it reaches that number or when there are no more results. |
| What output formats are supported? | You can export the dataset as CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML from the Apify platform. |
| Is this legal to scrape? | The CQC register is public data. You should review the CQC website terms and your own legal obligations before using scraped data at scale. |
| Do I need to set a location? | No, location is optional. If you leave it blank, the Actor searches the whole of England based on your query term. |
| Can I search for a specific provider name? | Yes, enter the provider name in the query field, for example "St Mary's Care Home", and the Actor will return matching records. |
| Does this include inspection reports? | The Actor returns links to the latest inspection report for each provider, but it does not download the PDF reports themselves. |
