Data Source Finder

Name a website, trade fair, register or document type, get the matching ready-made scraper with its fields, record count and run cost. Free; it searches the Perceptron Data catalog and says plainly when nothing fits.

Limits: covers the Perceptron Data actors only, not the whole Apify Store. A match on a general topic comes with low confidence – check the coverage text before running.

Data Source Finder output: the three default queries matched to the Messe München, kununu and TED actors with confidence, public run statistics and check time – run of 12 October 2026

How to use – step by step

  1. Click Try for free on this page (a free Apify account is enough) – the form opens with three example queries.
  2. Enter what you are looking for into What data are you looking for?, one per line: a web address, a fair, a register or a topic. Leave it empty to list the whole catalogue.
  3. Click Start. The three example queries took 1.6 seconds in a local test run on 12 October 2026.
  4. Open the Output tab: the Matches view shows each query with the matching actor, what it covers, the record count, the live price, the link and the confidence.
  5. Open the actor link and run the actor you found.

Why this exists

Finding the right scraper usually means opening a dozen store pages, guessing from titles and running one to find out whether it returns what you need. This finder answers that in a few seconds, for free.

Input examples

{ "queries": ["https://exhibitors.bauma.de/"] }
{
"queries": [
"anuga exhibitor list",
"kununu employer reviews",
"EU tenders IT services",
"medical devices MDR manufacturers"

Leave queries empty to list every covered data source.

}

Every row says when it was checked and where its facts come from: the actor's title, its prices and its public run statistics are read live from the Apify Store at the moment of your run (pricingSource, checkedAt); the record count names its source (volumeSource). If the Store cannot be reached, the finder uses a dated snapshot and says so in every row. A short summary of the run (queries, matches, where the prices came from) is stored as COVERAGE in the run's key-value store.

Prices are the Free-plan prices a new Apify user pays, with the lowest price on larger plans next to them. The start fee is charged per GB of memory, so it is shown at the actor's default memory — e.g. $0.04 for an actor that starts with 2 GB.

A newly published actor of this publisher appears in the full catalogue automatically (read from the Store), even before it has a hand-written entry.

How queries are matched

Words are matched as whole words — "TED" does not match "interested", "UDI" does not match "Audi". German plurals and word beginnings count (Stellenangebote, Ausstellerliste, Medizinprodukte), and a web address is matched by its host. Short forms that also mean something else count only next to a word of their subject: "MDR medical devices" finds EUDAMED, "MDR Sachsen" does not.

Missing your source?

If nothing matches, the run tells you so plainly instead of guessing. The catalogue grows whenever a new actor is published.

Changelog

  • 12 October 2026 – Words match as whole words ("TED" no longer matches "interested"); titles, prices and public run statistics are read live from the Apify Store at run time; the Research Agent and all 13 Koelnmesse fairs are in the catalogue; every row says when it was checked and where its facts come from.

FAQ

Is this really free? Yes. No start fee, no per-result fee. It reads its catalogue and the public Apify Store listing, so a run takes one to two seconds; only that platform time counts against your Apify plan.

Does it search the whole Apify Store? No. It covers the DACH- and EU-focused data sources maintained by this publisher. Field lists and coverage are written by hand; titles, prices and run statistics come from the Store at run time, with the time they were read.

What does "confidence" mean? high — your input names the exact source (a URL of that website, or the actor itself). medium — it names a fair, platform, registry or a specific term of the source. low — only a general topic matched; check covers and caveat before running.

What is caveat? A limit worth knowing before you run — e.g. the Impressum scraper reads the register number from a company's own website; it does not fetch Handelsregister extracts.
