Discover Apify Actor opportunities across the Apify ecosystem, compare demand and competition signals, and evaluate Actor ideas with clear scoring and a downloadable Excel report.

Choose Idea Analysis to evaluate a niche or existing public Actor, or Market Discovery to scan Apify opportunity families beyond scraping: automation, AI agents, data enrichment, monitoring and MCP tools. The Radar turns public Store data into a structured report in English or French.

What you get

  • Two modes: idea-based competitor analysis and ecosystem-wide Market Discovery.
  • Public market signals: visible user counts, recent activity and pricing information where available.
  • Opportunity scoring: a score out of 100, with points, percentages and explanations for each dimension.
  • Clear recommendations: Yes, Maybe or No, displayed in green, orange or red. French reports use Oui, Peut-être and Non.
  • Excel report: a formatted workbook with circular gauges, comparison bars, competitor data and a written conclusion.
  • Structured data: competitor records in the Dataset and a JSON report for integrations.

Who is it for?

  • Developers researching their next Apify Actor.
  • Agencies comparing automation opportunities for clients.
  • Entrepreneurs assessing competition before investing development time.
  • Teams reviewing a shortlist of Actor ideas.

How to use it

  1. Choose Idea Analysis to enter a theme or Actor URL, or choose Market Discovery to search the Apify ecosystem.
  2. For Idea Analysis, enter a theme or Actor idea, or paste an Apify Actor URL.
  3. For Market Discovery, optionally enter category queries; otherwise the Actor scans specialized scraping, automation, AI agents, data enrichment, monitoring and MCP tools.
  4. Choose English or French for the report.
  5. Set the maximum number of returned Actors, from 5 to 100.
  6. Use Quick analysis and click Start.
  7. Open the run's Output tab, then click Download the Excel report.

The workbook also remains available as REPORT_XLSX in Storage.

Example input

{
"theme": "restaurant reviews",
"keywords": ["restaurant ratings", "restaurant feedback"],
"analysisDepth": "quick",
"maxCompetitors": 25,
"includeIndirect": true,
"reportLanguage": "en"
}

You can also provide actorUrl instead of theme. In this mode, the reference Actor helps define the search and is excluded from the competitor list.

Market Discovery input

{
"mode": "market-discovery",
"marketCategories": ["automation workflow", "AI agent", "MCP agent tool"],
"analysisDepth": "quick",
"maxCompetitors": 25,
"reportLanguage": "fr"
}

Market Discovery eliminates any Actor with fewer than 100 visible total users. It gives priority to the intermediate 200–1,500 users range, while retaining higher-user opportunities for review. Missing user data are not converted to zero: those records are not eligible until verified.

How the score works

DimensionMaximum points
Visible demand25

Differentiation potential20
Economic value estimate20
Provisional feasibility and maintenance15
Total100

For example, a competition score of 20/20 means the highest score in that dimension, not 20 competitors. Fewer detected direct competitors generally increase this score. The report explains the observations behind it.

The opportunity score and evidence confidence are separate measures. Neither is a probability of commercial success.

In Market Discovery, the five score dimensions become visible activity, fit with the priority range, monetization signal, quality of available signals, and feasibility to audit. Market saturation, buyers, sales, margin and profitability remain unknown until a deep audit and field validation provide separate evidence.

Why can there be fewer results than requested?

The competitor limit is a maximum, not a guaranteed result count. The number returned depends on the search terms, available public Store records, deduplication and relevance filtering.

Languages and coverage

Reports are available in English and French. The search covers the worldwide Apify Store regardless of the selected report language.

Important limitations

  • This version analyzes public Apify Store data; it does not measure demand across the entire web.
  • Visible users are not confirmed paying customers, and competitor pricing does not establish revenue or profitability.
  • Competition classifications and opportunity scores are estimates that should be reviewed before a business decision. Store search data alone do not prove market saturation.
  • Evidence confidence is capped at 80/100 in the current version.
  • Technical feasibility is a provisional baseline, not an audit of each target website. Economic value and maintenance assumptions require further validation.
  • Deep is currently reserved for a future enrichment update and does not add a separate in-depth analysis. Use Quick for the current functionality.
  • An empty or incomplete result does not prove that no competition exists.
  • This report does not provide an official Apify Quality Score, Store approval or Partner Creator certification.
