MSN Finance Quote Scraper
Unofficial wrapper around MSN's own public finance API for real-time instrument quotes. No login or API key needed.
Unofficial wrapper around MSN's own public finance/money API. Returns real-time price quotes as structured JSON — no scraping, no HTML parsing, no login required.
What does MSN Finance Quote Scraper do?
Given one or more MSN instrument ids, returns each instrument's current price, day range, 52-week range, and multi-period returns (1-week/1-month/3-month/6-month/YTD/1-year) in one call. Covers stocks, indices, bonds, crypto, and commodities — anything MSN's own finance section tracks.
Why use MSN Finance Quote Scraper?
- Bulk lookups in one run — pass several instrument ids, get a row per instrument back, no per-symbol run needed
- Rich return data, not just a price — day high/low, 52-week high/low, and six different return periods come back on every quote
- No account needed — every call works fully anonymously
Use cases: market-data dashboards, portfolio price refresh jobs, price-alert bots.
How to use MSN Finance Quote Scraper
- Open the Actor's Input tab.
- Fill in
instrumentIds— one or more MSN instrument ids (see Input below for how to find one). - Run the Actor. Each instrument becomes one row in the dataset.
Input
| Field | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
instrumentIds | array of strings | Yes | MSN's own opaque instrument ids — not plain ticker symbols like AAPL. For example, a33k6h is the S&P 500 Index. Get real ids from a prior quote/detail response (most responses include related instrument ids for similar securities) or from MSN's own site. |
Output
One dataset row per requested instrument id, each the full quote object MSN itself returns: price, day range, 52-week range, multi-period returns, exchange code/name, display name, security type, and more.
Pricing
Pay-per-result, billed per quote returned. See the Actor's Pricing tab for current rates.
Known limitations
- Instrument ids are opaque and not guessable from a ticker symbol. There is no symbol-to-id lookup endpoint wrapped here — ids must come from a prior response or from browsing MSN's own site.
- This is an unofficial, reverse-engineered integration, not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft Corporation. Behavior may change if MSN changes its API.
