This username checker takes one username and shows, across Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, Threads, Snapchat, Pinterest, GitHub, Reddit and LinkedIn, where that handle exists, where it's still free, and a quick profile snapshot (followers, verified, name) wherever it's taken — in a single run. Use it to claim a brand name everywhere, to vet a creator's reach, or to audit a social media footprint without opening ten tabs.

What this username checker gives you: two things at once

  • Username availability — which platforms still have @yourbrand free (brand protection, launch planning, squatting checks).
  • Profile snapshot — for platforms where the handle exists, the follower count, verified badge, display name and profile URL.

Most free username search websites stop at "taken" or "available". This actor also tells you who holds the handle and how big that account is, as structured data you can export to JSON, CSV or Excel, schedule, or call from your own code through the Apify API.

Input

FieldWhat it does
handleThe username to check (with or without @). One per run. Required.
platformsWhich platforms to check. Defaults to all ten.

Example input:

{
"handle": "nike"
}

Leading @, surrounding spaces, slashes and capitals are cleaned up, so " @Nike/ " checks nike.

Output

The first row is a handle_summary (present-on, still-available, verified-on, total followers). Then one presence row per platform: exists, resolved handle, name, followers, verified, the public url, and platform-specific extras. A platform that can't be reached returns exists:false with an error so a single failure never sinks the run.

Output example

A real run for nike (all ten platforms). The summary row, the Instagram row and the Snapchat row are shown; the other platform rows have the same shape.

Use cases

  • Brand protection — claim your handle everywhere before someone else does.
  • Influencer / creator vetting — one person's reach across every platform.
  • Social footprint audits — a brand's presence and follower spread at a glance.
  • Naming a new product or company — run a shortlist of names, one run each, and keep the one that is free on the platforms that matter to you.
  • Agency onboarding — collect a client's existing profile URLs and follower counts in one table before you plan a campaign.

Follower counts are reported where a platform exposes them; some platforms return presence and profile identity but not a public follower number.

Username checker compared with the alternatives

OptionWhat you getWhere it falls short
Checking each site by handCertainty for one platformTen tabs per name, nothing to export
Free username search websitesFast taken/free badgesNo follower count, verified badge or profile data; no API or schedule
Large OSINT username tools (hundreds of sites)Very wide coverageMostly small sites; little profile detail for the big social networks
Single-platform checkers (Instagram only, Discord only)Depth on one networkYou need ten of them for a full brand check
This username checkerThe ten main social networks, availability plus follower reach and verified status, one row per platformOne username per run; checks public profiles only

Interpreting username checks

A negative check means the public source returned no profile or content for the input. It is not a guarantee that the username can be registered: accounts can be private, reserved, inactive, or temporarily unavailable. Check the platform itself before making a registration decision. If a source check fails, its row contains an error; that platform is excluded from platforms_available. Other platform rows are still returned, so you can review the completed checks independently.

Some platforms expose identity through content or search results. TikTok, X and Threads use recent public content, GitHub uses a repository owned by the handle, and Reddit uses posts matching the author. LinkedIn recognizes personal profiles only, with the exact requested profile slug or handle. It searches by name, so an existing slug can be missed; a negative LinkedIn check does not prove that the personal profile is absent. LinkedIn company pages are not checked. Pinterest likewise requires an exact username match. These comparisons ignore letter case. An unrelated search hit returns exists: false with null profile values and does not contribute to the follower total. The url field always contains the public URL for the requested handle. Missing follower or verification values remain null rather than becoming zero or false.

More input options

The concurrency input (1–5) remains accepted. You may select platforms in the order you want the output rows. Missing or empty platforms checks all ten sites. Repeated platform names produce repeated rows and repeated platform checks, as before. One run checks one username; use separate runs for different usernames. The legacy brand alias remains available when handle is empty. Unknown platform names are ignored. Legacy actor_ids overrides remain accepted, with a warning that the default sources are used.

Handles containing whitespace or a colon, or longer than 100 characters, skip the GitHub, Reddit, LinkedIn and Pinterest searches. Those checks return exists: false without a platform error; other selected checks still run.

Output fields

Each platform row preserves platform, queried_handle, url, exists, handle, name, followers, verified and extra. An error appears only when that platform check fails. The first summary row preserves platforms_checked, platforms_present, platforms_available, verified_on and total_followers. Only that summary row has _type: handle_summary. Platform rows also include source, profile_url and fetched_at, an ISO UTC timestamp for the check. Follower totals describe the delivered public snapshots and may change over time.

Pricing

The existing price is unchanged: $0.02 per run, plus $0.012 per delivered platform check. The summary row is not a platform check. A completed ten-platform run delivers eleven dataset rows and costs $0.14 for this actor. A negative result or a failed platform still counts as a delivered check, because its status is part of your result. A run with no delivered platform rows has no platform-check charge.

Users without a paid Apify plan receive at most ten dataset rows per run. With all ten platforms selected, that is the summary and the first nine platform rows, so nine platform checks are charged. The full platform list is checked before the delivery limit is applied; the summary describes that full set. Split your selected platforms across runs or upgrade your Apify plan to receive every row in one run.

FAQ

Does a missing profile mean the handle is definitely available?

No. It means no public result was returned. A platform may reserve the name or hide an account. Review errors and verify registration availability on the site.

Why are some follower counts null?

Not every source exposes a public follower number. Null preserves that distinction and does not mean the account has no followers.

How are LinkedIn and Pinterest search results matched?

LinkedIn searches by name and Pinterest searches users. A result counts as present only when its profile slug or username matches the requested handle, ignoring letter case. A different person's result gives exists: false and no profile values.

Can I check many usernames at once?

One run checks one username, so the summary row always belongs to a single name. To check a list, start one run per username, for example from a script through the Apify API or with a scheduled task, and merge the datasets.

Can I check only some platforms?

Yes. Pass the platforms you care about in platforms, for example ["instagram", "tiktok", "x"]. You pay only for the platform checks you request, and the rows come back in the order you listed them.

How do I export the results?

Every run stores its rows in an Apify dataset, which you can download as JSON, CSV, Excel or XML, or read through the API in your own code.
