USDA Organic Operations Scraper — Certified Organic Business Leads (Email, Phone, Products & Certifier)
Extract every USDA-certified organic operation from the official USDA AMS Organic INTEGRITY Database — the authoritative registry of organic farms, processors, handlers, distributors and brokers. Each record ships the fields lead-gen buyers actually want: operation name, contact person, phone, email, website, certifying agent, certification status, NOP scopes, business type, full address, and the complete list of certified products — plus a derived lead score.
No login, no cookies, no browser — fast bulk extraction from USDA's own public API with full coverage of all ~78,000 operations.
Why this organic operations scraper?
The Organic INTEGRITY Database is the single source of truth for organic certification in the US (and worldwide), but it lives behind a slow web app with no usable export. This actor pulls the official bulk dataset, joins every operation to its certified products, decodes the certification scopes and business-type flags, and ships the richest organic-operations dataset anywhere — ready for your CRM.

Use cases
- Lead generation — organic operations are active B2B buyers and sellers: they need ingredient supply, co-packing, certification consulting, packaging, logistics, software, insurance and financing. Target brokers, distributors, co-packers, private labelers and retailers by business type, then contact them directly via
email, phoneandcontactName. - Sourcing & supply discovery — find certified suppliers of a specific product (
productKeywordslikecoffee, hemp, beef, olive oil) in any state, with their certifier and product catalog. - Market & competitive intelligence — map the organic landscape by scope, state, certifier and product category; track who is newly certified, suspended or surrendered.
- Certifier prospecting & compliance — certifying agents, auditors and consultants can find operations by certifier, scope and anniversary date.
- Recertification timing —
anniversaryDateand status effective dates surface operations approaching renewal.

One record per organic operation (recordType: "operation"):
{"recordType": "operation","operationId": "0009000001","operationName": "Sunrise Organic Farms LLC","otherNames": null,"clientId": "CCOF-12345","certifierName": "California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF)","contactName": "Maria Lopez","contactFirstName": "Maria","contactLastName": "Lopez","status": "Certified","statusEffectiveDate": "2024-03-15","anniversaryDate": "2026-03-15","lastUpdatedDate": "2026-06-12","certifiedScopes": ["Crops", "Handling"],"scopeDetails": {"crops": { "status": "Certified", "effectiveDate": "2024-03-15" },"handling": { "status": "Certified", "effectiveDate": "2024-03-15" }},"phone": "(805) 555-0143","email": "info@sunriseorganic.com","website": "https://sunriseorganic.com","physicalCity": "Santa Maria","physicalState": "California","physicalStateCode": "CA","physicalZip": "93455","physicalCounty": "Santa Barbara","physicalCountry": "United States of America","physicalAddressFull": "1234 Foxen Canyon Rd, Santa Maria, CA 93455","mailingAddressFull": "PO Box 88, Santa Maria, CA 93456","businessTypes": ["Distributor", "Co-Packer"],"itemsCount": 14,"certifiedItemsCount": 14,"productScopes": ["Crops", "Handling"],"topProducts": ["Strawberries", "Lettuce", "Prepared salads"],"items": [{ "scope": "Crops", "category": "Strawberries", "itemName": "Strawberries", "varieties": "Albion", "status": "Certified", "statusEffectiveDate": "2024-03-15", "certificationLevel": "100% Organic" }],"leadScore": 92,"scrapedAt": "2026-06-20T12:00:00.000Z"}
Fields are null only when the operation genuinely doesn't publish them (e.g. no email/website on file) — never because the scraper skipped them.
Monitoring — only new operations
Turn on monitorMode with a monitorKey and the actor remembers every operation it has returned. On the next run with the same key it emits only operations that are new or whose certification status changed (newly certified, suspended, surrendered or revoked) — ideal as a fresh-lead feed.
This is independent of, and complementary to, Apify's own scheduler: use Schedules to run the actor daily/weekly, and monitorMode to ensure each run yields only net-new leads (no duplicates piling up in your CRM).
Automate & schedule
Run this actor on autopilot and pull results into your own stack:
- Apify API — start runs, fetch datasets, and manage schedules over REST.
- apify-client for JavaScript and apify-client for Python — official SDKs.
- Schedules — run it daily/weekly with
monitorModeto capture newly certified operations. - Webhooks — trigger downstream actions (CRM import, Slack alert, email sequence) the moment a run finishes.
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';const client = new ApifyClient({ token: 'MY_APIFY_TOKEN' });const run = await client.actor('scrapesage/us-organic-operations-scraper').call({states: ['CA', 'OR', 'WA'],businessTypes: ['distributor', 'broker'],withContactOnly: true,maxResults: 1000,});const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();console.log(`Got ${items.length} organic operation leads`);
Integrate with any app
Connect the dataset to 5,000+ apps — no code required:
- Make — multi-step automation scenarios.
- Zapier — push new operation leads straight into your CRM.
- Slack — get notified when a monitored search finds new operations.
- Google Drive / Sheets — auto-export every run to a spreadsheet.
- Airbyte — pipe results into your data warehouse.
- GitHub — trigger runs from commits or releases.
Use with AI assistants (MCP)
The output is clean, LLM-ready JSON. Call this actor from Claude, ChatGPT, or any agent framework through the Apify MCP server — ask your assistant to "find certified organic coffee handlers in California with a contact email" and let it run this scraper for you.
Agent-ready: autonomous payments (x402 & Skyfire)
This actor is agent-ready — AI agents can discover it, run it, and pay for it autonomously, with no Apify account and no human in the loop. It uses pay-per-event pricing and limited permissions, so it qualifies for Apify's agentic-payment standards:
- x402 — an open, HTTP-native payment protocol. Agents pay per run in USDC on the Base network directly through the Apify MCP server — no account, no API key.
- Skyfire — agent-to-service payments for fully autonomous AI-agent workflows.
Building an AI agent, MCP tool, or autonomous data pipeline? This scraper is ready to plug in and pay as it goes.

FAQ
Where does the data come from? The official USDA AMS Organic INTEGRITY Database public API (GetAllOperationsPublicData). The actor downloads the full operations dataset and joins each operation to its certified products.
How fresh is it? The INTEGRITY bulk dataset is refreshed by USDA on an ongoing basis; each run pulls the current published version, so you always get the latest certification statuses and effective dates.
Why do some operations have no email or phone? Not every operation lists contact details with its certifier. Email is present for ~46% and phone for ~51% of operations — use withContactOnly to keep only reachable leads.
Do I need an API key? No. The actor includes a built-in shared api.data.gov key. For heavy parallel use you can supply your own free key from api.data.gov/signup via the apiKey input.
Can I export to Google Sheets, CSV, or Excel? Yes — one click in the dataset view, or automatically on every run via the Google Drive integration.
Is this legal? This actor collects publicly available government data only. You are responsible for using the data in compliance with applicable laws (e.g. GDPR/CCPA for any personal contact data) and USDA's terms of service.
