Kijiji Scraper

Kijiji Scraper extracts listings from Kijiji, Canada's classifieds site. Give it a search page (any category, city, price range or sort you set on kijiji.ca), ad pages, or plain keywords. You get one clean row per listing with its price, location and coordinates, category, attributes, images and seller type.

It reads the data Kijiji embeds in its pages, so it does not run a browser. Runs are fast and cheap.

What data can you get from Kijiji?

Some fields come only from the ad page itself. Turn on Open each ad for details to get them (see below).

How to scrape Kijiji

1. Open kijiji.ca, search for what you want and set the location, category, filters and sort.
2. Copy the URL of the results page and paste it into Start URLs. You can add several searches, or ad URLs.
3. Set Maximum listings per search to the number of listings you want from each search.
4. Click Start. Download the results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or get them through the Apify API.

To search all of Canada without opening the site, type keywords into Search queries instead.

Without Open each ad for details, items come straight from the search pages (scrapedFrom: "search"). The description is shortened by Kijiji, attributes have internal names and values, and postedAt, endsAt, status, views, category.name and seller.name are often null.

The Overview view of the dataset shows the main columns. The Ad details view adds the fields from ad pages.

How much does it cost to scrape Kijiji?

The actor charges per listing in the dataset. The current price is on the Pricing tab. Open each ad for details makes one extra request per listing, so those runs take longer but cost the same per listing.

Tips

• Each Kijiji results page has 40 listings, and the actor moves to the next page until it reaches Maximum listings per search or the last page.
• Promoted top ads appear at the top of every results page. The actor keeps each listing once per run.
• Sort your search by date on kijiji.ca (sort=dateDesc) to get the newest listings first.

Migrating from version 0.x

Version 1.0 is a rewrite with a new output:

• One item per listing. Version 0.x pushed one item per search page with the listings nested in results.
• Prices are in dollars and correct. Version 0.x read $3,999 as 39.99.
• New inputs: searchQueries, maxItems, includeDetails, excludePromoted. maxPagesToSearch, fetchAdsFromSearch and debug are gone: use maxItems and includeDetails.
• Private sellers' names are not collected.

Is it legal to scrape Kijiji?

The actor only collects listings that Kijiji shows publicly, and it does not collect private sellers' names or contact details. You are responsible for how you use the data. Follow Kijiji's terms of use and the laws that apply to you, including privacy laws, before you store or reuse personal data.
