Calgary Building Permits Alert

Every building permit the City of Calgary issued since yesterday (or since any date you choose), filtered by community, permit class and work class, as clean rows you can pipe into a sheet, a CRM or an email digest. Built for trades and suppliers whose work follows permits: framers, roofers, electricians, HVAC, glazing, cabinets, landscaping, locksmiths on new builds and suite conversions.

What you get, per permit

Permit number, address, community, permit class, work class, the City's description, issue date, housing units, estimated project cost, a link to the City's portal, and the licence attribution on every row.

Inputs

• Communities (optional): the City's community names, e.g. SETON, LEGACY, CORNERSTONE. Empty means the whole city.
• Permit classes (optional): e.g. "1110 - Below Grade Suite", "1101 - Basement Development". Empty means all.
• Work classes (optional): a second filter on the City's work class, e.g. New, Alteration.
• Issued since (optional): a date. Default is the last 7 days; a daily schedule can pass yesterday's date or de-duplicate by permit number.
• Max results: a ceiling so a backfill cannot run away (default 500).

Source and licence

City of Calgary open data, dataset c2es-76ed, updated daily by the City. Contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – City of Calgary. The Actor adds nothing and infers nothing; it filters and formats the City's own rows.

Schedule

Run it daily with your filters and read the rows, or point it at a date to backfill a window. One run is one HTTP request to the City; there is no browser, no proxy and no login.

Pricing

Pay per event: $0.015 per permit returned ($15 per 1,000) and Apify's default start fee of $0.00005 per run; platform usage included. A daily run with your filters is a dollar or two a month; a one-time seven-day pull of the whole city is about $4. Set 2026-09-02 from a read of the whole field on the Store.

Names are left out on purpose

Applicant names and contractor names are not requested from the City's file, by design: the Open Government Licence's clause on personal information, and Canada's anti-spam law, which is your problem the moment a name meets a message. This is an alert about places and work, not people.

Your spending ceiling is honoured

You can set a maximum charge per run when you start the Actor. Apify enforces it: once the limit is reached, no further rows are pushed or charged and the run stops. A capped run never costs more than the number you set.
