Extract every review of any WordPress.org plugin – star rating, title, full text, reviewer, ISO date and developer replies – plus the plugin's official directory intel: active installs, 5→1 rating breakdown, version, tested-up-to, author, tags, support thread stats and download link.
Filter by star rating (WordPress.org's own ?filter=), by reviews since date, or switch on "only new reviews" and schedule it daily for competitor / own-plugin review alerts.
No login, no browser, no cookies – plugin details come from the official api.wordpress.org JSON API; reviews come from the public support forum HTML. Stable, polite and cheap.
Why this Actor
| Capability | This Actor | Typical WP scrapers |
|---|---|---|
| Official plugin API intel (installs, rating histogram, tested-up-to) | ✅ | Often HTML-only or missing |
| Full review text + developer replies | ✅ | RSS-only often truncates / skips replies |
| Star filter via WordPress.org's own filter | ✅ | Rare |
reviewsSince + onlyNewReviews monitoring | ✅ | Rare |
Search discovery (seo, backup…) | ✅ | Sometimes |
Pay-per-event (review + plugin) — no double dataset-item fee | ✅ | Often $4/1k flat |
What can I use it for?
- Plugin developers – monitor your own reviews and reply faster; catch 1★ spikes after a release.
- Competitor research – mine 1–2★ reviews of category leaders to find bugs and feature gaps.
- Agencies & freelancers – compare active installs, ratings and support resolution rates before recommending a plugin.
- Market analysts – track install counts and rating velocity across a niche.
- AI agents & LLM pipelines – dated, labelled review text for sentiment / RAG.
Input example
{"plugins": ["https://wordpress.org/plugins/contact-form-7/", "woocommerce"],"searchQueries": ["seo"],"maxPluginsPerSearch": 5,"maxReviewsPerPlugin": 50,"ratings": ["1", "2"],"reviewsSince": "2026-01-01","onlyNewReviews": false,"fetchReviewBodies": true}
The default input (Contact Form 7 + WooCommerce, 30 newest reviews each with bodies) finishes well under a minute and always produces a non-empty dataset – safe for Apify's daily auto-test.
Output
Two item types in one dataset (use the Reviews and Plugins views, or filter by type).
Review
{"type": "review","pluginSlug": "contact-form-7","pluginName": "Contact Form 7","reviewId": "used-to-be-the-best-5","reviewUrl": "https://wordpress.org/support/topic/used-to-be-the-best-5/","title": "Used to be the best","rating": 1,"date": "2026-10-30","reviewerName": "jbligh","text": "This suddenly does not work with my version of PHP…","replies": 0,"hasReply": false}
Plugin
{"type": "plugin","slug": "woocommerce","name": "WooCommerce","author": "Automattic","activeInstalls": 7000000,"rating": 4.5,"numRatings": 4833,"ratingDistribution": {"5": 4005, "4": 197, "3": 113, "2": 108, "1": 410},"version": "11.2.2","tested": "6.8.3","lastUpdated": "2026-11-04 2:12pm GMT","tags": ["e-commerce", "shop"],"scrapedReviewStats": {"reviewsScraped": 20, "avgRating": 3.1, "negativeShare": 0.4, "replyRate": 0.15}}
Pricing (pay per event)
| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Review saved | $0.80 per 1,000 reviews |
| Plugin details saved | $2.00 per 1,000 plugins |
No start fee beyond Apify's tiny platform start event. Do not enable a generic dataset-item event – that would double-charge next to review / plugin. Errors, not-found plugins and already-seen reviews (monitoring mode) are free.
Tips
- Complaint mining:
ratings: ["1","2"]. - Fast title-only monitoring:
fetchReviewBodies: false+onlyNewReviews: true. - Discovery:
searchQueries: ["seo","backup"]uses the official plugin search API. - Requests are paced politely with retries on 403/429/5xx. Enable a proxy only for very large jobs.
Is it legal?
This Actor only collects what WordPress.org shows publicly (plugin directory API + public support-forum reviews), without logging in. Reviewer display names are personal data under laws such as GDPR / CCPA; drop reviewerName if you do not need it. Respect WordPress.org's terms. This is general information, not legal advice.
