Tracks changes recorded in the Traffic Commissioner registration dataset: new services, variations, cancellations, and meaningful route/timetable metadata changes. It is for transport planners, operators, suppliers, and public-sector intelligence teams.
The official Traffic Commissioners / DVSA dataset covers Great Britain registrations recorded in the Vehicle Operator Licensing database and is normally updated weekly on Sunday. It is not complete UK bus coverage and does not include Northern Ireland. The catalogue licence is Creative Commons Attribution (not OGL): commercial reuse, persistent storage, adaptations, and redistribution are allowed with appropriate credit and licence/source notice. Attribution: Traffic Commissioners for Great Britain / DVSA local bus service registration data, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution; output is transformed.
Current-service state uses Reg_No; variation history uses Reg_No + Variation Number. These models are stored separately. Supported signals: NEW_SERVICE_REGISTERED, SERVICE_VARIATION_REGISTERED, SERVICE_CANCELLED, ROUTE_CHANGED, TIMETABLE_CHANGED, EFFECTIVE_DATE_CHANGED, SHORT_NOTICE_VARIATION, START_POINT_CHANGED, FINISH_POINT_CHANGED, OPERATOR_CHANGED, and SERVICE_NUMBER_CHANGED. Null transitions are suppressed.
On the first live run the Actor validates all 16 regional current/variation CSVs, emits zero signals, and atomically stores the full compressed baseline. Identical reruns emit zero. Regional collapse is checked independently. Filters and maxItems affect only Dataset output; failures before final commit preserve prior state. Example: {"mode":"sample","maxItems":100}. Sample mode avoids official fetch and production KVS and exercises the production normalize/diff/filter path.
Known limitations: data reflects operator submissions and basic registration metadata; it is not a timetable journey planner, real-time service feed, or compliance guarantee; duplicate current rows are collapsed to the highest numeric variation for each Reg_No.
