NIH Research Grants Awarded Tracker: Funding, Organizations, Institutes
List research grants awarded by the US National Institutes of Health. For every grant the actor returns the project number, title, awarded organization, state, award amount, fiscal year, award notice date, NIH institute, activity code, an abstract snippet, a link to the official project page and a simple funding score. Filter by fiscal year, state, institute, minimum amount or search words.
What does this Actor do?
It reads the free, public NIH RePORTER API (api.reporter.nih.gov/v2/projects/search), the same data behind the RePORTER website. It pages through the results, newest award notice first, and writes one clean row per grant. No login, no proxy, no API key.
Organization-level data only. The actor never outputs investigator names, emails or other personal data. Each row describes the grant and the organization that received it.
Run in 30 seconds
- Open the Actor and press Try for free (a free Apify account is enough).
- Keep the defaults (fiscal year 2026, awards of $500,000 or more) and press Start.
- Open the Output tab. Use the table view or download CSV, Excel or JSON.

Use cases
- Build a weekly list of newly awarded grants in your state or topic and send it to a spreadsheet, Slack or an n8n workflow.
- Find well-funded research organizations for partnership, vendor, recruiting or sponsorship outreach, ranked by funding score.
- Track which NIH institutes fund a field, for grant writers, consultants and nonprofits.
- Feed award data into a BI dashboard to compare funding by state, institute or activity code.
- Research a competitor or university lab group's public funding at the organization level.
Why use it
- Official source. Data comes straight from NIH RePORTER, with a link to each project page.
- No personal data. Organization-level fields only.
- Ready for automation. Flat rows, ISO dates, numeric amounts and a fixed, documented score.
- Pay for rows only. Filter first, then pay for the rows you receive.
Pricing
Pay per event. You pay a small fixed amount per grant row delivered, listed on the Pricing tab, plus a tiny start fee per run. You can set a maximum cost per run in the run options.
FAQ
Which grants are included? Grants that RePORTER lists for the fiscal year you choose and that meet your filters. New awards appear as NIH posts them, so a current fiscal year grows over time.
Why is a grant missing? It may be below your minimum amount, outside your filters, or not yet posted by NIH. Some awards have no amount listed and are skipped when a minimum is set.
Does the award amount include indirect costs? It is the total amount RePORTER reports for the award in that fiscal year. See the project page for the cost breakdown.
What is the funding score? A quick ranking aid from 0 to 100 that mixes award size and recency. It is not a quality rating of the research.
Limits
- Only data NIH publishes in RePORTER; this actor does not cover non-NIH funders.
- Up to 14,000 rows per run (a RePORTER paging limit). Split large pulls by state or institute.
- Investigator and officer details are deliberately not collected.
- Abstracts are shortened to a snippet; open
projectUrlfor the full text.
