Use when: a travel, logistics, insurance or news agent needs recent earthquakes (USGS) and official disaster alerts (GDACS: cyclones, floods, volcanoes, wildfires, droughts) for a point + radius, a country, or worldwide, in one call.
Try this input (also the default, just click Start)
{"requests": [{"lat": 35.68, "lon": 139.69, "radius_km": 500, "days": 7}, {"country": "Japan", "days": 7, "min_magnitude": 4.5}]}
Sample output (real run, 3 Nov 2026, trimmed)
{"query": {"lat": 35.68, "lon": 139.69, "radius_km": 500, "days": 7, "min_magnitude": 2.5}, "earthquake_count": 7,"largest_quake": {"magnitude": 6, "place": "58 km SSE of Shima, Japan", "time": "2026-10-31T22:15:02Z", "depth_km": 352.4, "pager_alert": "green", "distance_km": 322.1},"alert_count": 1, "alerts": [{"type": "earthquake", "name": "Earthquake in Japan", "alert_level": "Green", "url": "https://www.gdacs.org/report.aspx?eventid=1575395..."}], "error": null}{"query": {"lat": 51.5, "lon": -0.12, "radius_km": 300}, "earthquake_count": 0, "alert_count": 0, "error": null}
Options
lat+lon+radius_km, orcountry(English name), or neither for worldwide.days: look back 1-60 (default 7).min_magnitude: default 2.5 (point) / 4.5 (country).
Each quake has magnitude, place, time, depth_km, tsunami_flag, pager_alert, felt_reports, url, distance_km. No API key needed.
Pricing: pay per event, $0.002 per hazard lookup (one area and period). Rows with errors are not charged. No subscription.
Limits & failure modes
- For awareness only, not life-safety decisions; follow local authorities.
- Country search matches on the USGS place text, so offshore quakes may be labelled by region and
distance_kmis null. - Small quakes outside the US can take hours to appear in USGS; GDACS lists only events it scores.
Last tested: 3 Nov 2026.
