Scrape open projects from Freelancer.com, one of the largest freelance marketplaces (roughly 4,500–5,000 open projects at any time, hundreds posted every day). Search by keyword, skill, project type, client country or language — or pull every open project — and get one clean row per project: title, full description, skills, budget in the client's currency and in US dollars, fixed price or hourly, bid count and average bid, posted date, language, and the client's country when you search by country.

No login, no cookies, no browser. A small run finishes in a few seconds.

What you can do with it

  • Lead alerts for freelancers and agencies — schedule it every hour with Only new projects and get just the projects you have not seen yet, straight into Slack, email, Google Sheets or your CRM.
  • Find projects with little competition — set Maximum bids to 5 (or 0) and sort by Fewest bids first.
  • Filter by money — minimum and maximum budget for fixed-price work, minimum and maximum hourly rate, all compared in US dollars whatever currency the client posted in.
  • Market research — which skills are in demand, typical budgets per skill or country, how many bids projects attract.
  • Export to JSON, CSV, Excel or Google Sheets, or push to Make, Zapier, n8n and webhooks.

How it works

Each keyword (× client country, if you give countries) is one search of Freelancer.com's own project search with your skills, project type, languages and "posted within" applied by Freelancer. The actor pages through the results 100 projects at a time, then applies the filters Freelancer can't (budget and hourly rate in USD, maximum bids, excluded words, every-word match). Projects found by two searches are saved once. Max projects is shared fairly between your searches.

Input

FieldWhat it does
KeywordsWhat to search for, e.g. python, logo design, shopify. Each keyword is its own search. Empty = all open projects.
SkillsFreelancer skill names, e.g. Python, Logo Design, WordPress, Data Entry (a skill ID or a freelancer.com/jobs/… link also works).
Project typeFixed price and hourly, fixed price only, or hourly only.
Client countriesOnly projects from clients in these countries (United States, UK, AU, …). Each country is its own search and its rows carry the client's country.
Project languagesEnglish, Spanish, fr, …
Minimum / maximum budget (USD)Fixed-price projects whose budget range overlaps your range, converted to US dollars.
Minimum / maximum hourly rate (USD)The same for hourly projects.
Maximum bidsOnly projects with at most this many bids so far (0 = nobody has bid yet).
Posted within (hours)Only recent projects, e.g. 24.
Exclude wordsDrop projects whose title, description or skills contain these words.
Every keyword word must matchKeep a project only if every word of the keyword appears in it.
OrderNewest first, fewest bids first, or most bids first.
Max projectsHow many projects to save (and pay for). 0 = everything the run can find.
Only new projectsSkip projects an earlier run with the same input already saved — they are not saved again and not charged.

Example:

{
"keywords": ["web scraping", "data extraction"],
"projectType": "fixed",
"minBudgetUsd": 250,
"maxBidCount": 15,
"postedWithinHours": 24,
"maxItems": 200,
"onlyNew": true
}

Output

One row per project (a real row; the description is shortened here):

{
"projectId": 40794093,
"title": "SQL Data Extraction & Cleansing",
"url": "https://www.freelancer.com/projects/data-cleansing/sql-data-extraction-cleansing",
"type": "hourly",
"status": "open",
"description": "I’m working with a Microsoft SQL Server database that holds our raw operational records, and I need those tables pulled out, cleaned for data quality, and then re-loaded …",
"skills": ["Python", "Data Processing", "SQL", "MySQL", "Big Data Sales", "Data Cleansing", "Data Extraction", "ETL"],
"skillIds": [13, 36, 68, 305, 494, 1072, 1077, 1561],
"categories": ["Websites, IT & Software", "Data Entry & Admin"],
"currency": "INR",
"budgetMin": 750,
"budgetMax": 1250,
"budgetMinUsd": 7.87,
"budgetMaxUsd": 13.12,
"budgetText": "₹750–1,250 INR / hour",
"hourlyCommitmentHours": 40,
"hourlyCommitmentPer": "week",
"hourlyDuration": null,
"bidCount": 24,
"bidAvg": 929.6,
"bidAvgUsd": 9.76,
"bidPeriodDays": 7,
"postedAt": "2026-10-30T04:16:29.000Z",
"updatedAt": "2026-10-30T04:16:29.000Z",
"language": "en",
"upgrades": [],
"isFeatured": false,
"isUrgent": false,
"isSealed": false,
"isNda": false,
"isFullTime": false,
"isLocal": false,
"locationCountry": null,
"locationRegion": null,
"locationCity": null,
"clientCountry": null,
"clientCountryCode": null,
"searchKeyword": "python",
"scrapedAt": "2026-10-30T05:21:30.557Z"
}

Every row has every field (null or [] when Freelancer has no value). Hourly projects also carry hourlyCommitmentHours / hourlyCommitmentPer (e.g. 40 per week); local jobs carry the town, region and country of the work. Each run also writes a RUN_REPORT record (searches, counts, requests) to the run's key-value store, and the run's status message says in plain words what was found.

Pricing

Pay per result: $0.10 per 1,000 projects saved ($0.0001 per project), plus $0.002 per run for the start. You pay only for projects saved to your dataset — never for duplicates, for projects your filters leave out, or for projects that Only new projects skips. A run that finds nothing costs only the start fee. Set a maximum charge in the run options and the actor stops exactly there.

Examples: 10 projects ≈ $0.003 · 100 projects ≈ $0.012 · 1,000 projects ≈ $0.10 · every open project (~4,600) ≈ $0.46.

Tips

  • Lead alerts: schedule the same input every hour with Only new projects on. Each run returns only projects you have not received before; a run with nothing new costs just the start fee.
  • Low-competition projects: Maximum bids 5 + Order "Fewest bids first" + Posted within 24 hours.
  • Skills vs keywords: Skills match the tags the client chose (precise); keywords search titles and descriptions (broader). Use both to narrow down.
  • Client country is only known for searches you run by country (Freelancer filters by it but does not publish it on each project). Add the countries you care about to get it in every row.
  • Budgets are compared in US dollars with Freelancer's own exchange rate. The budget filter applies to fixed-price projects and the hourly rate filter to hourly ones — choose a project type to get only one kind.

FAQ

Is it legal to scrape Freelancer.com? The actor reads only public project listings that Freelancer.com shows to anyone without logging in, at a polite pace and following the site's robots.txt. Project listings are offers published by clients to be seen by as many freelancers as possible. How you use the data is your responsibility — if you republish projects, link to the original listing and credit Freelancer.com. When in doubt about your specific use, ask a lawyer.

Does it access any private data? No. There is no login and nothing behind an account. Rows hold the project listing only — no client names, usernames or profiles. Personal e-mail addresses and phone numbers that a client sometimes writes inside a description are masked ([email removed], [phone removed]); company role mailboxes such as jobs@ are kept. Local jobs show the town, never a street address or coordinates.

How fresh is the data? Live at run time — bid counts and averages are the current ones.

Why did I get fewer projects than Freelancer lists? Freelancer hides a few projects in every page of results, your filters (budget, bids, excluded words, posted within) leave projects out, and Only new projects skips the ones you already have. The status message says how many and why.

Do I need a Freelancer.com account? No.

Which proxy does it use? Apify Proxy (datacenter), included in every Apify plan. Nothing else is needed.
