FAQ

Where does the data come from? Directly from official state open-data portals (state Socrata instances and published state files). Each record carries its source_dataset_url.

How fresh? Most covered states update daily; the newest registrations are typically 0–3 days old (Pennsylvania lags weeks — flagged).

Is this legal? Yes — business registrations are public records published by the states for reuse.

Why isn't my state covered? Either its registry data requires paid bulk access, an account, or it publishes no machine-readable registry. Open an issue — when a state opens its data, it gets added.
