Scrape The Muse (themuse.com) job postings through its official public JSON API — the same themuse jobs API the site itself calls for search. Thousands of active US and international postings: title, company, locations, categories, experience levels and full description, read straight from the source. No login, no browser, no API key.
What you can do with it
- Search jobs by category, level, location or company. Any value The Muse's own search filters accept, for example
"Software Engineering","Senior Level","New York, NY"or"SpaceX"— combine several of each to broaden a run. - Benchmark a company's current openings. Filter by
companyto pull every live posting from a single employer at once. - Feed a job board, alert or aggregator. A stable numeric
idand canonicalurlper posting make cross-run deduplication straightforward. - Read full descriptions as clean text. HTML is converted to readable plain text with entities decoded, ready for search indexing or an LLM pipeline, without the markup.
Input
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
category | Keep only jobs matching one of these categories, for example "Software Engineering", "Data and Analytics" or "Design". Empty means every category. |
level | Keep only jobs matching one of these experience levels, for example "Entry Level", "Mid Level", "Senior Level" or "Internship". Empty means every level. |
location | Keep only jobs matching one of these locations, exactly as shown on The Muse, for example "New York, NY" or "Flexible / Remote". Empty means every location. |
company | Keep only jobs posted by one of these companies, exactly as named on The Muse, for example "SpaceX". Empty means every company. |
maxItems | The run stops once this many jobs are saved (default 50). |
includeDescription | Adds the full job description as plain text (default true). |
Example input:
{"category": ["Software Engineering"],"level": ["Senior Level"],"maxItems": 100,"includeDescription": true}
Output
One record per posting:
{"id": 21905519,"title": "PCB Technician (Starlink)","companyName": "SpaceX","locations": ["Lockhart, TX"],"categories": ["Science and Engineering"],"levels": ["Mid Level"],"publishedAt": "2026-07-01T18:39:43Z","url": "https://www.themuse.com/jobs/spacex/pcb-technician-starlink-1be743","description": "SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.\n\nPCB TECHNICIAN (ST..."}

Why this one
- No login, no browser, no proxy. The Muse's own public API is the same documented feed its own site uses for search; category, level, location and company filters are applied server-side, not guessed client-side.
- Full-text description cleaned for you, HTML stripped, entities decoded, with every e-mail address or phone-like number removed so the dataset never carries a reachable contact for a named person.
- Multi-value filters. Pass several categories, levels, locations or companies at once instead of running the Actor repeatedly.
Good to know
- The Muse's own public API caps how deep it paginates: about 2,000 results (100 pages of 20) per filter combination, even though the site holds hundreds of thousands of postings in total. Narrow a run with
category,level,locationorcompanyto reach further into a specific slice instead of trying to pull everything at once. categoriesis often an empty array: The Muse itself leaves many postings uncategorized, this Actor does not guess a value.- Every e-mail address and phone-like number found in
descriptionis replaced by nothing (removed), including the rare instance where an individual recruiter's personal address was embedded in the free-text body. The dataset carries no reachable contact information for a named person. - This is an unofficial tool, not affiliated with The Muse. Check the API's own terms and the data protection rules that apply to your use.
FAQ
Does it need a browser or a proxy? No. The Actor reads The Muse's own public JSON API directly over plain HTTPS.
Does it work without any filter? Yes, for a productive default run across the newest postings across all categories and locations.
Can I search "the muse api" jobs by company only?
Yes, set company and leave the other filters empty.
Can I get the data in Excel or Google Sheets? Yes. Export the dataset as CSV, Excel or JSON from the Apify console, or connect the Apify Google Sheets integration.

Who uses it
- Recruiting agencies and HR teams watch which companies hire, for which roles and at which salary, in their market.
- Job boards and aggregators feed their own site with fresh postings in a stable schema, without maintaining a parser.
- B2B sales and lead generation: a company that is hiring is a company that is buying. Filter postings by role to spot prospects early.
- Labour-market research: salaries, skills in demand, remote share and hiring volume over time.
Pricing
Pay per result: $2.00 per 1,000 postings, plus $0.00005 per run start. For example, 100 postings cost about $0.20. You only pay for the postings you receive, and platform usage is included in that price.
Run it from your code
JavaScript:
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';const client = new ApifyClient({ token: process.env.APIFY_TOKEN });const run = await client.actor('bibian/themuse-jobs-scraper').call({maxItems: 50,});const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();

Monitor new postings daily and connect your tools
- Schedule it. Save a task, set its publication date filter to the shortest window, and schedule it daily with Apify Schedules. Deduplicate on the
idfield if you keep your own copy. - Push the results where you work. Add an Apify integration or a webhook to the task: Google Sheets, Slack, Make, Zapier, n8n or your own endpoint, triggered at the end of every run.
- Call it from your stack. The API and the JavaScript and Python clients return the dataset as JSON, CSV or Excel.
- Let an AI agent use it. Through the Apify MCP server, assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT can search the Store, read this page and run the actor as a tool.
