Two modes
Metrics returns data for exactly the keywords you entered. Use it when you already have a list.
Ideas takes the first keyword as a seed and returns related keywords. Use it when you want to discover terms you have not thought of.
What you pay
You are billed per delivered row. Rows that come back without a search volume are returned but never charged.
Maximum rows is your cost ceiling: set it to 100 and you can never be billed
for more than 100 rows in that run.
Try it for free first. If you run the Actor with the pre-filled keyword
list unchanged, it returns a bundled sample of real results for those 20
keywords instead of fetching live data, and charges nothing. Every row is
marked fromCache: true and carries the date it was fetched. Change, add or
remove a single keyword and the run fetches live data and bills as described
above.
Honest limits
- Search volumes come from Google Keyword Planner and are monthly averages, rounded by Google. Two keywords both showing 12,100 are not necessarily equal.
- The 12-month trend is the best guide to whether a number is stable or spiky.
- Volume is per country and language. The same keyword in
us/enandde/deare different questions with different answers. Languageis a fixed list (en,de,ja,zh-TWand more). A code that is not on the list is rejected before any data is fetched, so a typo never costs you a run.CountryandLanguageare independent. United Kingdom with Ukrainian is a real combination and returns Ukrainian data, so check both before you run.
Common questions
Do I need a Google Ads account or a Keyword Planner API key? No. Google's own Keyword Planner is only reachable through a Google Ads account and the Google Ads API. This Actor gets the same metrics through a licensed keyword-data provider, so you paste keywords and get numbers back. No account, no key, no approval.
Is this the official Google Keyword Planner API? No. It is an independent tool that returns Google Keyword Planner metrics - average monthly searches, CPC, competition, top-of-page bids and the 12-month trend - without the Google Ads setup. The numbers are the ones Keyword Planner reports, rounded the way Google rounds them.
How is it priced? Per delivered row, and only for rows that come back with a search volume. There is no per-run fee and no "fresh lookup" surcharge: 1,000 keywords cost the same as 1,000 rows. The exact per-row price, including volume discounts, is on the Pricing tab of this page. Maximum rows is a hard cost ceiling for every run.
Can I check search volume for 1,000 keywords in bulk? Yes. Metrics mode takes up to 1,000 keywords in one run and fetches them in a single request, so a long list is no slower than a short one. Duplicates are removed before billing.
How do I get keyword ideas from one seed keyword?
Switch Mode to ideas, enter one keyword, and set Maximum rows to how many
related keywords you want (up to 1,000). Each idea carries the same metrics and a
seedKeyword field.
Can I use it from Python, or as an API? Yes. Every Apify Actor is an HTTP API; there are ready-made snippets for Python, JavaScript and cURL on the API tab, and AI agents can run it through the Apify MCP server.
Which countries and languages are supported?
Twelve countries: United States (us), United Kingdom (gb), Canada (ca), Australia (au), Germany (de), France (fr), Spain (es), Italy (it), Netherlands (nl), Brazil (br), India (in), Turkey (tr). Languages are a fixed list of 32 including en, de, fr,
es, ja and zh-TW. Both are drop-downs in the input, and a code that is not on
the list is rejected before any data is fetched, so a typo never costs a run.
Does it work for Amazon or YouTube keywords? No. The data is Google Search only. Amazon and YouTube search volumes come from different sources and are not included.
