Hey, Could you please check above runid what's going wrong here. It's providing no results but I am getting charged for it.
Hi, thanks for opening this issue!
As of today, Amazon has fully blocked reviews behind a login wall, so we cannot scrape anymore. To overcome this limitation, the scraper will enable the scrapeQuickProductReviews
option. This allows you to scrape the first 8 reviews directly from the product page. You can sort them by either mostRecent
or mostHelpful
, filters are not supported.
Amazon is often experimenting with similar blocking techniques, often reverting them after a few days. We are monitoring the situation and will update the scraper accordingly.
I hope this helps, thanks and happy scraping!
Is there anyway we can passin login credentials of amazon and continue scraping?
No, while this would be technically possible, it's legally in a very gray area. So we would rather not implement that feature. But feel free to explore some other scraping alternatives which might have this feature in them :)
Good luck and happy scraping!
Will you share an update here, as soon as Amazon unblocked it again? Do you know any other scrapper where it is still possible?
Hi, yes we will disable the scrapeQuickProductReviews
feature and announce it here as soon Amazon lifts of their login-wall from reviews (if they ever will…). I've personally searched for some other scrapers that could get the data as logged in, but wasn't able to find any, though that was on the very first day of the blocking.
Why is it legally a gray area to simulate, that you are logged in an account and still scrape the reviews?
Well, I'm no lawyer but AFAIK - anything that's publically accessible (without login or such) on the internet can be scraped freely as you like. Anything hidden behind any form of login or authentication counts as private property, which you cannot scrape without the permission of the site.
This actor is giving good amount of data its working well you can test this https://apify.com/webscrapewizard/amazon-review-crawler
Hi, I guess hijacking user issues for promotion of your stuff is not allowed, but the scraper is nice, so I will let it pass :)
For everyone here, we've updated our scrapeQuickProductReviews
feature to be able to extract up to 80 reviews and also improved it with all of the regular review filter and sorting options, that until now were missing on it :)
It is working with this crawler to scrape all reviews? https://apify.com/webscrapewizard/amazon-review-crawler ?
