AniList Anime and Manga Scraper

Scrape anime and manga titles, scores, genres, and staff from AniList by search term, format, or season. Each record returns the full metadata, including cover image, airing schedule, and relations. Export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML.

AniList's official GraphQL API requires you to write and maintain complex queries, and you still need to handle pagination and rate limits yourself. This scraper reads the public API directly, letting you search for anime or manga and filter by format, status, season, year, or genre. It returns every matching title in one consistent, flat schema.

Who uses itWhat they scrape AniList for
Anime bloggers and reviewersGather the latest seasonal anime data with scores and genres for weekly roundup posts.
Market researchersTrack trending anime and manga popularity to identify which genres are gaining traction.
App developersPopulate a media tracking app with a complete catalog of anime titles, staff, and studios.
Data analystsBuild a dataset of anime scores and popularity over time to analyze viewer preferences.

What it does

This Actor collects anime and manga entries from AniList based on a search query and optional filters, and returns each title as a flat row.

  • ๐Ÿ” Search-driven input: Provide a search term like 'naruto' or 'attack on titan' to find matching anime or manga.
  • ๐ŸŽฌ Media type toggle: Switch between ANIME and MANGA to target exactly the catalog you need.
  • ๐Ÿท๏ธ Format filter: Narrow results to TV series, movies, OVAs, ONAs, light novels, or one-shots.
  • ๐Ÿ“Š Status filter: Select only finished, currently releasing, not yet released, cancelled, or hiatus titles.
  • ๐ŸŒธ Season and year filter: Restrict anime results to a specific broadcast season and year, like Spring 2023.
  • ๐ŸŽญ Genre filter: Filter by a single genre such as Action, Romance, Mecha, or Slice of Life.
  • ๐Ÿ“ˆ Flexible sorting: Order results by popularity, search match, score, trending status, newest, or most favorites.

Results export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML, or straight from the API.

What you can do with AniList data

๐ŸŒธ Build a seasonal anime guide.

A blogger sets the type to ANIME, status to RELEASING, and season to the current period to pull every airing show with its score and genre for a new-season preview article.

๐Ÿ“Š Analyze genre popularity trends.

A researcher scrapes all finished anime sorted by score, filters by the Action genre, and exports the data to chart how audience ratings have shifted over the last decade.

๐ŸŽฎ Populate a recommendation engine.

A developer scrapes the full manga catalog with the Romance and Comedy genres, then uses the scores and popularity fields to seed a 'if you liked this, try that' feature.

๐Ÿ“š Compile a light novel reading list.

A book club organizer sets the type to MANGA, format to Light Novel, and status to FINISHED, then sorts by score to create a ranked list of must-read series for the group.

Troubleshooting

Why am I getting no results for my search?

Check that your search term is spelled correctly and try a shorter, more general query. Also verify that your combination of filters, like Format and Status, is not too restrictive for that term.

The run stopped after only 10 items.

Free Apify accounts are limited to a 10-item preview. Upgrade to a paid plan and adjust the 'Maximum titles' field to scrape more data.

My season and year filter is not working.

The season and year filters apply only when the Media Type is set to ANIME. For manga, these filters are ignored because manga does not have broadcast seasons.

The output is missing some fields I expected.

AniList returns data based on what is available in its database. Some older or less popular titles may lack staff, studio, or relation entries. This is a limitation of the source data, not the scraper.
