📋 What the Yelp Scraper does

You give it what to search for and where, or paste Yelp URLs, and it writes one row per business.

• Keyword plus location search. Combine any number of terms (plumbers, sushi) with any number of locations (Austin, TX, 94103, Brooklyn, NY). Each pair is its own search.
• Paste Yelp URLs. A Yelp search URL keeps every filter you set on the site. A Yelp business URL returns that business's full record.

Do I need a Yelp account or an API key?

No. The Actor reads the same public pages any visitor can open.

Why do phone and website say "N/A"?

Yelp search pages do not include them. Switch on "Add business details" and the Actor opens each business page to fill them in.

How many businesses can one search return?

Yelp stops every search at 240 results, even when it says there are more. To cover a whole city, add several locations (ZIP codes or neighborhoods) or several narrower terms. Duplicates across searches are removed automatically.

Can I scrape a single business?

Yes. Paste its Yelp business URL into Yelp URLs. Business URLs always return the full record, so they include details.

How many reviews can I get per business?

As many as Yelp shows. Set Max reviews per business. On a large restaurant we paged through all 3,420 English reviews.

Which reviews are included?

Yelp's recommended English reviews, in the order you pick: Yelp's default, newest, oldest, highest rated, lowest rated or elite reviewers first. Reviews Yelp hides as "not recommended" are not included.

Are owner replies included?

No. Yelp returned no owner replies in any review we sampled, so the field was left out rather than shipped empty.

Does it work outside the United States?

Yes. Any location Yelp covers works, for example Toronto, ON or London.

Are sponsored results included?

Not by default. Switch on "Include sponsored results" to keep them. Each row says whether it was sponsored.

Why is the rating "Not Disclosed" for some businesses?

Businesses with no reviews have no rating on Yelp. The Actor says so instead of inventing a zero.

Do I need a proxy?

No. Leave it off. Turn it on only if the log shows blocked requests.
