Know what is on a city council or committee agenda before the meeting: one clean row per agenda item, with the matter number, status, vote result and links to the agenda PDF and attachments.
Pulled from the official public Legistar Web API (webapi.legistar.com), the same records cities publish on their own council sites. Seattle, Denver, Boston, Phoenix, San Jose, Nashville, Baltimore and 11 more cities. No scraping of HTML, no AI, no account needed.
Track city council meetings in 18 US cities without opening each clerk's website. Every upcoming or recent council and committee meeting published on Legistar comes back as agenda-item rows: meeting date, time and link, the body, the matter, its status, the vote result and the agenda PDF.
Run it now. Paste this into the Input tab (JSON view) and press Start:
{"clients": ["denver","seattle"],"maxResults": 50,"onlyNewSinceLastRun": false}
At most 50 agenda items x $0.001 = $0.05 for this input. Measured: default-input test runs on 2026-10-11 (Seattle, 5 agenda items) took 2.9 to 9.2 seconds of run time. Bigger date windows and more cities take longer.
Run in 30 seconds
- Open the prefilled run (free Apify account; it creates a saved task with a working input).
- Press Start. The input is small on purpose, so the first run is quick and costs a few cents at most.
- Open the Output tab, switch to Table view, download as CSV, Excel or JSON.
Ready-made presets by use case (each opens as a saved task you can edit):
Why choose this over alternatives
- 18 US cities through the official Legistar Web API, in one table.
- Meeting date, body, matter file, type, status, action, vote result, attachments and agenda PDF links.
- Keyword filters and an "only new" mode for scheduled alerts.
- $0.001 per agenda item; unsupported cities and errors are not charged.

| You pull | You pay |
|---|---|
| 200 items (the prefilled Start) | $0.20 |

With onlyNewSinceLastRun on (the default), items you already received are skipped and never charged again: run it twice with the same input and the second run charges $0. Meetings, unsupported cities and errors are never charged. Use maxResults to cap any run.
Apify's free plan includes $5 of monthly platform credit, which covers about 4,500 agenda items with this actor (at $0.001 per result, plus small platform usage). Paid Apify plans get the same data with no monthly cap; scheduled daily runs stay cheap because each run only returns new records.
Use with the API, n8n, Make, Zapier, Clay or AI agents
API (returns the rows in one call):
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/transparent_meteorite~city-council-agendas/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN" \-H "Content-Type: application/json" \-d '{"clients":["denver"],"keywords":["zoning"],"onlyNewSinceLastRun":false}'
Python
from apify_client import ApifyClientclient = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN")run = client.actor("transparent_meteorite/city-council-agendas").call(run_input={"clients": ["denver"], "keywords": ["zoning"]})for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():print(item["meetingDate"], item["body"], item["matterFile"], item["title"])
- n8n, Make, Zapier: use the Apify app's "Run Actor" step with actor
transparent_meteorite/city-council-agendason a daily schedule, then post new items to Slack, email or a sheet. - Clay: add an HTTP API column that calls the run-sync endpoint with a city slug and keyword.
- AI agents (MCP): connect
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=transparent_meteorite/city-council-agendasto Claude, Cursor or any MCP client, and ask "what is on the Denver City Council agenda this week?".
Use from AI agents (MCP, ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity)
City Council Agendas API works as a tool for AI assistants through the official Apify MCP server. Add this server URL to any MCP client (Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT connectors, VS Code):
https://mcp.apify.com/?actors=transparent_meteorite/city-council-agendas
Claude Desktop / Cursor config:
{"mcpServers": {"apify": {"url": "https://mcp.apify.com/?actors=transparent_meteorite/city-council-agendas","headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>" }}}}
Then ask in plain language, for example: "How can I monitor city council agendas for keywords like zoning or RFP?"
Call it directly over HTTP (runs the actor and returns the dataset items in one request):
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/transparent_meteorite~city-council-agendas/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=$APIFY_TOKEN" \-H "Content-Type: application/json" \-d '{"clients": ["denver", "seattle"], "maxResults": 50, "onlyNewSinceLastRun": false}'
Python:
from apify_client import ApifyClientclient = ApifyClient("<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>")run = client.actor("transparent_meteorite/city-council-agendas").call(run_input={"clients": ["denver", "seattle"], "maxResults": 50, "onlyNewSinceLastRun": false})for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():print(item)
The same actor works in n8n, Make, Zapier, LangChain, LlamaIndex and CrewAI through their Apify integrations.
Questions people ask

Do I get the agenda PDFs? Yes, each item links the agenda PDF and attachments when the city publishes them.
Use it from code
Small real input: it returns only a couple of rows, so a test run costs very little (see Pricing). Set the APIFY_TOKEN environment variable to your token from Apify Console > Settings > API & Integrations.
Python (pip install apify-client)
import osfrom apify_client import ApifyClientclient = ApifyClient(os.environ["APIFY_TOKEN"])run_input = {'clients': ['seattle'], 'maxResults': 2, 'onlyNewSinceLastRun': False}run = client.actor("transparent_meteorite/city-council-agendas").call(run_input=run_input)for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():print(item)
JavaScript / Node.js (npm install apify-client)
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';const client = new ApifyClient({ token: process.env.APIFY_TOKEN });const input = {"clients": ["seattle"],"maxResults": 2,"onlyNewSinceLastRun": false};const run = await client.actor('transparent_meteorite/city-council-agendas').call(input);const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();console.log(items);
curl (runs the actor and returns the dataset items in one call)
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/transparent_meteorite~city-council-agendas/run-sync-get-dataset-items" \-H "Authorization: Bearer $APIFY_TOKEN" \-H "Content-Type: application/json" \-d '{"clients": ["seattle"], "maxResults": 2, "onlyNewSinceLastRun": false}'
Send results to Google Sheets, Zapier, Make or n8n
- Google Sheets: every run's dataset has a CSV export link:
https://api.apify.com/v2/datasets/<DATASET_ID>/items?format=csv&clean=true(the dataset ID is on the run's Storage tab). In Sheets,=IMPORTDATA("<that link>")loads it. Anyone with the link can read that dataset, so share it carefully. To export to Google Drive automatically, use the Google Drive integration on the actor's Integrations tab. - Zapier: in the Apify app, use the trigger Finished Actor run (or Run Actor as an action) with
transparent_meteorite/city-council-agendas, then Fetch dataset items and pass the rows to Google Sheets, a CRM or Slack. - Make: the Apify app has Watch Actor Runs, Run an Actor and Get Dataset Items modules; connect them to any Make app.
- n8n: install the Apify node (
@apify/n8n-nodes-apify) and use Run an Actor and get dataset, or the On new Apify event trigger. - Schedule and webhooks: create a Task with your input, add a Schedule in Apify Console, and add a webhook if you want a call when a run finishes.
See the Apify integrations docs for setup steps.

FAQ
Which city council meetings are covered?
Council and committee meetings of the 18 cities built into the clients input (Seattle, Denver, Boston, Phoenix, San Jose, Nashville, Baltimore and 11 more), all published through the public Legistar Web API. Cities that need a private Legistar token (for example New York City) or are not on public Legistar (Chicago, Los Angeles, Austin, San Francisco) are reported as unsupported and never charged.
Can I get only upcoming city council meetings?
Yes. Set daysBack: 0 and daysAhead to how far ahead you want, for example 14. Cancelled meetings are left out unless you turn on includeCancelled.
How do I get city council agendas automatically?
Schedule the actor daily with daysBack: 0, daysAhead: 14, your keywords and onlyNewSinceLastRun on. Each run returns only agenda items you have not seen yet.
How do I track zoning or liquor-license items in my city?
Set clients to your city's slug, keywords to ["zoning","rezone","liquor"], and optionally bodyFilter to planning or land use.
Which cities are covered?
The 18 cities listed above. You can also try any other Legistar client slug (the part before .legistar.com): if it works without a token you get data, and if not you get a clear "unsupported" note and no charge.
Does this include New York, Chicago or Los Angeles?
No. NYC requires a private API token, and Chicago, Austin, Los Angeles and San Francisco are not available on the public Legistar API.
Can I get the agenda PDF and staff reports?
Yes. Each row links the meeting's agenda PDF, the minutes PDF when published, and the item's attachments when the city posts them.
Does it include how each council member voted?
No. You get the result (for example "Pass") when the city records it, not the per-member roll call. Sponsor, mover and seconder names are left out by design.
Does the actor use AI?
No. It reads the official Legistar API and maps the fields, so the text is exactly what the city published.
More questions
How do I get alerts for zoning items on my city council agenda?
Pick your city in clients, add keywords such as "zoning", and schedule the actor with onlyNewSinceLastRun.
Which cities are supported?
18 US cities that publish on Legistar. The full list is in the input's clients field.
Do I get agenda PDFs and attachments?
Yes, links to the agenda and attachment files when the clerk posts them (includeAttachments).
Does it include vote results? Yes, when the city records the action and vote result in Legistar.
Can I look further ahead or back?
Yes. Use daysAhead and daysBack, or a fixed dateFrom / dateTo.
How this compares
Legistar is public, and each city has its own site to browse. This actor reads the official Legistar Web API for 18 cities and returns one table with keyword filtering and an "only new" mode. Paid government-intelligence services may cover many more jurisdictions and add analysis; this actor covers the listed Legistar cities and only what clerks publish.
Limitations
- Legistar only. Cities on other platforms (CivicClerk, PrimeGov, Granicus without Legistar and others) are not covered.
- Fields depend on the city.
agendaItemNumber,voteResult,action, attachments and minutes only appear when the city fills them in. In one real Denver/Seattle/Boston sample, about 20% of items had a vote result and 45% an attachment. Future meetings usually have no actions yet. - Agendas appear when cities post them. Meetings whose agenda is not published yet return no rows.
- Procedural rows (Call to Order, Public Comment) are included as published; use
keywordsto focus on substantive items. - Polite by design: at most 4 requests per second with retries, so wide multi-city runs take a few minutes.
- Public records as published by each city, which can change. Check
meetingUrloragendaPdfUrlfor the authoritative document.
