SEC Filing CIK Timeline Reconciler — build one reviewable EDGAR filing timeline per explicit CIK
Feed this Actor a batch of EDGAR-derived filing rows from your own zinin/sec-edgar-watcher and/or zinin/insider-trading-tracker runs (or any compatible dataset carrying cik + recentFilings), and it expands, dedupes, and reconciles every nested filing into one filing dossier per explicit CIK — never a company name — preserving every disagreement between duplicate observations instead of silently picking one.

What you get
You give this Actor a dataset (or inline list) of rows carrying a cik and a nested recentFilings array — the shape zinin/sec-edgar-watcher and zinin/insider-trading-tracker both emit. It never queries EDGAR itself and never infers a CIK from a company name — a CIK is only ever the explicit, syntactically valid value your rows actually supplied. For each distinct CIK observed, you receive a filing dossier:
filingCount— distinct accession numbers reconciled for this CIK across every contributing row, with the dashed 10-2-6 and exact 18-digit forms of the same real accession counted once. A CIK observed only via missing, empty, or malformedrecentFilingsnever becomes a billable dossier — it stays a freeno_valid_filings_observeddiagnostic.filings— up to 30 reconciled filings (latestfiledAtfirst), each carrying every DISTINCT form/filedAt/url/primaryDocument combination ever reported for that accession underobservations— never last-write-wins.observationCount/observationsOmittedCountdisclose the true total beyond the 5-per-filing display cap.conflictCount— how many accession numbers have more than one distinct observation (a genuine disagreement about the same filing's form or date).collisionCount— how many accession numbers were ALSO reported under at least one different CIK anywhere in the same run. Never resolved automatically: both CIK dossiers keep the filing, each flagged.companyNames/companyNameConflict— every distinct company-name string observed for this CIK; more than one is disclosed, never merged or overwritten.sourceAdapters, status, andconfidence— whether this CIK's timeline was independently confirmed by two distinct upstream adapters, by only one, or shows a conflict or collision that needs review first.
What this Actor deliberately does not do: infer a CIK from a company name or ticker (a missing/invalid cik is a free invalid_cik diagnostic); pick a "winning" value when duplicate rows disagree about the same accession; silently merge two CIKs sharing an accession number; claim complete EDGAR coverage, investment merit, or wrongdoing; or call the network, an AI model, or the system clock inside its transform step, nor launch zinin/sec-edgar-watcher, zinin/insider-trading-tracker, or any other Actor on your behalf.

Who uses it
- Insider-trading and Form 4/144 monitoring teams running
zinin/insider-trading-trackeragainst a watch list, who need every distinct filing reconciled into one CIK timeline instead of scrolling raw scrape output. - Compliance and market-surveillance analysts who need
conflictCount/collisionCountsurfaced explicitly before treating a timeline as reliable for a review memo. - Data engineers building an EDGAR-derived filing warehouse, who need a post-processing step that never drops a disagreement between two rows describing the same accession.
- Investor-relations and competitive-intelligence teams tracking a competitor's full filing cadence across independent scraping pipelines.
- Search-term note: "EDGAR CIK deduplication", "Form 4 timeline reconciliation", "SEC filing cross-source confirmation", and "accession number collision detection" all map onto this Actor's identity and conflict rules.
How to run
- Open the Apify Console and start a new run of SEC Filing CIK Timeline Reconciler.
- Choose a source, in order of precedence (an explicit dataset wins over a run reference, which wins over the inline example):
- Source Dataset (
datasetId) — an existing Dataset from azinin/sec-edgar-watcherorzinin/insider-trading-trackerrun. - Source run ID (
runId) — a run ID when you don't have its Dataset ID directly. - Integration payload (
payload.resource) — supplied explicitly by your integration; the Actor’s default is empty. - Source records (inline) — the prefilled real public sample: one full NVIDIA row (70 filings) and one full Microsoft row (76 filings), both from actual public runs.
- Source Dataset (
- Optionally set Max source rows (
maxInputRows, default 100, up to 1000) and Max results (maxResults, default 2, up to 1000). The platform's own Max total charge USD is a separate, independent stop. - Run it. Delivered rows land in the run's default Dataset, one per CIK, each carrying
sourceRowIndexesback into your batch. - Read
confidence, status, conflictCount, andcollisionCountbefore treating output as reconciled fact.
Pricing
This Actor bills on the Apify Pay-Per-Event model under a single primary event, result-found, priced as a "filing dossier." There is no start fee and no per-filing charge — only a delivered, useful dossier is billed. Free diagnostics (invalid rows, source failures, a zero-filing CIK, budget stops, empty batches) never request the paid event.
| Tier | Price per filing dossier |
|---|---|
| Free | $0.0300 |
| Bronze | $0.0270 |
| Silver | $0.0240 |
| Gold | $0.0210 |
| Platinum | $0.0210 |
| Diamond | $0.0210 |
Bronze/Silver/Gold apply Apify's standard 10%/20%/30% volume discounts off Free; Platinum and Diamond hold the Gold rate. This table states only the price actually configured on this Actor's result-found event — not a revenue or volume guarantee. A partial: true dossier (e.g. filingsOmittedCount > 0) is still a useful, billable aggregate; only a genuinely empty, invalid, or zero-filing outcome is free.

Output examples
Every row and diagnostic below is copied verbatim (JSON minified to whitespace only, per real per-CIK filing volume) from an actual private cloud canary run of this Actor's value-add-candidate build, whose transform.js and .actor/dataset_schema.json hashes match this Actor's current source files exactly.
Happy path — a delivered, reconciled 76-filing Microsoft dossier
Real run against the full prefilled sample with maxResults: 2 (both real CIKs delivered; neither had a conflict or a cross-CIK collision):

Complete actual partial-source dossier: 30 filings and12 evidence entries. Source reading stopped after NVIDIA; the Microsoft source row was outside this run’s maxInputRows1 bound. A separate free partial_source diagnostic records that limitation.
Failure path — the platform's own charge limit stops delivery before any row is read
Real run with Max total charge USD set to $0.005 — below the configured $0.03 Free-tier price:
{"product": "sec-filing-cik-timeline-reconciler","schemaVersion": "1.0","status": "budget_stopped","reason": "Run charge limit cannot cover any result; no source was read.","found": false,"processedAt": "2026-09-23T08:00:31.046Z"}
Free — chargedEventCounts.result-found was 0. The charge-limit check happens before any source row is read.
Empty-source path — a batch with nothing usable in it
Real run with items: []:
{"product": "sec-filing-cik-timeline-reconciler","schemaVersion": "1.0","status": "no_results","found": false,"reason": "no_usable_rows_in_batch","sourceCoverage": { "complete": true, "reason": null, "droppedOversized": 0 },"processedAt": "2026-09-23T08:00:14.124Z"}
Also free. sourceCoverage.complete: true means the Actor read the entire (empty) batch supplied.
Field dictionary
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
entityId | cik:<10-digit CIK>. |
found | true for a useful dossier; all delivered diagnostics are false. |
status | timeline_reconciled, timeline_with_conflicts, or timeline_with_cik_collision; otherwise a diagnostic status. |
action | review_timeline, review_conflicts, or review_cik_collision — a routing hint, never an automated decision. |
confidence | high (2+ adapters agree, no conflict/collision, not partial), medium (single-source, or otherwise-high but partial, or has conflicts), low (any collision). See Decision routing. |
cik | 10-digit zero-padded identity for this dossier. |
companyNames / companyNameConflict | Distinct company names observed (cap 5) and whether more than one exists. |
filingCount | Total distinct accession numbers reconciled for this CIK. |
filings / filingsOmittedCount | Up to 30 filings (latest first), each { accessionNumber, collision, conflict, observationCount, observationsOmittedCount, observations }. |
filings[].observations | Up to 5 distinct { form, filedAt, url, primaryDocument, sourceRowIndex } per accession — every disagreement preserved, never last-write-wins. |
conflictCount | How many accessions have more than one distinct observation. |
collisionCount | How many accessions were also reported under a different CIK in this run. |
invalidFilingEntriesSkipped | Entries failing the accession/form/date check, excluded rather than guessed at. |
sourceRowsMissingFilingsField | Accepted rows for this CIK whose recentFilings was missing/not an array. |
sourceRowsPartialCount | Accepted rows carrying upstream partial: true; nonzero forces partial: true. |
sourceAdapters / sourceAdapterUnknownRowCount | Distinct recordType adapters contributing; 2+ counts as multi-source confirmation. |
evidence | Up to 12 { field, value, rule, sourceRowIndex } entries; rule is accession_cik_collision, accession_conflict, or accession_observed. |
observedAt / sourceObservationWindow | Real latest/earliest valid checkedAt across contributing rows — a capture time, never a filing event date. |
sourceRowIndexes | Offsets into your original batch that produced this dossier. |
partial | true when filingsOmittedCount > 0, an observation cap was hit, a row flagged partial/missing recentFilings, or the row window wasn't fully read. |
sourceCoverage | { complete, reason, droppedOversized } — whether the reader saw your entire configured row window this run. |
product / schemaVersion | Fixed identifiers for schema pinning. |
processedAt | When this Actor processed the row — never a filing event date or source capture time. |
Diagnostics (never billed): invalid_row, source_row_failed, invalid_cik, no_valid_filings_observed, no_results, budget_stopped, partial_source, or the run-level max_results_reached summary row.
Evidence and boundaries
What "found" means. A delivered dossier requires found: true, a real CIK, and at least one syntactically valid filing. A CIK seen only via missing/empty/malformed recentFilings is a no_valid_filings_observed diagnostic, not a billable dossier.
Conflicts are never auto-resolved; collisions are never silently merged. When duplicate rows disagree about the same accession's form/filedAt/url/primaryDocument, every distinct observation is preserved and conflictCount reflects the true total — never "latest wins." When the same accession appears under two different CIKs, both dossiers retain the filing, both flagged collision: true, with status: "timeline_with_cik_collision" and confidence: "low".
Multi-source confirmation requires genuinely distinct adapters. confidence: "high" only fires when two distinct, identifiable recordType adapters agree on a conflict-free, collision-free timeline, capped to medium whenever the dossier is otherwise partial: true — incompleteness never claims the top confidence level.
Charge limits are checked before any row is read. This Actor reads at most maxInputRows rows and delivers at most maxResults dossiers, independent of the platform's own Max total charge USD, verified to cover at least one dossier before any row is read; if not, it stops with the free budget_stopped diagnostic.
Delivery is a dataset write, then an explicit charge — not transactional, never guaranteed exactly-once. Every dossier is written to your run's Dataset before the result-found charge event is requested. This Actor fails closed on any ambiguity, and never retries a possibly-already-charged write. The own-run guard only prevents resurrection within the same run — re-running against the same input can bill again.
Source resolution precedence and permissions. An explicit datasetId/runId and an Integrations payload.resource reference must agree when both are present. A runId is read with your run's own granted permissions — no elevated access, no upstream Actor started. The Source Dataset field's resourcePicker READ-only grant — not a bare webhook payload — is what allows a private Dataset read. Source calls use GET on https://api.apify.com; SDK storage and billing perform writes. Accessible run metadata is checked against the Dataset. A readable explicit Dataset can proceed with unverified run provenance if run metadata is unavailable.
Bounded everything, always. 1000 source rows / 4 MiB total input / 64 KiB per row. filings capped at 30, observations per filing at 5, companyNames at 5, evidence at 12 — each with an exact omitted count and forced partial: true when nonzero. Validation is against the syntax of a real accession/form/date, never a live EDGAR lookup.
Decision routing
timeline_with_cik_collision/confidence: "low"— set whenevercollisionCount > 0. Always overrides the other outcomes.timeline_with_conflicts/confidence: "medium"— no collision, butconflictCount > 0: at least one accession has disagreeing observations.timeline_reconciled/confidence: "high"— no conflict or collision, and at least two distinct identifiable adapters agree. Downgraded toconfidence: "medium"(status unchanged) whenever the dossier is otherwisepartial: true.timeline_reconciled/confidence: "medium"— no conflict or collision, but only one identifiable adapter (or none) contributed.
Route accordingly: low → manual review of evidence[].rule: "accession_cik_collision" entries before treating either CIK's filing count as authoritative. medium with conflictCount > 0 → check observations on the flagged filings. medium otherwise, or high → safe to surface directly, with the standing caveat that this is a reconciliation of your supplied batch, never a live EDGAR verification.
Commercial playbooks
Insider-activity monitoring digest. Run zinin/insider-trading-tracker against a watch list of executives, feed the dataset through this Actor weekly, and route timeline_with_conflicts/timeline_with_cik_collision dossiers to a review queue while timeline_reconciled dossiers go straight into your tracker.
Cross-pipeline filing-warehouse gate. Insert this Actor immediately after any EDGAR-derived scraper, before rows reach your BI warehouse. A timeline_with_cik_collision result blocks that CIK's data from loading until a human resolves the disputed accession.
Two-source confirmation for compliance sign-off. Combine zinin/sec-edgar-watcher and zinin/insider-trading-tracker output for the same CIK into one dataset before running this Actor, so a genuinely high-confidence, two-adapter-confirmed timeline is possible.
Competitive filing-cadence tracking. Feed a competitor's CIK through this Actor on a schedule to see its full reconciled filing timeline, with filingsOmittedCount disclosing when more history exists than the display cap shows.
Integration recipes
Chained via Apify Integrations. Add an "Actor/task run" integration on your zinin/sec-edgar-watcher or zinin/insider-trading-tracker Task, mapping {{resource.defaultDatasetId}} into Source Dataset.

POST https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/zinin~sec-filing-cik-timeline-reconciler/runs?maxTotalChargeUsd=0.50 with an Authorization header and { "datasetId": "<upstream dataset id>", "maxInputRows": 200, "maxResults": 10 }. Poll GET /v2/actor-runs/<runId>, then read GET /v2/datasets/<defaultDatasetId>/items.
Webhook-notified pipeline. Attach a webhook for ACTOR.RUN.SUCCEEDED; treat the payload as a "go read now" signal and fetch rows via the Dataset API with your own token. Define with doNotRetry: true, no embedded credentials.
MCP / agent tool use. Pass the same datasetId/runId/items + maxInputRows/maxResults shape. Surface status, confidence, conflictCount, and collisionCount directly to distinguish "safe to act on" from "needs a human to review first."
Webhook registration template, not a captured dispatch; configure the destination’s explicit Dataset READ grant.
{"eventTypes":["ACTOR.RUN.SUCCEEDED"],"condition":{"actorId":"<UPSTREAM_ACTOR_ID>"},"requestUrl":"https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/zinin~sec-filing-cik-timeline-reconciler/runs?maxTotalChargeUsd=0.50","headersTemplate":"{\"Authorization\":\"Bearer <YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>\"}","payloadTemplate":"{\"datasetId\":\"{{resource.defaultDatasetId}}\",\"payload\":{\"resource\":{{resource}}},\"maxInputRows\":100,\"maxResults\":2}","doNotRetry":true}
Diagnostic delivery is capped at200 rows; the summary reports truncation/oversized omissions. Storage failures can prevent OUTPUT/SUMMARY persistence; ambiguous writes can leave raw Dataset rows above confirmed counters. A charge cap covering part of the batch permits partial delivery.
Operating guide
- Start with the real prefill to confirm the delivered shape before pointing this Actor at your own dataset.
- Combine both source feeds before running, if you have both — multi-source confirmation only fires when two distinct adapters appear in the same batch.
- Set
maxInputRows/maxResultsto your real batch size, larger than the defaults meant for a first test. - Always set the platform's own Max total charge USD for any unfamiliar batch size.
- Treat
timeline_with_cik_collisionas urgent — the same real accession appears attributed to two different CIKs. - Watch
filingsOmittedCounton high-volume issuers —filingCountis always exact even when the displayed list is capped.
FAQ
Does this Actor query SEC EDGAR itself? No. It is a pure post-processing reconciliation over rows you already have.
Why did I get a diagnostic instead of a dossier for a CIK I know has filings on EDGAR?
Every row for that CIK either had a missing/non-array recentFilings field, or every entry failed the accession/form/date check.
What happens if the same accession number appears twice with different form values?
conflict: true is set, both observations are kept, and conflictCount increments — never a silent overwrite.
Why does filingCount sometimes not match how many entries I sent in recentFilings?
Duplicate rows reporting the same accession are deduped, and invalid entries are excluded (invalidFilingEntriesSkipped) rather than counted.
Will running this Actor again on the same dataset cost me twice? Yes, if the same CIKs still qualify — there is no cross-run deduplication, only a same-run resurrection guard.
Is a high-confidence dossier a claim that the filings are accurate on EDGAR itself?
No — a claim about evidence agreement across your supplied sources only, never a live-EDGAR verification.
Sources and rights
This Actor processes only EDGAR-derived filing rows you supply — your own zinin/sec-edgar-watcher and/or zinin/insider-trading-tracker runs, or a compatible source. It holds no independent relationship with SEC EDGAR and performs no live filing lookups.
Related public Store Actors, identified in saved Store research and public metadata captured on 2026-09-23:

Public examples here are curated, provenance-tagged projections of actual public source runs — every CIK, accession number, and filing date traces back to a real upstream Actor, run, and Dataset. No personal data is present in any public example or in this Actor's output.
zinin/funding-round-tracker— separate Form D context; its rows require explicit mapping and are not interchangeable with the nested filing input described here.
