  1. Started Actor
  2. Half way through processing, (while I was asleep) Apify stopped my actor (without my permission) and told me to upgrade my usage. There was no warning (or option for upgrading usage) ahead of time, and there was no option for payment plans between $49 (way too low for my usage) and $499 (way too high for my usage).
  3. Increased my usage limit to $100 instead of $50. Card is already connected to the account so it should have just kept charging anyways.
  4. Restarted actor and no issues were reported from Apify. Thought everything should run smoothly now that I changed my usage/billing, right?
  5. Wrong! Opened Apify 4 hours later; none of my credits were used, despite adding more. Not just that, the scraper had processed 800+ URLS but since your server wouldn't charge my card after increasing my usage, it "failed" (it didn't fail, you just didn't charge my card after upgrading my usage) I imagine this cost you money because it sat there for hours failing URL after URL. Probably not that much but at scale this could be a big issue.
  6. So here I am, I just upgraded my billing/usage after seeing my data wasn't received, and waited 4 additional hours just to end up with no results getting sent back to me.
  7. No idea how to scrape the remaining 3000 URLs because there is no option to include the 800 failed rows.
  8. And the cherry on top, your entire support team is gone until Monday. How convenient?!

Hi,

thanks a lot for reporting this and your patience! There was a bug in the Actor run resurrection, that caused the crawler to fail on processing pages via GPT afterward. I'm happy to inform you, that we've just updated the scraper with the fix ;)

Regarding your other truly constructive points, I will answer them as a user myself.

I can only fully disagree. I would never want to have my card additionally charged just because I added it to a website. Not to mention, it would probably be illegal. The limit is there for a reason. It only makes sense that you have to manually change it for new accounts, in order to not accidentally lose your money.

Lukas, here are the issues I'm facing:

  1. Your refund was not received
  2. The actor is still not working
  3. I still can't go past $50 usage even though I upgraded the usage limit to $100
  4. Apify support team is ignoring all of my requests.
  5. There is no option to buy credits beforehand without paying $499 which is WAY too expensive.

Was planning on using this software every time I scrape leads. I can't tell you how bad I want to use this but it's not working!!! You guys have a good product but I can't even pay for it because the usage limits are not functional!!

I've been trying to contact support for a week. Wtf is wrong with this company?!

I don't think you work FOR Apify, but maybe you know a workaround. Please let me know

  1. The refund in this case is additional $49 in prepaid platform usage. You should be able to find it in your invoices.

  2. This Actor run is invalid, hence the refund. Just start a new Actor run. Unfortunately, you will have to wait for it to finish again, sorry about that.

  3. I can see you went over the $50 mark, the Actor failed this time because of a 600s timeout of no new results ;)

  • TLDR: overage allows you to go over your prepaid usage and is paid monthly

I'm sorry but all I see is a $0 invoice from you and I can't find the $49 credits anywhere on my account. It still shows that I used $49 in the bottom left corner and there is nowhere to view the credits you sent me.

Are they active in my account even though I can't see them?

Oh, sorry about the bit confusing UI state. Simply click on the invoice ID number to view the detailed PDF for it.

As mentioned, the $49 credits are in the form of prepaid platform usage. This means, that this month, you can in total use up to $98 before paying any overage ($49 from your plan + $49 as compensation). In case you reach the overage, it will get charged to you next month.

Hey Lukas,

$98 is very close to my $100 limit. The original run required $80 in credits to complete the run. Right now I am sitting at $50 in usage. If I restart this run, it will put me over my $100 usage limit.

Does this mean I need to raise my usage limit to $150 in order to prevent this issue from happening?

Also, yes, the credits show up on the PDF, but are nowhere to be found on my account. How do I know FOR SURE that those credits are active in my account?

To see your current remaining prepaid usage, go to billing -> current period and there you will find it under plan consumption.

Yes, raise your limit to accommodate for the new run. Also after the recent fix we've made, you can easily ressurrect the Actor with no problems anymore.
