Do you want to learn more about this Actor?
Get a demoNot sure why but we are getting a null value for TotalProductCategoryRatings. We pull the most recent review for an ASIN. we filter by rating and only pul 1 review. normally we would get a number in the TotalProductCategoryRatings field but since September 18th it has been coming through as null and recommendations?
Hi, thanks for opening this issue!
Seems like Amazon has changed their review category texts for reviews with star filters. We will investigate this further and fix it :)
I wll keep you updated here, thanks!
Thank you for the update. I visited the amazon page and the data is still appearing on the webpage same as before. Would rolling back the actor to previous version possible work. I believe something might have gotten messed up with this during the more recent update.
It was in fact changed. Normally without any filters it's the same thing. But if you add any filter, then it will add some new Filtered by 5 star Clear filter
text above, which the scraper is currently selecting and breaking because of it.
We will just have to change the selectors to account for this, and select only the relevant part :)
I understand the issue and appreciate your explaining it to me. I don't want to sound pushy, but can you give me an estimate of how long it will take to update the Amazon Reviews Scraper? I have a client who is asking me when their system will be back online, and I don't have a good answer other than "we're working on it."
Right, I get that :D To be honest, I also don't have an exact estimate for you, but from our current sprint, we should get to it in a week. Then it should be fairly easy to fix :)
Thank you for the update
Hello,
I apologize for any inconvenience, but my client requested that I investigate alternatives to this web scraper last week. I informed him to wait for an update from you regarding the matter. While it has only been one week since the request, I wanted to inquire about the possibility of a resolution.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Hi, as of today, Amazon has fully blocked reviews behind a login wall, so we cannot scrape anymore. We will re-add back our previous option to scrape the 8 "quick product" reviews straight from the product page, but that's all that we can get.
It's also good to mention that Amazon often experiments with blocking some parts of their website like this. They usually remove the blocking after a few days, but who knows when or if ever they will revert this one…
There are probably some scrapers on the market that allow scraping while logged in, but it's legally in a very gray area, so we won't be adding that here.
I will keep you updated here, thanks and good luck!
