What it does
The actor opens the OpenVC investor lists you name, paginates through each list, and writes one normalized record per investor to the run's dataset. It recovers the full investor name from the profile link (the on-page name is CSS-truncated), reads the un-truncated thesis and value-add text from the row data, parses the check-size range into numeric checkSizeMin and checkSizeMax, and collects funding stages, target countries and social links. The type, stage, geography, check-size and lead-only filters are applied before records are written, so you only pay for investors that match.
Name a sector keyword (expanded to <keyword>-investors), a full list slug, or a full openvc.app/investor-lists URL.
Quickstart
Open the actor, paste this into the input, and press Run. It returns up to 40 investors from the AI investors list.
{"lists": ["ai-investors"],"maxInvestors": 40,"leadOnly": false}
Try other lists such as fintech, climate-tech, angel-investors-france or vc-firms-fintech. Add filters to narrow the set. Every input field is optional.
Input reference

Example output record
See the hero record at the top of this page. It is a real investor (Okya Ventures, from the ai-investors list) pulled from a live run (input {"lists":["ai-investors"],"maxInvestors":40}); every value shown is real.
Run via API and CLI
Start a run and wait for it to finish, then read the dataset. Replace <TOKEN> with your Apify API token.
Run synchronously and get dataset items in one call:
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/scrapers_lat~openvc-investors-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=<TOKEN>" \-H "Content-Type: application/json" \-d '{"lists":["fintech"],"stages":["Seed"],"leadOnly":true,"maxInvestors":50}'
Start a run asynchronously:
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/scrapers_lat~openvc-investors-scraper/runs?token=<TOKEN>" \-H "Content-Type: application/json" \-d '{"lists":["ai-investors","climate-tech"],"geographies":["United States"],"maxInvestors":200}'
Apify CLI:
apify call scrapers_lat/openvc-investors-scraper \--input '{"lists":["ai-investors"],"maxInvestors":40}'
Fetch results
Every run writes to a dataset. Fetch items as JSON, CSV, or Excel by changing format:
# JSONcurl "https://api.apify.com/v2/datasets/<DATASET_ID>/items?token=<TOKEN>&clean=true&format=json"# CSVcurl "https://api.apify.com/v2/datasets/<DATASET_ID>/items?token=<TOKEN>&clean=true&format=csv"# Paginate large datasetscurl "https://api.apify.com/v2/datasets/<DATASET_ID>/items?token=<TOKEN>&offset=1000&limit=1000"
<DATASET_ID> is returned as defaultDatasetId in the run object. Use offset and limit to page through large result sets. clean=true drops empty and internal fields.
Billing and limits
- Pay per result. You are charged per investor returned (
resultevent). See the pricing tab for the current per-result price. - No charge on failure. If a run errors, the actor writes a single item with a populated
errorfield and does not charge for it. Empty runs cost nothing. - Spend cap respected. Set
maxTotalChargeUsdon the run; once reached, the actor stops emitting and charging further billable results. - Free Apify plans are capped at 10 investors per run. Upgrade for higher
maxInvestors.
FAQ and troubleshooting
A run returned 0 records. Why? The list name may be wrong, or the filters excluded everyone. Confirm the list exists on OpenVC, or loosen the type / stage / geography / check-size filters. Zero-result runs are not charged.
Why is the name different from what I see truncated on the site?
OpenVC visually truncates long names with an ellipsis. The actor recovers the full name from the profile link, so name is complete.
How is check size parsed?
The displayed text (for example $100k to $200k) is kept in checkSize, and the numeric bounds are parsed into checkSizeMin and checkSizeMax in USD for sorting and filtering.
Can I scrape several lists at once?
Yes. Pass multiple entries in lists. Each record carries the list it came from.
Is this an official OpenVC tool? No. This actor is independent and has no affiliation with OpenVC. It reads only data that is publicly available on OpenVC investor lists. Use it in accordance with OpenVC's terms.
