Google News Scraper — Search, Monitor & Real Publisher URLs
One actor for Google News data without an API key — keyword search, top headlines, topic feeds, and a multi-keyword watch mode built for scheduled news monitoring and alerts.
Unlike most Google News scrapers, this actor decodes Google's redirect links into the real publisher URLs — rows link straight to reuters.com, ft.com, bloomberg.com articles, not news.google.com/rss/articles/... wrappers.
What it pulls
| Mode | Returns |
|---|---|
search | Latest articles for any query — full Google News operator support: "exact phrase", site:reuters.com, when:1d/when:1h/when:7d, -exclude |
top | Front-page top headlines for any country/language edition |
topic | Section feeds — WORLD, NATION, BUSINESS, TECHNOLOGY, ENTERTAINMENT, SPORTS, SCIENCE, HEALTH |
watch | Multi-keyword monitor — searches each keyword, dedupes across them, emits watch_hit rows tagged by keyword. Built to run on a schedule |
Every row carries: title, url (resolved publisher link), googleNewsUrl, source + sourceUrl, publishedAt (ISO), and the query/keyword/topic it matched.
Why not the alternatives?
- NewsAPI / GNews / Bing News — official APIs with key signup, credit limits, and 24h+ delays on free tiers
- Other GN scrapers — most ship the Google redirect URL; this resolves the real article
- This actor — zero auth, keyless RSS + redirect decoding, language/country editions, and a watch mode designed for
cron-style alerting
Example inputs
// Top US headlines right now (default demo){"mode": "top"}// Watch your brand + competitors — schedule hourly{"mode": "watch", "keywords": ["your company", "competitor name", "industry term"]}// Search with operators — last 24h only{"mode": "search", "query": "\"acme corp\" when:1d"}// Publisher-only feed{"mode": "search", "query": "site:reuters.com artificial intelligence"}// French edition, business section{"mode": "topic", "topic": "BUSINESS", "language": "fr", "country": "FR"}
Example output
{"recordType":"article","title":"Saylor Sees Bitcoin Moving Back Up Beyond $100,000","url":"https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-10-13/strategy-s-saylor-sees-bitcoin-moving-back-up-beyond-100-000","googleNewsUrl":"https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMihAFB…","source":"Bloomberg.com","sourceUrl":"https://www.bloomberg.com","publishedAt":"2026-10-13T18:55:00+00:00","query":"bitcoin when:1d"}{"recordType":"watch_hit","keyword":"artificial intelligence","title":"Google launches flagship AI model Gemini 4 Argon","url":"https://www.reuters.com/technology/…","source":"Reuters","publishedAt":"2026-10-13T22:01:00+00:00"}
Pricing
$1.00 per 1,000 result rows — flat, pay only for what you pull. A 3-keyword watch every hour ≈ 150 rows/day ≈ $0.15/day. A full topic sweep of 50 articles = $0.05.
Compare: NewsAPI business tier $449/mo · GNews paid tiers from $49/mo — for data this actor pulls free.

topicfeeds for niche content discovery in any language edition
FAQ
Do I need a Google API key? No — this uses Google News's public RSS feeds plus redirect decoding. No auth, no billing account.
Are the URLs real article links? Yes — url is resolved to the publisher's canonical link whenever Google exposes it (resolve is on by default; toggle resolveUrls off for a faster run that keeps the Google redirect in googleNewsUrl).
Can I get non-US news? Yes — set language + country (e.g. fr/FR, de/DE, pt-BR/BR) for that Google News edition.
How many results per run? Google News feeds cap around ~100 items per query — maxResults up to 500 covers the realistic feed depth. For more coverage, run more keywords rather than deeper pages.
Does it do scheduled alerts? watch mode + Apify Schedules + a webhook/Zapier = a self-running news monitor. Each run emits only fresh articles tagged by keyword.
Is it legal to scrape this data? The actor only accesses publicly available data — the same pages/APIs a browser sees. Scraping public data for research, monitoring, and analysis is common practice, but platform Terms of Service and the rules in your jurisdiction still apply to how you use it. Consult legal counsel for your specific case.
