Turn barcodes into product data in bulk. Paste EAN-13, UPC-A, EAN-8 or GTIN-14 codes and get the product name, brand, quantity, categories, countries where it is sold, ingredients, allergens, additives, nutrition facts per 100 g, Nutri-Score, NOVA group, eco-score, vegan/vegetarian flags and product photos. Data comes from the open Open Food Facts family of databases (food, beauty, pet food and other products) through their official public API. No login, no API key.

Who is it for?

  • Ecommerce and grocery stores filling product catalogs with names, photos and nutrition facts.
  • Nutrition, diet and health apps checking allergens, Nutri-Score and ingredients.
  • Inventory and point-of-sale tools matching scanned barcodes to products.
  • Researchers and analysts studying food composition and labeling.

How to use it

  1. Paste your barcodes, one per line (spaces and dashes are fine).
  2. Choose which databases to search (all four by default, food first).
  3. Click Start, then download JSON, CSV or Excel, or call it from your app.

Input example

{"barcodes": ["3017624010701", "5449000000996", "737628064502"]}

Output example

{"barcode": "3017624010701", "found": true, "productName": "Nutella", "brands": "Ferrero", "quantity": "400.0 g", "allergens": ["nuts"], "nutriScore": "E", "nutritionPer100g": {"energy-kcal": 539, "fat": 30.9, "sugars": 56.3, "proteins": 6.3}, "imageUrl": "https://images.openfoodfacts.org/...", "url": "https://world.openfoodfacts.org/product/3017624010701"}

How much does it cost?

Pay-per-event: a small fee per product found, plus a tiny per-run start fee, with no subscription and no separate platform usage costs. For example, 1,000 products found cost about $2. Barcodes that are invalid or not in the databases are not charged. Set Maximum cost per run to cap your spending.

Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets. AI agents can find and call it through the Apify MCP server. Output is clean JSON with the same fields on every run.

FAQ

Is it legal? Yes. Open Food Facts is a free, open database built for reuse. Its data is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL) and photos under CC BY-SA, so credit Open Food Facts when you republish. The tool identifies itself, stays within the published rate limit, and does not collect contributor usernames.

Why is a barcode not found? The databases are community-built and strongest for packaged food in Europe and North America. Missing products return a free "not found" row.

How fast is it? About 90 barcodes per minute, which matches the official rate limit.
