Search PubMed's 38+ million biomedical citations, or look up specific PMIDs, and get clean structured data: title, full abstract (with section labels), authors, affiliations, journal, volume, issue, pages, publication date, publication types, language, MeSH terms, keywords, DOI, PMC ID and free full-text links. Uses NCBI's official E-utilities API. No login, no API key.

Who is it for?

  • Researchers, students and librarians running literature reviews and systematic reviews.
  • Pharma, biotech and medtech teams monitoring new publications on a drug, target or disease.
  • AI and RAG builders collecting biomedical abstracts for knowledge bases.
  • Medical writers and analysts tracking journals, topics and trends.

How to use it

  1. Type search queries using normal PubMed syntax, e.g. crispr AND sickle cell or "heart failure"[MeSH] AND 2024[dp].
  2. Optionally add PubMed IDs or PubMed URLs.
  3. Set Max articles per search, sort order, a date range, or only free full text.
  4. Click Start, or schedule it weekly to catch new papers.

Input example

{"searchQueries": ["crispr gene therapy"], "maxResultsPerSearch": 100, "sortBy": "newest", "dateFrom": "2025-01-01"}

Output example

{"pmid": "33301246", "title": "Safety and Efficacy of the BNT162b2 mRNA Covid-19 Vaccine.", "abstract": "BACKGROUND: ...", "authors": ["Fernando P Polack", "Stephen J Thomas"], "journal": "The New England journal of medicine", "publicationDate": "2020-12-31", "doi": "10.1056/NEJMoa2034577", "meshTerms": ["BNT162 Vaccine", "COVID-19"], "freeFullTextUrl": "https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7745181/", "url": "https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33301246/"}

How much does it cost?

Pay-per-event: a small fee per article returned, plus a tiny per-run start fee, with no subscription and no separate platform usage costs. For example, 1,000 articles cost about $1. Searches with no results are not charged. Set Maximum cost per run to cap your spending.

Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets. AI agents can find and call it through the Apify MCP server. Output is clean JSON with the same fields on every run.

FAQ

Is it legal? Yes. It uses NCBI's official public E-utilities API and stays within NCBI's limit for keyless use (3 requests per second). PubMed citation data is free to use. Some abstracts are copyrighted by their publishers, so check the publisher's terms before republishing abstracts in bulk. Email addresses inside affiliations are removed.

Can I get full text? The tool returns links to free full text in PubMed Central when it exists (freeFullTextUrl).

How many results can one search return? Up to 9,999 per query. Split larger topics by date range.
