What does Telegram Keyword Search Monitor do?
Telegram Keyword Search Monitor looks up a keyword, phrase or name inside the public Telegram channels you list. For each hit you get one structured row with the message text, post date, view count, message link, media type, the channel it was forwarded from and any @mentions. Switch on monitor mode and put it on a schedule: every later run returns only the new mentions that appeared since the run before, and those are the only ones you pay for.
Think of it as a Telegram channel search API that needs no Telegram account, phone number or bot token. It reads the public preview pages a browser shows at t.me/s/channelname.
Important: Telegram has no global search on the web. Public search works inside one channel at a time, so you list the channels to watch. To widen the net, turn on channel discovery: the Actor then also searches channels that your channels forward from or @mention.
Why use it?
- Brand and product monitoring: get alerted when your brand, token, app or domain is mentioned in crypto, tech or news channels.
- Crypto and trading research: track a ticker or project name across signal, news and whale-tracking channels.
- Threat and fraud intelligence: watch channels for leaked domains, scam keywords or your company name.
- Market and news research: collect every post about a topic from a set of channels, with dates and views, for analysis.
- AI agents and automations: feed fresh mentions to an LLM, Slack alert, spreadsheet or webhook on a schedule.

How to search Telegram channels for a keyword
- Open the Actor and add one or more public channels (usernames like
durovor links liket.me/durov). - Add your keywords. Every channel is searched for every keyword.
- Optional: turn on Only new messages to use it as a monitor, and Discover related channels to search channels your list points to.
- Click Start. Results appear in the dataset within seconds.
- To get new mentions automatically, create a schedule (for example every hour) with monitor mode on.
How much does it cost?
Pay per result, no monthly fee:
- $2.50 per 1,000 matching messages ($0.0025 each). In monitor mode, only new messages are charged.
- $2 per 1,000 channel profile rows, only if you turn that option on.
- A tiny start fee per run ($0.00005).
- Free: searches with no matches, missing, private or preview-disabled channels, invalid usernames and rate-limit errors.
The Apify free plan includes $5 of monthly credit, which covers about 2,000 messages. You can set a maximum cost per run, and the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached.
Input
{"channels": ["durov", "cointelegraph", "t.me/whale_alert_io"],"keywords": ["bitcoin", "telegram"],"maxMessagesPerSearch": 50,"onlyNew": true,"monitorId": "crypto-watch","includeChannelInfo": false,"discoverChannels": true,"maxDiscoveredChannels": 10}
Output
{"type": "message","keyword": "bitcoin","messageId": 104564,"channel": "whale_alert_io","url": "t.me/whale_alert_io/104564","date": "2026-11-03T17:24:50+00:00","text": "2,022 $BTC (157,120,854 USD) transferred from unknown wallet to unknown wallet","matchedTerms": [],"views": 4370,"mediaType": null,"links": ["(outbound links in the message)"],"mentions": [],"forwardedFrom": null,"channelTitle": "Whale Alert","channelSubscribers": 296000,"isNew": true,"discoveredFrom": null,"error": null}
Searches that find nothing, and channels that cannot be searched, appear as a free row with type: "error", an errorCode (no-matches, no-new-matches, channel-not-found, no-web-preview, invalid-channel, rate-limited) and a readable error. You can download the dataset as JSON, CSV, Excel, XML or HTML, or read it through the Apify API.
Tips
- Telegram's web search returns only recent matches, often only about the latest 20 messages per channel and keyword. For a full history of a busy topic, run it on a schedule in monitor mode so nothing is missed going forward.
- Use a separate Monitor ID for each schedule or task, so they keep separate "already seen" history.
- Short, distinctive keywords work best.
- Keep concurrency at the default 5. The Actor already backs off and retries on rate limits.
FAQ
Can it search all of Telegram?
No. Telegram has no public global search on the web, so no tool without an account can search every channel at once. This Actor searches the channels you list, plus channels found through forwards and @mentions when discovery is on.
Does it need a Telegram account or API key?
No. It reads only public channel preview pages. There is no login, phone number or session.
Why did a channel return "no-web-preview"?
The username exists but is a user, bot, group, private channel or a channel whose owner turned off the web preview. Those cannot be searched without an account, and the row is free.
How does monitor mode work?
For each channel + keyword, the Actor saves the highest message id it delivered. The next run with the same Monitor ID returns only messages with a higher id. The state lives in a named key-value store in your Apify account.
Can I use it from an AI agent or with webhooks?
Yes. Call it through the Apify API or the Apify MCP server, and use Apify webhooks or integrations to push new mentions to Slack, email, Google Sheets or your own endpoint.
