Search TV shows, or look them up by IMDb ID, and get structured data: genres, status, type, language, network or streaming service, schedule, premiere and end dates, runtime, rating, official site, IMDb and TheTVDB IDs, summary, poster, season count, main cast (actor and character names) and, optionally, the full episode list. You can also get daily TV schedules by country and the daily streaming release schedule. Uses the open TVMaze API. No login, no API key.

Who is it for?

  • Entertainment apps, sites and newsletters that need show and episode metadata.
  • Media analysts and marketers tracking premieres, renewals and streaming releases.
  • Recommendation and AI projects that need a clean TV catalog.
  • Fans and data hobbyists building watch lists and episode guides.

How to use it

  1. Type show names to search, or add show IDs (TVMaze IDs or IMDb IDs like tt0903747).
  2. Turn on Include all episodes if you need episode guides, and set Max cast members.
  3. For schedules, add TV schedule countries like US or GB, and turn on Include streaming schedule if you want it.
  4. Click Start and export to JSON, CSV or Excel.

Input example

{"searchQueries": ["the office"], "showIds": ["tt0903747"], "includeEpisodes": true, "scheduleCountries": ["US"]}

Output example

{"type": "show", "name": "Breaking Bad", "genres": ["Drama", "Crime", "Thriller"], "status": "Ended", "premiered": "2008-01-20", "network": "AMC", "rating": 9.2, "imdbId": "tt0903747", "seasonCount": 5, "episodeCount": 62, "cast": [{"actor": "Bryan Cranston", "character": "Walter White"}], "url": "https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/169/breaking-bad"}

Schedule rows have type: scheduled-episode with air date, time, network, show and episode details.

How much does it cost?

Pay-per-event: a small fee per show or scheduled episode returned, plus a tiny per-run start fee, with no subscription and no separate platform usage costs. For example, 1,000 items cost about $1. Searches with no match are not charged. Set Maximum cost per run to cap your spending.

Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets. AI agents can find and call it through the Apify MCP server. Output is clean JSON with the same fields on every run.

FAQ

Is it legal? Yes. TVMaze offers its public API for free, and its data is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0, which allows commercial use as long as you credit TVMaze and link back. Every row includes an attribution line. Cast data is limited to actor and character names; no birthdays or other personal details are included.

Is this IMDb data? No. It comes from TVMaze, but rows include IMDb IDs so you can match shows.

How many results per search? TVMaze returns its 10 best matches per search.
