Paste a list of companies, one per line, and get one unified company profile per line from the official registers of France (Sirene), Norway (Brønnøysund), Poland (KRS) and the United Kingdom (Companies House), joined with the LEI index. Each line can be a company name, a website, a registry number or a LEI. You get clean, flat JSON, CSV or Excel, with the same columns whatever the country.

The actor calls the public APIs of the registers directly, not websites, so it needs no browser and no proxy. For a company it finds, it also reads the company's own website (when the register lists one) and adds the technologies, social profile links, SSL and DNS.

One row layout for five sources. France, Norway, Poland and the UK each describe a company in their own way. Here a legal form, a status, a founding date, an activity code, a registered office, a LEI and the parent company always sit in the same columns.

Companies only. Sole traders and other natural persons are never delivered, and directors, shareholders, e-mail addresses and phone numbers are never read. See the privacy section.

Results of Company Register Lookup Europe: Name, ID, Domain or LEI in the Apify dataset view

What you get

Each company becomes one row with about 40 fields:

  • Identity: name, country, registry number and its type (SIREN, Norwegian organisation number, KRS, Companies House number), the register it came from, and a row ID such as FR:542051180
  • Legal form and status: legal form (label and register code), status (active, closed, bankrupt, in liquidation, deleted), status detail where the register gives it, founding date and the date it ended
  • Activity: the main activity code with the classification it belongs to (NAF, SN2007, PKD, UK SIC) and the activity in words in the register's language
  • Size: number of employees (Norway), employee band and latest published revenue with currency and year (France, where accounts are filed)
  • Registered office: street, postcode, city, region and a one-line address. This is the company's address, never a person's
  • Website and VAT number when the register publishes them
  • LEI and group: the Legal Entity Identifier, and the direct and ultimate parent company (name and LEI) when the company has reported them to the LEI index
  • Website profile: technologies and CMS, analytics, the company's social profile links, SSL expiry and issuer, security headers, name servers, mail provider, SPF and DMARC (switch off with includeDomainProfile)
  • How the line was matched: what you typed, the kind of input, what the company was found by, how sure the match is, and how many companies carry exactly that name
  • Sources: for each register that contributed, its name and the link to the record

Why this actor

  • One run, five sources. Four national registers and the global LEI index in one list, instead of four separate actors with four different outputs.
  • LEI is the bridge. A company known by its French SIREN also gets its LEI, and with it the parent companies. A LEI also leads back to the national register that holds the company.
  • A name is never guessed. By default a line is delivered only when a name in the register equals what you typed (legal-form words such as SE, ASA, Ltd or S.A. are ignored). A close match is delivered only if you ask for it, and the row says it is close. Every row tells you how it was matched and how many companies share that name.
  • Numbers are checked before they are used. A SIREN, a Norwegian organisation number and a LEI carry check digits. A number that fails them is reported as invalid instead of being sent to a register.
  • Honest about what is not found. Lines that match no company, only a person, no exact name, or a website that cannot be tied to a company are not charged and are listed with the reason in the run's coverage report.
  • No persons. Sole traders, personal-name entities and "chez M. ..." address lines are dropped at the source.
  • No proxies, no browser. Public APIs, one request per second to the same host, with an honest user agent that names this actor.
  • You stay in control of cost. Pay per profile delivered. The run stops cleanly when your maximum charge is reached.

How to use it

  1. Open the Actor and fill in Companies (the other fields are optional filters).
  2. Set Maximum companies to a small number for a first try (the default is a safe start).
  3. Click Start. The status line shows progress; the run stops cleanly at your limit or at the charge limit you set in the run options.
  4. Open the Dataset tab and download JSON, CSV, Excel, XML or HTML, or send the rows to Google Sheets, Slack, Make, n8n or Zapier with the Integrations tab.
  5. To run it on a schedule, use Schedules in Apify Console and turn on Only new rows since the last run below: every run then costs only the new rows, and a webhook URL tells you when something new came in.

Input

FieldWhat it does
companiesOne company per line: a name, a website, a registry number or a LEI. Up to 10,000 lines
countriesWhere to look. Default France, Norway, Poland and the UK. Other country codes are searched in the LEI index only
matchModeexact (default), closest or all: see below
maxMatchesPerCountryWith all only: how many companies per register and line (default 5)
includeDomainProfileAdd the website profile (default on). It adds a few seconds per company
ukApiKeyYour own free Companies House API key. Without it the UK is covered through the LEI index only
maxItemsStop after this many profiles. 0 = the whole list
requestIntervalMsPause between two requests to the same host. Default 1000
onlyNew, stateName, notifyUrl, notifyWhenEmptyOnly new rows and notifications: see Automation below

What each kind of line does

  • A name (TotalEnergies, Equinor ASA): searched in the registers you chose and in the LEI index. Delivered when a name matches exactly.
  • A registry number (542051180, 923 609 016, KRS 0000028860, 00445790): the actor works out which register the number belongs to from its length and check digits and reads that record directly. This is the most reliable way to match a company.
  • A LEI (OW6OFBNCKXC4US5C7523): read from the LEI index; the national register record is then added when the LEI points to one.
  • A website (equinor.com): see the limits section. It works when the site shows a registry number in its legal notice, or when a register lists that same website for the company.

Name matching

  • exact (default): a company is delivered only when its name equals what you typed. When several companies carry that name, the active one is delivered and matchCandidates says how many there are.
  • closest: when there is no exact name, the best partial match is delivered and matchQuality says partial or weak.
  • all: every match up to maxMatchesPerCountry per register is delivered, best first.

Example: three companies by name, with the website profile.

Input form of Company Register Lookup Europe: Name, ID, Domain or LEI

Besides the dataset, every run writes two records to its key-value store: RUN_SUMMARY (counts, warnings, requests made) and COVERAGE, which lists every input line with a status: delivered, not found, person skipped, no exact match, no key for the UK, website not linked to a company, blocked, robots disallowed, invalid, already delivered, duplicate or limit reached.

Pricing

Pay per result. You pay for each company delivered to your dataset, nothing else: no subscription, no minimum, no charge for rows your filters drop or for the requests behind them.

Your Apify planPrice per 1,000 rowsPrice per row
Free plan$1.00$0.001
Starter plan$0.95$0.00095
Scale plan$0.85$0.00085
Business plan and above$0.70$0.0007

Example: 1,000 companies cost $1.00 on the Free plan and $0.70 on the Business plan. Platform usage of the run (compute, storage) is included in that price and is not billed to you separately (pay per event: the actor covers it). A start event of $0.00005 is charged once per run (Apify default). Cap your spend: set Maximum total charge in the run options. The actor stops cleanly when the cap is reached and you keep everything delivered until then. The run summary (RUN_SUMMARY in the key-value store) says why a run stopped.

Automation: only new rows, notifications, schedules

Only new rows since the last run. Turn on onlyNew and the actor remembers every company it delivered to you (in a key-value store named rowcraft-company-intelligence-europe-state in your Apify account). The next run with the same stateName skips what you already have and you pay only for new rows. The first run delivers everything that matches. Use a different stateName for each schedule or search so they keep separate memories.

Notification when the run ends. Put a webhook address in notifyUrl and the actor sends one JSON POST with the number of new rows, links to the dataset (JSON and CSV) and the run. It works out of the box with Slack and Discord incoming webhooks (the message is in text and content), with Make, n8n and Zapier catch hooks, and with your own endpoint. By default it is sent only when there is at least one new row; notifyWhenEmpty sends it every time.

Schedules. Create a schedule in Apify Console (hourly, daily, weekly or cron) with onlyNew on. A daily schedule gives you a feed of new companies for the price of the new rows only.

Integrations. Send the results to Make, n8n, Zapier, Google Sheets, Slack, Google Drive, Airtable or any webhooks from the Integrations tab of the Actor, with no code. Apify also offers native actions for Make, n8n and Zapier.

API, SDKs and AI agents. Every run is available through the Apify API and the official JavaScript and Python clients; the Actor can also be called by AI agents through the Apify MCP server. The example input in the API tab is a working call.

Use cases

  • Cleaning a supplier or customer list: turn names typed by hand into registry numbers, legal forms, statuses and registered offices in one export.
  • Enriching a CRM or a prospect list: add the register number, legal form, activity code, size, LEI and the company's website technologies to each line.
  • Mapping groups: from a list of LEIs or companies, get the direct and ultimate parent companies that the LEI index holds.
  • Checking that a company exists and is active: status, founding date and end date straight from the register, with a link to the record.
  • Onboarding and form checks: compare the company name and registered office a customer typed with what the register says.
  • Spotting changes: schedule the run on a fixed list with onlyNew and a webhook to see companies that appear in the results for the first time.

Ready-made examples, each with the input filled in (open one and press Start, or save it as your own task):

What this actor does not do

  • Persons. Sole traders, directors, officers, shareholders, beneficial owners, e-mail addresses and phone numbers are never delivered.
  • Documents and accounts. Annual accounts and filings as documents are not delivered. France's published revenue figure is.
  • Every country. Only France, Norway, Poland and the UK have a national register behind them. Other countries are found in the LEI index only, and only companies that have a LEI appear there.
  • Searching a register by activity, place or size. This actor starts from a list of companies you give it; it does not list all companies of a trade.
  • Credit scores, risk ratings or legal advice. It returns what the registers publish.

Limits and fair use

  • United Kingdom needs your key. Companies House asks every user for a free API key. With your key in ukApiKey, British companies are searched by name and read from the register. Without it, a British company is found only when its LEI record gives its Companies House number; the row then says the number was taken from the LEI record. If Companies House rejects the key or limits the requests, only the UK source stops and the run goes on with the others.
  • Poland by name needs a LEI. The Polish register is read by KRS number. A Polish company typed by name is found only when it has a LEI that carries its KRS number. Give the KRS number to be sure.
  • Other countries by name need a LEI too. Outside France, Norway, Poland and the UK, a company is in the results only when it has a LEI.
  • Websites are the weakest input. The actor reads the home page (after robots.txt) and up to two legal pages, and looks for a registry number that passes its check digits. If none is there, it takes the organisation name from the page and accepts a company only when the register lists that same website for it. A name alone is never trusted. In a test of 25 well-known company websites, 3 were matched this way, 8 refused automated readers, 11 showed no registry number and no matching register entry, and 2 failed to load. Registry numbers and LEIs are far more reliable than websites; use a website only when you have nothing else.
  • Some sites block automated readers. Large sites often sit behind anti-bot protection. The actor does not try to get around it. The row is still delivered from the register when the company is found another way, with a note in domainProfileNote explaining why the website profile is missing.
  • Speed. A company takes about two to five seconds, because the LEI index is asked at most once per second (its limit is 60 requests a minute). Plan for about 1,000 companies per hour. Run several schedules for larger lists.
  • Names are matched, not guessed. Norway's search is loose, so a common word can return thousands of hits. In exact mode only an equal name is delivered.
  • Revenue and employees exist only where the register publishes them: revenue for French companies that file accounts, employees for Norwegian companies that report them.
  • A run reads at most 10,000 lines.

Data source and licence

Sources, all public:

Each row lists its sources with a link to the record. Check the licence of each register for your own use. This actor is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by INSEE, INPI, DINUM, the Brønnøysund Register Centre, the Polish Ministry of Justice, Companies House or the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation.

Privacy: no personal data

Rowcraft actors are built not to collect personal data. This actor copies only company fields:

  • Sole traders and natural persons are excluded in every register: French individual entrepreneurs and legal forms made of people, Norwegian sole proprietorships and personal-name entities, and LEI records of sole proprietors. A line that matches only a person is reported as person_skipped in the coverage record and is not delivered or charged.
  • Directors, officers, shareholders and beneficial owners are never requested from any register.
  • Address complements that name a person ("chez M. ...", "c/o ...") are dropped.
  • No e-mail addresses or phone numbers are collected, from registers or from websites. The website profile holds technologies, social-profile links of the company, SSL, security headers and DNS records only.

You are responsible for using the data in line with the law that applies to you, including the GDPR.

Other Rowcraft actors

All Rowcraft actors read official or public sources, deliver flat rows without personal data and support only-new runs and notifications:

FAQ

Does it work without an API key? Yes for France, Norway, Poland (by KRS number) and the LEI index. For the UK you supply your own free Companies House key; without it, British companies are still found through their LEI record.

What is the difference between a registry number and a LEI? A registry number belongs to one national register (SIREN in France, organisation number in Norway, KRS in Poland, company number in the UK). A LEI is a global 20-character code that some companies hold in addition; it can lead back to the national number and to the parent company.

Which input matches best? A registry number, then a LEI, then an exact name, then a website. Numbers and LEIs go straight to one record.

Why did a line return nothing? Open the COVERAGE record. Each line has a status and a reason: no company found, only similar names, only a person, an invalid number, no UK key, a website that could not be tied to a company, or a blocked source.

Why is my company delivered with only a LEI record? The company is outside France, Norway, Poland and the UK, or you gave no UK key, or its name did not match in the national register. Then the row comes from the LEI index and says so in sources and registerName.

What does matchCandidates mean? The number of companies in the register that carry exactly the name you typed. 1 means the name is unambiguous. When it is higher, the actor delivers the active one, or the best by its rules. Use a registry number to be sure.

Are lines that find nothing charged? No. Only delivered profiles are charged. Duplicates, persons, no match, invalid lines and lines skipped by Only new rows are free.

Can I get the directors or the owners? No. The actor delivers companies only, by design.

Does it ignore the legal form in names? Words such as SE, ASA, AS, Ltd, plc and S.A. are ignored when names are compared, so Equinor matches EQUINOR ASA. Words inside the name are not: Total Energies does not match TOTALENERGIES SE.

Can it list all companies of a trade or a city? No. It starts from the companies you give it. For searches by activity, place or size, see the single-country registers among the Rowcraft actors above.

How much does it cost? $1.00 per 1,000 companies on the Free plan, less on paid plans (see Pricing). You pay only for rows delivered to your dataset; set a maximum total charge in the run options to cap a run.

How do I get the results into Slack, Google Sheets, Make, n8n or Zapier? Use the Integrations tab of the Actor for the data, and the notifyUrl field for a message when a run ends (Slack and Discord webhooks work directly; catch hooks of Make, n8n and Zapier too).

Can I call it from code or from an AI agent? Yes: through the Apify API, the JavaScript and Python clients, and the Apify MCP server. The API tab shows a working example with the input of this Actor.

Is it legal to use this data? The actor reads the official API described in the Data source section and delivers company and job data without personal data. The licence of the source is described above. How you use the data is your responsibility under the law that applies to you.

Does it collect personal data? No. Contact persons, e-mails and phone numbers are removed and fields about people are never requested. See the Privacy section.

The run finished with 0 rows. Did I pay? No: with no rows delivered nothing is charged apart from the start event. Check the run summary (RUN_SUMMARY) for warnings, widen the filters, or run with Only new rows off if everything matching was already delivered to you.
