Check US product listings for warranty and guarantee wording that the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and the FTC's warranty rules and advertising guides treat as a problem. The Warranty Claim Checker flags 'warranty void if removed' and genuine-parts-only conditions, implied warranty disclaimers next to a written warranty, 'lifetime' warranties that don't say whose lifetime, money-back guarantees without terms, 'full' warranties with charges and warranties with no pointer to the terms. Works on Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, Best Buy and Shopify scraper output. Click Start with the prefilled example to see it work.

This is an automated screen of listing text, not a legal determination. It doesn't read the warranty document itself, and whether a rule applies depends on the product and the warrantor. A clean result doesn't mean a warranty complies. Not legal advice; every row carries this disclaimer and a timestamp.

What does the Warranty Claim Checker do?

  • ✅ Tying conditions: 'warranty void if removed', 'using third-party ink voids the warranty', 'use only genuine parts or the warranty is void' (15 U.S.C. 2302(c); 16 CFR 700.10).
  • ✅ Implied warranty disclaimers in listings that also offer a written warranty (15 U.S.C. 2308); limiting implied warranties to the written warranty's duration isn't flagged.
  • ✅ 'Lifetime' warranties that don't say whose or what life (16 CFR 239.4).
  • ✅ Satisfaction and money-back guarantees with no conditions (16 CFR 239.3).
  • ✅ 'Full' warranties next to shipping, labor or service charges (15 U.S.C. 2304).
  • ✅ Warranty mentioned with no pointer to the terms on products over $15 (16 CFR 239.2, 702.3), plus an info note when 'full' or 'limited' isn't shown (16 CFR 700.6).
  • ✅ Output per row: warrantyMentioned, warrantyClaims, price, riskLevel, issueCount, issues (ruleId, severity, message, quote, sourceUrl, fixHint), checkedAt and a disclaimer.

Who is it for?

  • Brands and Amazon/Walmart sellers checking product pages and bullets.
  • Marketplaces and retailers screening third-party listings in bulk.
  • Right-to-repair researchers and consumer groups finding 'warranty void' language at scale.
  • Agencies and compliance teams reviewing client copy.

How to check product listings for warranty claim issues

  1. Click Start with the prefilled example (an ink cartridge with a third-party-ink clause, a mower that disclaims implied warranties, a skillet with an undefined lifetime warranty and a clean drill listing).
  2. Replace the input with your own: title, description and optional warranty, returnPolicy and price.
  3. Or enter a Dataset ID from an Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, Best Buy, eBay or Shopify scraper. Common fields are detected automatically; use Field map for nested ones.
  4. Turn on Only save rows with findings to skip clean rows; you only pay for saved rows.
  5. Export results as CSV, Excel or JSON, or fetch them through the API.

How much does it cost to check listings?

This Actor uses pay-per-event pricing: $0.002 per listing saved plus a $0.00005 start fee per run, plus small platform usage paid by you (a few hundredths of a cent for small runs). That's about $2.00 for 1,000 listings and $20.00 for 10,000 plus usage. With Only save rows with findings on, rows without findings aren't saved or charged. You can set a maximum cost per run in the run options.

Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

  • Run it and get results in one call: https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/ultimatemc~warranty-claim-checker/run-sync-get-dataset-items
  • Use it from AI agents through the Apify MCP server: https://mcp.apify.com?tools=ultimatemc/warranty-claim-checker
  • Schedule it after a daily scraper run, send flagged rows to Slack or email with webhooks, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets.
  • Chain it after any product scraper by passing the scraper's dataset ID.

How it works

Checks are deterministic text rules written from the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302, 2304, 2308), FTC rules in 16 CFR Parts 700 and 702 and the FTC Guides for the Advertising of Warranties and Guarantees (16 CFR Part 239), checked on 2026-11-03. Each finding names the rule and links it. No AI and no external calls.

FAQ

Can a warranty exclude damage caused by third-party parts?

Yes. 16 CFR 700.10 lets a warrantor exclude defects or damage actually caused by unauthorized parts or service. What it prohibits is making coverage depend on using branded parts or service. Exclusions like 'does not cover damage caused by third-party batteries' aren't flagged.

Is 'sold as-is' flagged?

No. Disclaimers are only flagged when the same listing also offers a written warranty.

Does it cover EU guarantees?

No. It checks US federal warranty rules only.

Is it AI?

No. It's a fixed set of rules, so the same input always gives the same result.

Limitations

  • Listing text only; the warranty document itself isn't read.
  • State warranty laws aren't covered.
  • Rules work best on English listings.
