Check Walmart Marketplace product listings for content problems before Walmart rejects, unpublishes or rewrites them. The Walmart Listing Policy Checker reads product names, key features and descriptions and flags promotional wording like Best Seller or Free Shipping, mentions of Amazon or other retailers, contact info and website links, pesticide, FDA, disease and COVID-19 claims, title rule breaks (length, special characters, keyword stuffing, all caps, years) and key feature and description format problems. Each finding shows the exact words, a severity, the Walmart or regulator source and a fix. Click Start with the prefilled example to see it work.

This is an automated text pre-check, not a Walmart decision or legal advice. A clean result doesn't mean a listing will be accepted or stay published; every row carries this disclaimer.

What does Walmart Listing Policy Checker do?

  • ✅ Promotional and status wording: Best Seller, Free Shipping, on sale, % off, limited time, top rated, new arrival, Black Friday, "savings" in a promo context (savings jars and piggy banks are ignored), plus pre-order, sold out and other stock status.
  • ✅ Retailer references: Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Costco, Best Buy, Temu, SHEIN, target.com and other retailers or marketplaces. "Works with Alexa" and the stone amazonite are ignored, and so is your own brand name.
  • ✅ Contact info and links: URLs, emails, phone numbers, "visit our website". California Prop 65 warning links are ignored.
  • ✅ Regulated claims: antibacterial, antimicrobial and "kills 99.9% of germs" (EPA pesticide claims), "FDA approved", disease claims, COVID-19 claims.
  • ✅ Authenticity and placeholder wording: "100% authentic", "genuine product" or "not a fake" (authentic Italian pasta and other food uses are ignored), N/A, TBD, lorem ipsum.
  • ✅ Title rules: missing title, over 150 characters, special characters ~ ! * $ ^ ` @ # < > | [ ] { } (brand-name exception), ALL CAPS, a keyword used more than twice, emojis, years (car-part fitment and calendars are ignored).
  • ✅ Key features: fewer than 3 or more than 10, over 80 characters, special characters, HTML, duplicates. Description: under 150 words, written as a list, double spaces.
  • ✅ Output per listing: riskLevel, issueCount, titleLength, keyFeatureCount, categoriesFlagged, issues (ruleId, severity, field, quote, context, policyUrl, fixHint), checkedAt and a disclaimer.

Who is it for?

  • Walmart Marketplace sellers and brands checking items before a bulk upload or after content feedback.
  • Sellers expanding from Amazon whose copy mentions Amazon, Prime or Amazon-style promotions.
  • Agencies and listing tools that need a Walmart content QA step through an API.
  • Teams using a Walmart product scraper who want to audit their own or competitor items in bulk.

How to check Walmart listings for content problems

  1. Click Start with the prefilled example (one listing with problems, one clean).
  2. Replace the example with your listings: title, keyFeatures (a list, text with one feature per line, or an HTML list), description, and optionally brand and sku. Or paste titles into Titles only.
  3. Or enter a Dataset ID from a Walmart product scraper or your item export. Fields like name, shortDescription, longDescription and brand are found automatically; use Field map for other names.
  4. Turn on Only save listings with possible issues for big catalogs; you only pay for saved rows.
  5. Download results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read them through the API.

],
"description": "This sturdy silicone baking mat set replaces parchment paper for cookies, roasted vegetables, pastry and candy. Each mat lies flat on a standard half sheet pan and releases baked goods without oil or spray. The fiberglass core spreads heat evenly so cookies brown at the same rate across the pan. Mats are food-grade silicone and safe from minus 40 to 480 degrees F, so they also work in the freezer for chilling dough. After baking, rinse with warm soapy water or place on the top rack of the dishwasher, then roll up for storage. The set includes three mats sized 16.5 by 11.6 inches to fit most half sheet pans, and the printed edge guide helps keep spacing even between portions. Use them for kneading dough, rolling fondant, or as a non-slip work surface for crafts. Each mat is about 0.7 millimeters thick, so it stays flexible yet firm, and the set stores flat in a drawer or rolled in a cupboard."

How much does it cost to check Walmart listings?

This Actor uses pay-per-event pricing: $0.005 per listing saved plus a $0.00005 start fee per run, plus small platform usage paid by you (a few hundredths of a cent for small runs). That's about $0.50 for 100 listings and $5 for 1,000 listings plus usage. With Only save listings with possible issues on, clean listings aren't saved or charged. You can set a maximum cost per run in the run options.

Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

  • Run it and get results in one call: https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/ultimatemc~walmart-listing-policy-checker/run-sync-get-dataset-items
  • Use it from AI agents through the Apify MCP server: https://mcp.apify.com?tools=ultimatemc/walmart-listing-policy-checker
  • Schedule it to recheck your catalog weekly, send results with webhooks, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets.
  • Chain it after a Walmart product scraper by passing the scraper's dataset ID.

How it works

Rules are deterministic text patterns written from Walmart Marketplace's public content guidance and US regulator pages, checked on 2026-10-29. No AI and no outside calls are used, so the same text always gives the same result. Severity means: high, commonly leads to rejection, unpublishing or needs approval; medium, likely to be edited or questioned; low, a style guideline or weak signal.

FAQ

Does a clean result mean my listing will be accepted?

No. It means none of these text rules matched. Walmart also checks images, attributes, category requirements, pricing and the product itself.

Is it AI?

No. It's a fixed rule set, so results are repeatable and explainable, and runs are fast and cheap.

Why is a short description flagged?

Walmart's copy standards recommend a description of at least 150 words. It's a low-severity note, not a rejection reason on its own.

Can it read Walmart scraper output?

Yes. Pass the scraper's dataset ID. HTML key feature lists in longDescription are split into separate features.

Does it cover Walmart Canada or Mexico?

No. The rules follow Walmart Marketplace US guidance and US regulations.

Limitations

  • Text only: it doesn't read images, videos or attributes, which Walmart also reviews.
  • Category-specific title formulas and required attributes aren't checked.
  • It can't tell whether you hold an EPA registration or FDA clearance; it flags the wording so you can check.
  • English text only. Rules reflect public guidance as of 2026-10-29 and can lag Walmart's changes.
