Check Amazon product listings for policy problems before Amazon suppresses, rewrites or removes them. The Amazon Listing Policy Checker reads your titles, bullet points, descriptions and backend keywords and flags pesticide and antimicrobial claims, disease and FDA claims, title rule breaks (200-character limit, banned characters, words repeated more than twice, promotional phrases), bullet rule breaks, guarantees and contact info. Each finding shows the exact words, a severity, the policy link and a fix. Click Start with the prefilled example to see it work.

This is an automated text pre-check, not an Amazon decision or legal advice. A clean result doesn't mean a listing is compliant or will stay active.

What does Amazon Listing Policy Checker do?

  • ✅ Pesticide claims: antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-mold, "kills 99.9% of germs", bed bug proof, insect repellent, UV sanitizing, "removes allergens". Amazon treats these as EPA-regulated pesticide claims that need registration and approval. If an EPA Reg. No. is in the text, the flag is lowered.
  • ✅ Prohibited and health claims: "FDA approved", "EPA approved", "chemical-free", COVID-19, and disease claims (cures, treats or prevents arthritis, cancer, flu and about 50 other conditions), with pet "treats" and epoxy "cure time" ignored.
  • ✅ Title rules: over 200 characters, over 75 characters (Amazon's July 27, 2026 item name plus Item Highlights split), the banned characters ! $ ? _ { } ^ ¬ ¦ (brand-name exception), any word used more than twice, promotional phrases, decorative symbols, all caps.
  • ✅ Bullet rules: fewer than three bullets, bullets of 10 or fewer or 255 or more characters, ™ ® © € … ± and other banned characters, emojis, ASINs, placeholders like N/A or TBD, duplicate bullets.
  • ✅ Environmental, guarantee and contact wording: eco-friendly, biodegradable or compostable, "made from bamboo", money-back or full-refund promises, Amazon badge claims, URLs, emails and phone numbers.
  • ✅ Output per listing: riskLevel, issueCount, categoriesFlagged, titleLength, bulletCount, and issues with ruleId, severity, field, quote, context, policyUrl and fixHint, plus checkedAt and a disclaimer.

Who is it for?

  • Amazon sellers and brands checking a catalog before a bulk upload or after a policy change.
  • Agencies and freelancers who write listings for many brands and want a QA step.
  • Listing and repricing tools that need a policy check through an API.
  • Teams using an Amazon product scraper who want to audit competitor or own listings in bulk.

How to check Amazon listings for policy problems

  1. Click Start with the prefilled example (one listing with problems, one clean).
  2. Replace the example with your own listings: title, bullets (a list, or text with one bullet per line), description, and optionally brand, asin and backendKeywords.
  3. Or enter a Dataset ID from an Amazon product scraper or your catalog export. Fields like title, features, description, brand and asin are found automatically; use Field map for other names.
  4. Turn on Only save listings with possible issues for big catalogs; you only pay for saved rows.
  5. Download results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read them through the API.

How much does it cost to check Amazon listings?

This Actor uses pay-per-event pricing: $0.005 per listing saved plus a $0.00005 start fee per run, plus small platform usage paid by you (the prefilled run of two listings used about $0.0001). That's about $0.50 for 100 listings and $5 for 1,000 listings plus usage. With Only save listings with possible issues on, clean listings aren't saved or charged. You can set a maximum cost per run in the run options.

Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

  • Run it and get results in one call: https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/ultimatemc~amazon-listing-policy-checker/run-sync-get-dataset-items
  • Use it from AI agents through the Apify MCP server: https://mcp.apify.com?tools=ultimatemc/amazon-listing-policy-checker
  • Schedule it to recheck your catalog weekly, send results with webhooks, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets.
  • Chain it after an Amazon product scraper by passing the scraper's dataset ID.

How it works

Rules are deterministic text patterns written from Amazon's public seller guidance and US regulator pages, checked on 2026-10-29. No AI and no outside calls are used, so the same text always gives the same result. Severity means: high, commonly leads to suppression or removal or needs approval; medium, likely to be edited, rewritten or questioned; low, a guideline or weak signal. When a weaker finding sits inside a stronger one in the same field, only the stronger is kept.

FAQ

Does a clean result mean my listing is compliant?

No. It means none of these text rules matched. Amazon also reviews images, category rules, approvals and the product itself.

Is it AI?

No. It's a fixed rule set, so results are repeatable and explainable, and runs are fast and cheap.

Can it check listings from an Amazon scraper?

Yes. Pass the scraper's dataset ID. Common field names are detected automatically, and Field map covers the rest.

Why is my 80-character title flagged?

Since July 27, 2026 Amazon's non-media titles use a 75-character item name plus up to 125 characters of Item Highlights. Longer titles are still accepted but may be split or rewritten by Amazon, so it's a low-severity note.

Which marketplaces does it cover?

The rules follow Amazon.com (US) guidance and US regulations. Most title and bullet rules also apply in other Amazon stores, but category and local rules differ.

Limitations

  • Text only: it doesn't read images, A+ content or packaging, which Amazon also checks for claims.
  • Title length rules vary by category; the 200-character check uses the general limit.
  • Repeated-word counting ignores units (oz, ml, pack) and short connecting words, so it may miss some repeats Amazon counts.
  • English text only. Rules reflect public guidance as of 2026-10-29 and can lag Amazon's changes.
  • It can't tell whether you actually hold an EPA registration, FDA clearance or a certification; it flags the wording so you can check.
