SEC Form D Funding Leads output preview: real run results as a table

Companies that just raised private money, one row each, straight from new SEC Form D filings. Every row tells you who is raising, how much they set out to raise, how much is already sold, how many investors are in, when the first sale happened and which officers signed, plus the company's business address and phone. Official EDGAR data, no login, no API key, $0.0025 per filing ($2.50 per 1,000).

What you get: a clean lead table of Regulation D private placements (Rule 506(b), 506(c), 504 and more), filtered to the industries, states, cities and deal sizes you care about, with investment funds removed by default and a monitor mode that only returns filings you have not seen yet.

Who it is for: B2B sales and SDR teams selling to newly funded companies, VCs and scouts building deal flow, bankers, lenders, accountants, lawyers and insurance brokers looking for companies with fresh capital, and analysts tracking private-market activity.

One real row (filed 2026-10-15, from one of our own runs):

What is Form D, and why it makes a good lead list

Form D is the notice a company must file with the SEC within 15 days of the first sale of securities in a private placement that relies on Regulation D. In plain terms: when a startup closes the first money of a seed or Series A round, when a real estate sponsor raises from accredited investors, or when an operating company sells a private note, a Form D usually follows within two weeks.

That makes Form D one of the earliest public, official signals that a company has new money to spend. Press releases are optional and often come late; Form D is a legal filing with standard fields. This actor reads the SEC's daily EDGAR index, opens every new Form D, and turns it into a flat row you can filter, sort and import into a CRM.

Startup funding leads from an official source: a company selling securities in a private round files Form D with the SEC within 15 days of the first sale. With pooled investment funds excluded (the default), each row is a company that just reported a raise, with the amount sold, the number of investors and the officers who signed. Not every filer is a startup; the filters below narrow the list.

Run it now. Paste this into the Input tab (JSON view) and press Start:

{
"lookbackDays": 3,
"excludePooledFunds": true,
"maxResults": 50,
"onlyNewSinceLastRun": false
}

At most 50 filings x $0.0025 plus a $0.00005 start fee = about $0.13 for this input. Measured: default-input test runs on 2026-10-11 (5 filings) took 3.1 to 3.8 seconds of run time.

Run in 30 seconds

  1. Open the prefilled run (free Apify account; it creates a saved task with a working input).
  2. Press Start. The input is small on purpose, so the first run is quick and costs a few cents at most.
  3. Open the Output tab, switch to Table view, download as CSV, Excel or JSON.

Ready-made presets by use case (each opens as a saved task you can edit):

Why teams use this actor

  • Lead-ready rows, not raw XML. Each Form D becomes one flat row: issuer, industry, offering size, amount sold, amount remaining, investor count, first-sale date, exemptions, officers and the company's business phone. Amounts are numbers and dates are ISO, so sorting and filtering work in any spreadsheet.
  • Funds out by default. Pooled investment funds (VC, PE and hedge funds raising their own capital) are dropped unless you want them, and an optional switch also removes LP, L.P., LLLP and "Fund" vehicles, so the list leans toward operating companies.
  • Filters that match how sales teams slice territory: industry group, state, city, minimum amount sold and minimum offering size.
  • Monitor mode. Schedule it daily and each run returns only filings you have not received before, so you are charged once per filing, ever.
  • Honest about gaps. If an issuer declares an offering "Indefinite" or leaves a field blank, you get null, not a guess.
  • Cheap to test. $0.0025 per filing returned, and filtered-out filings are never charged.
  • Tested. 109 automated checks (104 in the main suite plus 5 cost-limit checks) pass on the current code, last run 2026-10-19.

Quick start

Zero config: press Start. You get up to 25 Form D filings from the last 3 business days, pooled funds excluded, usually in well under a minute.

Example 1: recently funded biotech in California or Massachusetts, at least $1M sold

{ "lookbackDays": 10, "industryGroups": ["Biotechnology", "Pharmaceuticals"], "states": ["CA", "MA"], "minAmountSold": 1000000, "maxResults": 100 }

Example 2: daily feed of new raises of $5M+ including amendments

{ "lookbackDays": 1, "includeAmendments": true, "minOfferingAmount": 5000000, "onlyNewSinceLastRun": true, "maxResults": 500 }

Example 3: tech companies in your city, operating companies only

{ "lookbackDays": 5, "industryGroups": ["Other Technology", "Computers"], "cities": ["Austin"], "excludeLimitedPartnerships": true, "maxResults": 100 }

Schedule example 2 daily: with onlyNewSinceLastRun on, each run returns only filings you have not received before.

Pricing

Pay per event: $0.0025 per Form D filing returned ($2.50 per 1,000) plus a $0.00005 start fee. Filings that are filtered out or already delivered in an earlier run are never charged. Set a maximum cost per run in the run options and the actor stops cleanly when it is reached, keeping the rows already delivered.

VolumeCost at today's price
1,000 filings$2.50
Zero-config default run (up to 25 filings)about $0.06
Daily feed, about 40 new operating-company raises a dayabout $0.10 per day
Weekly sweep, 500 filingsabout $1.25

Scheduled change: from October 30, 2026 the price per filing becomes $0.0019. The Pricing tab on this page always shows the price that applies to your run.

Apify's free plan includes $5 of monthly platform credit, which covers up to about 2,000 Form D filings with this actor at $0.0025 each. Paid Apify plans get the same data with no monthly cap; scheduled daily runs stay cheap because each run only returns new records.

Use it with the API, n8n, Make, Zapier, Clay and AI agents

  • API: POST https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/transparent_meteorite~sec-form-d-funding-leads/runs with your input as the JSON body, then read the dataset items.
  • n8n, Make, Zapier: use the Apify integration to run the actor on a schedule and push rows to your CRM, Slack or a Google Sheet.
  • Clay and CRMs: import the dataset as CSV or JSON, match on company name and businessPhone, enrich contacts with your own tool.
  • AI agents: the actor is available through the Apify MCP server, so an agent can call it with filters ("biotech raises in Texas over $2M this week") and read structured rows.

Use from AI agents (MCP, ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity)

SEC Form D Funding Leads works as a tool for AI assistants through the official Apify MCP server. Add this server URL to any MCP client (Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT connectors, VS Code):

https://mcp.apify.com/?actors=transparent_meteorite/sec-form-d-funding-leads

Claude Desktop / Cursor config:

{
"mcpServers": {
"apify": {
"url": "https://mcp.apify.com/?actors=transparent_meteorite/sec-form-d-funding-leads",
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>" }
}
}
}

Then ask in plain language, for example: "How do I get a list of companies that just raised money?"

Call it directly over HTTP (runs the actor and returns the dataset items in one request):

curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/transparent_meteorite~sec-form-d-funding-leads/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=$APIFY_TOKEN" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"lookbackDays": 3, "excludePooledFunds": true, "maxResults": 50, "onlyNewSinceLastRun": false}'

The same actor works in n8n, Make, Zapier, LangChain, LlamaIndex and CrewAI through their Apify integrations.

Questions people ask

How do I get a list of companies that just raised money? Run this actor with lookbackDays 3 and excludePooledFunds true; each row is a company that filed a Form D in that window.

Is Form D data an official source? Yes, it comes from SEC EDGAR filings.

Can I filter by industry or amount? Yes, use industryGroups, states, cities, minAmountSold and minOfferingAmount.

Use it from code

Small real input: it returns only a couple of rows, so a test run costs very little (see Pricing). Set the APIFY_TOKEN environment variable to your token from Apify Console > Settings > API & Integrations.

Python (pip install apify-client)

import os
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient(os.environ["APIFY_TOKEN"])
run_input = {'lookbackDays': 3, 'maxResults': 2, 'onlyNewSinceLastRun': False}
run = client.actor("transparent_meteorite/sec-form-d-funding-leads").call(run_input=run_input)
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
print(item)

JavaScript / Node.js (npm install apify-client)

import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
const client = new ApifyClient({ token: process.env.APIFY_TOKEN });
const input = {
"lookbackDays": 3,
"maxResults": 2,
"onlyNewSinceLastRun": false
};
const run = await client.actor('transparent_meteorite/sec-form-d-funding-leads').call(input);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
console.log(items);

curl (runs the actor and returns the dataset items in one call)

curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/transparent_meteorite~sec-form-d-funding-leads/run-sync-get-dataset-items" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $APIFY_TOKEN" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"lookbackDays": 3, "maxResults": 2, "onlyNewSinceLastRun": false}'

Send results to Google Sheets, Zapier, Make or n8n

  • Google Sheets: every run's dataset has a CSV export link: https://api.apify.com/v2/datasets/<DATASET_ID>/items?format=csv&clean=true (the dataset ID is on the run's Storage tab). In Sheets, =IMPORTDATA("<that link>") loads it. Anyone with the link can read that dataset, so share it carefully. To export to Google Drive automatically, use the Google Drive integration on the actor's Integrations tab.
  • Zapier: in the Apify app, use the trigger Finished Actor run (or Run Actor as an action) with transparent_meteorite/sec-form-d-funding-leads, then Fetch dataset items and pass the rows to Google Sheets, a CRM or Slack.
  • Make: the Apify app has Watch Actor Runs, Run an Actor and Get Dataset Items modules; connect them to any Make app.
  • n8n: install the Apify node (@apify/n8n-nodes-apify) and use Run an Actor and get dataset, or the On new Apify event trigger.
  • Schedule and webhooks: create a Task with your input, add a Schedule in Apify Console, and add a webhook if you want a call when a run finishes.

See the Apify integrations docs for setup steps.

Use cases

  • Startup funding leads by sector: industryGroups (for example Biotechnology or Business Services) plus minAmountSold keep only meaningful raises.
  • Regional startup funding leads: states (for example CA, NY, TX) or cities keep companies with a business address in your territory.
  • B2B sales and SDR outbound: a company that just sold $3M of a $10M round is often hiring, buying software and choosing vendors. Reach it in the weeks after the first sale, while budgets are being set.
  • VC and angel deal flow: a structured feed of new private offerings by industry, state and size, including companies still mid-round (amount remaining above zero).
  • Banking, lending and treasury: newly funded companies need operating accounts, credit lines and cash management. Filter by your region and a minimum amount sold.
  • Accounting, legal and insurance: fresh capital usually means a first audit, cap-table work, D&O insurance and benefits. Use cities to stay local.
  • Commercial real estate and sponsors: track real estate syndications (Residential, Commercial, Other Real Estate) and who is raising in your market.
  • Market research: schedule a daily run and build a time series of private-offering activity by industry and state.

Doing it yourself vs this actor

EDGAR is free and public, and you can read Form D filings there yourself. This actor turns the daily filings into a filtered lead table (funds and LPs removed if you want, industry, location and amount filters, only-new mode). Commercial funding databases may add verified round details and investor names; this actor reports exactly what the issuer filed on Form D.

Limitations

  • A Form D is a notice of a raise, not a press release. Amounts are what the issuer reported; the round may be larger, smaller or still open.
  • Investors are not named, only counted.
  • No email addresses and no related-person home addresses.
  • The daily index lists filings alphabetically. With a small maxResults and a wide lookbackDays you get the first matching filings in that order, not the largest. Use minAmountSold or minOfferingAmount to focus.
  • "Lookback" counts business days (Monday to Friday). Holidays and a not-yet-published current day are skipped automatically.
  • Scanning a wide window with narrow filters fetches every filing in it (about 7 per second), so such runs take longer.
  • Only Form D and D/A are covered (not Regulation A, Form 1-K or other exempt-offering forms).
  • There is no free-text keyword search on company names; filter by industry, location and amount, or search the exported table.

Reliability

Last 30 days, measured from Apify run records (all runs, including our own daily health checks): 23 of 23 finished runs succeeded (100.0%), median run time 9.6 s (90th percentile 29.4 s). Aborted runs (0) are not counted.

Updated 2026-10-11 automatically every week from the run history. Report any failure on the Issues tab with the run URL.

FAQ

Are all Form D filers startups? No. Form D is filed by any issuer raising money in a private placement, including established companies and investment funds. Keep excludePooledFunds on (the default) and use industryGroups, states and minAmountSold to narrow the list to the startup funding leads you want.

How quickly do new startup funding leads show up? The actor reads the SEC EDGAR daily index, so a filing is available once EDGAR has indexed it. Form D itself is due within 15 days of the first sale.

Is this legal and allowed? It reads the SEC's public EDGAR daily index and filing documents, which the SEC publishes for anyone. No login or paywall is involved. The actor identifies itself with a descriptive User-Agent and stays under 5 requests per second, as SEC fair-access rules require. How you use the contact data is up to you and your local rules.

How do I find recently funded startups from SEC filings? Run this actor with excludePooledFunds on (default) so pooled funds are removed, then filter by industry, state and minAmountSold. Each row is a company that reported a private placement.

What is the difference between Form D and a press release about a funding round? Form D is a legal notice of a securities offering, filed after the first sale. It shows the offering size and amount sold, but it does not name investors and may not match announced round sizes. See the limitations below.

What do the exemption codes mean? 06b is Rule 506(b) (no general solicitation, accredited investors plus a limited number of others), 06c is Rule 506(c) (general solicitation allowed, all investors verified as accredited), and 04 is Rule 504 (small offerings). The codes are passed through exactly as filed.

Can I get emails for the people listed? No. Form D lists officers, directors and promoters by name and role only. Their addresses are not included in the output. The phone is the issuer's business phone as filed.

How fresh is the data? Filings appear in the EDGAR daily index the business day after they are accepted. Run it daily with onlyNewSinceLastRun to get each filing once.

Why are some amounts empty? Issuers may declare an offering "Indefinite" or leave a field blank. The actor returns null rather than guessing, and offeringIsIndefinite tells you which case it was.

How does dedupe work across runs? Delivered accession numbers are stored in a named key-value store (sec-form-d-funding-leads-seen) that persists between runs. Change stateStoreName to keep separate feeds, or turn onlyNewSinceLastRun off to get everything again.

This Actor vs logiover/sec-edgar-form-d-scraper: both need no API key. This one returns lead-ready rows with offering size, amount sold, investor count, officers and business phone, filters by industry, state, city and amount, and has an only-new monitor.

More questions

How do I get a list of companies that just raised money? Run the actor with lookbackDays; it reads the official SEC EDGAR Form D filings and returns one row per filing with the issuer, amounts and industry.

Can I exclude investment funds? Yes. excludePooledFunds drops pooled investment funds, and excludeLimitedPartnerships drops issuers whose names end in LP, L.P., LLLP or Fund.

Can I filter by industry, state or size? Yes: industryGroups, states, cities, minAmountSold and minOfferingAmount.

Is this an official source? Yes. Data comes from SEC EDGAR. Amounts are as reported by the issuer.

Can I get only new filings each day? Yes. onlyNewSinceLastRun (on by default) skips filings already returned.

What the free plan gets you

Free plan: up to about 2,000 funding filings from your $5 monthly Apify credit (at $0.0025 each, today's price); default settings return up to 25 rows. Need more? Upgrade your Apify plan or set a higher result limit in the input.
