Quick start (no coding)

Podcast Transcript quick start: click Try for free, paste your input, click Start, export to Excel

  1. Click Try for free at the top of this page. A free Apify account is enough – it includes monthly credit.
  2. In Podcast links, paste one RSS feed or Apple Podcasts show/episode link per line.
  3. Click Start. A 15-minute episode takes about 15 seconds; long episodes are transcribed in parallel pieces.
  4. When it says Succeeded, open the Output tab and click Export → Excel (or CSV). One row per episode: the transcript column has the text (plus timestamps or SRT if turned on).

Cost: $0.004 per minute of speech – a 45-minute episode ≈ $0.18. Music-only and failed episodes are free.

Common mistakes

  • Only 3 episodes came back → raise Max episodes per podcast (newest first).
  • A long episode was skipped → raise Max length per item (minutes) (default 180).
  • Pasting the show's website → paste its RSS feed or Apple Podcasts link instead.
  • Want to know who said what → turn on Speaker labels (beta, + $0.001 per minute).

Use from Claude, Cursor or any MCP client

Add https://mcp.apify.com?tools=tubetext/podcast-transcript as a remote MCP server and sign in to Apify (Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector). Claude Code:

$claude mcp add --transport http tubetext "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=tubetext/podcast-transcript"

Then ask, for example: "Transcribe the latest 3 episodes of this podcast and list the guests and main topics: [RSS or Apple Podcasts link]" or "Transcribe this episode with speaker labels and quote the best 3 lines."

🆓 Free to try: Apify's free plan includes $5 of usage every month, no credit card needed – enough for about 1,200 minutes of audio (20 hours) with this tool.

What you get – real output from a test run, shortened. One row per episode:

Turn podcast episodes into text with Whisper AI. Paste an RSS feed or an Apple Podcasts show or episode link and get the newest episodes as a clean transcript, [mm:ss] timestamps, SRT or RAG chunks – with show, episode title, date and length. Long episodes are fine. For newsletters, show notes, research, SEO and AI pipelines. No login, no API key.

Why this one

  • 🎙️ Feeds or Apple links – an RSS feed or an Apple Podcasts show link is enough; the newest N episodes are picked up automatically.
  • ⏱️ Long episodes are fine – audio is split into 10-minute pieces and transcribed in parallel: a 15-minute news episode took 14 seconds, and a 3 h 44 min episode came back complete (29,165 words).
  • 🗣️ Who said what (beta) – turn on Speaker labels and every episode gets speakers (S1, S2… with real names when they are said in the episode, plus speaking time) and speakerText with one line per speaker turn, labelled sentence by sentence – e.g. "[10:04] S8 (Aya Batraoui): Good morning, Michelle." / "[10:05] S1 (Michelle Martin): So tell us what's been happening in Riyadh." In a 16-minute NPR episode the hosts and reporters were named and the ad reads came out as separate speakers.
  • 🌍 Any language – Whisper large-v3 detects the spoken language automatically.
  • 🧩 Ready for AI – timestamped text for show notes and quotes, SRT and WebVTT, and word chunks with timestamps for embeddings.
  • 💸 Pay per minute of speech – music-only audio, songs and failed episodes are free.

FAQ

How accurate are speaker labels? It's a beta estimate made by AI from the transcript's wording and turn-taking – not voice recognition. Labels are assigned per sentence, so a quick question inside a long answer is usually split out, but a host can occasionally be split into two IDs and name spellings follow the transcript. Good for show notes and quotes; check before publishing.

Which links work? Podcast RSS feeds and Apple Podcasts show or episode links (podcasts.apple.com/…). For a show link you get the newest episodes (Max episodes per podcast, default 3). Links from other sites get a free row pointing to Podcast & Video Transcript.

How long can an episode be? Max length per item is 180 minutes by default; raise it for longer episodes. Longer episodes are skipped for free, so a run never surprises you.

Can I monitor a show for new episodes? Yes – save the input as a task and schedule it daily with Max episodes per podcast set to 1.

How accurate is the transcript? It is Whisper speech recognition (large-v3), and the language is detected automatically. Clear speech comes out well; names, jargon and noisy audio can be misheard. Check important quotes against the source.
