Keyword Suggestions Scraper (Google, YouTube, Amazon, Bing)

Scrape keyword suggestions from Google, YouTube, Amazon, and Bing autocomplete APIs. Extract related keywords with optional alphabetic and question-word expansion, multi-source deduplication, and recursive depth.

What is the Keyword Suggestions Scraper?

The Keyword Suggestions Scraper is a tool that extracts keyword suggestions from four major search engines' autocomplete APIs. It queries Google, YouTube, Amazon, and Bing to generate lists of related keywords, and optionally expands queries using alphabet characters (A–Z) or common question words (who, what, why, how). The Actor deduplicates results across sources and can recursively expand suggestions for deeper keyword research.

What data does the Keyword Suggestions Scraper extract?

The Actor returns one dataset row per unique keyword suggestion, with the following fields:

FieldTypeDescription
keywordstringThe suggested keyword
seedKeywordstringThe original keyword used to generate this suggestion
querySentstringThe exact query sent to the source (seed + expansion)
sourcestringThe source API: google, youtube, amazon, or bing
positionintegerPosition in the suggestions list (0-indexed)
languagestringLanguage code used for the query
countrystringCountry code used for the query
depthintegerRecursion depth: 1 = original seed, 2 = re-queried suggestions
scrapedAtstringTimestamp of the scrape (ISO 8601 UTC)

How to use the Keyword Suggestions Scraper

  1. Enter keywords: Provide one or more keywords separated by semicolons, e.g., "running shoes; standing desk".

  2. Select sources: Choose which search engines to query: Google (default), YouTube, Amazon, and/or Bing. Multi-source runs deduplicate keywords across all sources.

  3. Set language and country: Configure the language (e.g., en, de, fr) and country code (e.g., US, GB, DE) for locale-specific results.

  4. Choose expansion mode: Select how to expand queries:

    • none (default): Fetch suggestions for the exact keywords only.
    • alphabet: For each keyword, also fetch suggestions for "keyword a", "keyword b", ..., "keyword z" (27 queries total).
    • questions: For each keyword, fetch suggestions for question words ("who keyword", "what keyword", etc.) and prepositions ("keyword for", "keyword with", etc.).
  5. Set recursion depth: Use maxDepth: 1 (default) to fetch suggestions for seed keywords only, or maxDepth: 2 to recursively fetch suggestions of the suggestions for deeper research.

  6. Set keyword limit: Configure the maximum number of keywords to extract. Default is 200.

Example input

{
"keywords": "coffee maker; standing desk",
"sources": ["google", "amazon", "youtube", "bing"],
"language": "en",
"country": "US",
"expand": "alphabet",
"maxDepth": 1,
"maxKeywords": 300
}

This will scrape suggestions for "coffee maker" and "standing desk" from all four sources, with A–Z expansion (26 additional queries per keyword), limiting to 300 unique keywords total.

Input parameters

  • keywords (required, string or array): One or more keywords separated by semicolons (e.g., "running shoes; standing desk") or as an array. Aliases: keyword, query.
  • sources (array, default: ["google"]): Which search engines to query. Options: google, youtube, amazon, bing.
  • language (string, default: en): Language code for locale-specific results (e.g., en, de, fr).
  • country (string, default: US): Country code for locale-specific results (e.g., US, GB, DE, FR, IT, ES, CA, IN, JP, TR).
  • expand (string, default: none): Expansion mode: none, alphabet, or questions.
  • maxDepth (integer, default: 1, max: 2): Recursion depth. Use 2 to re-query the suggestions themselves for deeper research.
  • maxKeywords (integer, default: 200, max: 10000): Maximum keywords to extract per run.

Pricing

The Keyword Suggestions Scraper costs $0.0005 per keyword suggestion. A run with 200 keywords in the default configuration costs approximately $0.001.

Limitations

  • API rate limits: Google, YouTube, Amazon, and Bing enforce rate limits. The Actor backs off automatically on 429 responses and retries after a delay.
  • Expansion modes can multiply requests: Alphabet expansion generates 26 additional queries per keyword; question expansion generates ~17 additional queries per keyword. Plan maxKeywords accordingly.
  • Depth 2 recursion: When enabled, maxDepth: 2 re-queries the first-pass suggestions, which can significantly increase request count. Start with maxDepth: 1 for cost-conscious exploration.
  • Source availability: Amazon suggestions are available only for 10 supported marketplaces. Other marketplaces default to the US marketplace.
  • Direct API access: Results reflect real autocomplete behavior without browser rendering or login.

FAQ

Q: Why are some keywords deduplicated across sources? A: The Actor deduplicates keywords within each source to avoid charging you for the same suggestion twice. Keywords appearing in multiple sources are counted only once per source.

Q: Can I use this for SEO keyword research? A: Yes. The Actor extracts real autocomplete suggestions that reflect what people search for. Combine multi-source results and expansion modes to build comprehensive keyword lists for SEO, content strategy, and paid search.

Q: Is this legal? A: Querying public autocomplete APIs is legal and does not violate terms of service. These APIs are designed for this purpose. However, respect rate limits and use reasonable request intervals.

Q: What if a source returns an error? A: Errors are logged to the ERRORS record in the Actor's storage and are not charged. The Actor continues with other sources and keywords.

Q: How do I get keywords in a specific language? A: Set the language parameter to the desired language code (e.g., de for German, fr for French). The country parameter further refines locale-specific results.
