Get street-level crime records for any UK postcode or coordinates from the official data.police.uk API. Each row covers one recorded crime within about one mile of the location, with its category, month, approximate street, coordinates, police force area, and the latest outcome (for example "Investigation complete; no suspect identified"). You can choose all crime or one category (burglary, vehicle crime, violent crime, shoplifting and more) and the latest months or specific months. A free optional summary row counts crimes by category. No login, no API key.

Who is it for?

  • Home buyers, renters and relocation services comparing neighbourhood safety.
  • Estate agents and property portals adding crime stats to listings.
  • Retailers, insurers and security firms assessing risk near sites.
  • Journalists, councils and researchers studying local crime trends.

How to use it

  1. Enter locations as UK postcodes (for example SW1A 1AA) or latitude,longitude.
  2. Choose a crime category (the default is all crime).
  3. Set Latest N months, or list specific months such as 2026-07.
  4. Optionally add the free summary row.
  5. Click Start and export to CSV, Excel or JSON.

Input example

{"locations": ["M1 1AE", "LS1 4AP"], "category": "burglary", "latestMonths": 3, "includeSummaryRow": true}

Output example

{"crimeId": 123456789, "month": "2026-08", "category": "burglary", "categoryName": "Burglary", "street": "On or near Park Lane", "latitude": 53.79, "longitude": -1.54, "outcome": "Investigation complete; no suspect identified", "outcomeDate": "2026-08", "searchLocation": "LS1 4AP"}

How much does it cost?

Pay-per-event: a small fee per crime returned, plus a tiny per-run start fee. There is no subscription and no separate platform usage cost. For example, 1,000 crimes cost about $0.50. Searches with no matches and error rows are not charged. Set Latest N months or Maximum cost per run to cap your spending.

Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets. AI agents can find and call it through the Apify MCP server. Output is clean JSON with the same fields on every run.

FAQ

Is it legal? Yes. Police data is published by the Home Office at data.police.uk under the Open Government Licence v3.0, which allows commercial reuse with attribution ("Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0"). The data is anonymised: locations are snapped to approximate points, and no names are included.

How fresh is the data? Forces publish monthly, usually about two months behind. The tool uses the latest month available.

Why are there no crimes for Greater Manchester? Greater Manchester Police has not been supplying street-level data to data.police.uk, so Manchester postcodes may return no rows. These searches are not charged.

Does it cover Scotland? No. Police Scotland does not publish to data.police.uk. England, Wales and Northern Ireland are covered.

Why does the street say "On or near"? Locations are anonymised to the nearest standard map point for privacy.
