What is StockTwits Scraper?

StockTwits Scraper collects messages from StockTwits, the largest social network for traders and investors, for any stock, ETF or crypto ticker. Every message comes back as one clean row: text, the author's Bullish/Bearish sentiment tag, likes, reshares, every ticker mentioned, the price of each ticker at posting time, links, images and author stats. A second mode returns StockTwits' current trending symbols with watchlist counts and a summary of why each one is trending. It reads StockTwits' public API — no login, no cookies, no browser. Run it from the Apify Console, the API, a schedule, or an AI agent through MCP.

How to use StockTwits Scraper

  1. Pick a Mode: messages for your tickers, or the trending list.
  2. Enter Symbols, one per line — AAPL, TSLA, SPY; crypto uses the .X suffix: BTC.X, ETH.X.
  3. Set Max messages per symbol (newest first; StockTwits serves 30 per page) and optionally keep only Bullish or Bearish messages.
  4. Click Start, then export the dataset as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or read it through the API.

How much does it cost?

Pricing: StockTwits Scraper costs $0.50 per 1,000 results on the free plan, with volume discounts on paid Apify plans (pay per result, platform usage included).

Pulling the latest 300 messages for 10 tickers (3,000 rows) costs about $1.50. Set Maximum cost per run to cap any run.

Use cases

  • Retail sentiment signals — share of Bullish vs. Bearish tags per ticker per hour, as an input to a trading model or a dashboard.
  • Momentum and hype detection — the trending list plus message volume flags tickers the crowd is suddenly talking about.
  • Event monitoring — schedule a run every 15 minutes around earnings and send new messages to Slack or a webhook.
  • NLP datasets — labelled (Bullish/Bearish) financial social-media text for training and evaluating sentiment models.

Limits

  • sentiment is the author's own tag; most messages have none (null). It is not a model's prediction.
  • Messages come newest-first; how far back a stream goes depends on StockTwits.
  • Public data only — no private messages, no watchlists of individual users.

Using StockTwits Scraper with AI agents

The Actor is pay-per-event with limited permissions, so assistants with the Apify MCP server (mcp.apify.com) can call it directly: "what is the retail mood on NVDA right now?" becomes one tool call returning tagged messages to summarise.

FAQ

Do I need a StockTwits account or API key? No. The Actor uses StockTwits' public, unauthenticated API.

How do I scrape crypto? Add the .X suffix: BTC.X, ETH.X, SOL.X.

Is this investment advice? No. It collects public social-media posts for research. Messages are opinions of their authors.

Is scraping StockTwits legal? The Actor reads publicly available posts through StockTwits' public API. You are responsible for how you use the data and for following StockTwits' terms.
