Get official Medicare Care Compare data for hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, hospices and dialysis facilities across the United States, from the CMS Provider Data Catalog. You can filter by state, city, ZIP code, name and minimum star rating. Each row includes the CMS certification number (CCN), name, address, county, star rating, ownership type, coordinates where CMS has them, a link to the facility's Care Compare page, and type-specific fields: hospital type and emergency services, nursing home beds and chain size, dialysis stations and chain. Optionally, each row adds a measures object with every published quality figure, such as staffing hours, inspection results, fines, readmission and mortality comparisons, and patient survey counts. Telephone numbers and chain owner names are not returned. No login or API key is needed.

Who is it for?

  • Healthcare sales and marketing teams building B2B lists of facilities with size and quality data.
  • Investors and consultants screening hospitals, nursing homes and home health operators.
  • Patients, families and placement services comparing local options.
  • Researchers and journalists studying care quality by region and ownership.

How to use it

  1. Choose one or more facility types (the default is hospitals).
  2. Add states (the default is CA), and optionally a city, ZIP codes or name contains.
  3. Optionally set a minimum star rating and turn quality measures on or off.
  4. Set Max results and click Start.

Input example

{"facilityTypes": ["nursing-home", "dialysis"], "states": ["NY"], "city": "Brooklyn", "minStarRating": 4, "maxResults": 500}

Output example

{"facilityType": "nursing-home", "ccn": "335003", "name": "THE EMERALD PEEK REHABILITATION AND NURSING CENTER", "city": "PEEKSKILL", "state": "NY", "zip": "10566", "starRating": 4, "ownership": "For profit - Limited Liability company", "certifiedBeds": 100, "careCompareUrl": "https://www.medicare.gov/care-compare/details/nursing-home/335003"}

How much does it cost?

Pay-per-event: a small fee per facility returned, plus a tiny per-run start fee. There is no subscription and no separate platform usage cost. For example, 1,000 facilities cost about $1. Searches with no matches and error rows are not charged. Use Max results or Maximum cost per run to cap your spending.

Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets. AI agents can find and call it through the Apify MCP server. Output is clean JSON with the same fields on every run.

FAQ

Is it legal? Yes. Care Compare data is published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) through its public Provider Data Catalog API for reuse. It describes facilities, not patients. The tool leaves out telephone numbers and nursing home chain names, which are sometimes a person's name.

How fresh is the data? CMS refreshes most datasets monthly or quarterly. The measures object includes processing and measurement period fields where CMS provides them.

Why do hospitals have no coordinates? The CMS hospital dataset has no latitude or longitude. Nursing homes do.

Why no star rating for hospices? CMS does not publish a single overall star rating for hospices in this dataset, so the minimum-rating filter skips them.

Is this medical advice? No. Use Care Compare and your doctor for care decisions.
