Get a clean worldwide airports database from OurAirports, the open-data project covering more than 80,000 airports, heliports, seaplane bases and airstrips. Each row includes the IATA, ICAO, GPS and local codes, name, type (large, medium or small airport, heliport, seaplane base, closed), latitude, longitude and elevation, continent, country and region names, city, scheduled airline service flag, website, Wikipedia link and keywords. Optionally it adds runways (count, longest runway, each runway's ends, length, width, surface and lighting) and radio frequencies (tower, ground, ATIS, CTAF). You can filter by country, region, type, codes, name or city, minimum runway length, or search around a point with a radius, sorted by distance. No login or API key is needed.

Who is it for?

  • Travel, flight and logistics apps that need an up-to-date airport code lookup.
  • Aviation, drone and charter businesses finding airfields with suitable runways.
  • Data teams enriching bookings with coordinates, countries and time-zone lookups.
  • Developers who want a ready API instead of maintaining CSV files.

How to use it

  1. Choose countries (the default is US) and/or regions, and airport types (the default is large airports).
  2. Or enter codes (JFK, EGLL, DEL) to look them up, or a latitude/longitude to find nearby airports.
  3. Optionally keep only scheduled service airports or set a minimum runway length.
  4. Choose whether to include runways and frequencies, then click Start.

Input example

{"latitude": 51.47, "longitude": -0.45, "radiusKm": 60, "airportTypes": ["large_airport", "medium_airport"], "minRunwayLengthFt": 5000}

Output example

{"ident": "EGLL", "iataCode": "LHR", "icaoCode": "EGLL", "name": "London Heathrow Airport", "type": "large_airport", "latitude": 51.470748, "longitude": -0.459909, "elevationFt": 83, "country": "United Kingdom", "city": "London", "scheduledService": true, "runwayCount": 2, "distanceKm": 0.7}

How much does it cost?

Pay-per-event: a small fee per airport returned, plus a tiny per-run start fee. There is no subscription and no separate platform usage cost. For example, 1,000 airports cost about $0.30. Searches with no matches and error rows are not charged. Use Max results or Maximum cost per run to cap your spending.

Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets. AI agents can find and call it through the Apify MCP server. Output is clean JSON with the same fields on every run.

FAQ

Is it legal? Yes. OurAirports data is released into the public domain and published as open data files for anyone to reuse. It contains no personal data.

How current is it? OurAirports volunteers update the data continuously, and the files are refreshed nightly. The tool downloads the latest files on every run.

Is it suitable for navigation? No. It is not for flight planning or navigation. Use official aeronautical publications.

Why do some airports have no IATA code? Only airports with airline service usually get IATA codes. Small airfields use ICAO or local codes.
