Get official fuel economy data for 50,000+ cars and light trucks tested by the U.S. EPA since 1984, from fueleconomy.gov (U.S. Department of Energy and EPA). Each row covers one vehicle configuration, with city, highway and combined MPG (MPGe for electric cars), EV range, kWh per 100 miles, charge time, tailpipe CO2, annual fuel cost, five-year savings, EPA fuel economy and greenhouse gas scores, engine (cylinders, displacement, turbo), transmission, drive, vehicle class and powertrain (gasoline, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, EV, diesel, flex-fuel, CNG, fuel cell). There is also a link to the official page. No login or API key is needed.

Who is it for?

  • Car dealers, marketplaces and comparison sites adding MPG, range and fuel-cost specs to listings.
  • Fleet managers comparing running costs and emissions.
  • Data scientists and journalists studying trends in efficiency and electrification.
  • Insurance, finance and app developers who need a reliable vehicle spec reference.

How to use it

  1. Enter one or more makes (the default is Toyota), or leave the list empty for all makes.
  2. Set the model year range (the default is 2025-2027) and optionally a model, powertrain, vehicle class or minimum MPG.
  3. Choose a sort order (newest, best MPG, longest EV range, lowest fuel cost), set Max results and click Start.

Input example

{"makes": ["Tesla", "Hyundai", "Kia"], "yearFrom": 2024, "yearTo": 2027, "powertrains": ["electric"], "sortBy": "range", "maxResults": 100}

Output example

{"vehicleId": 50870, "year": 2027, "make": "Toyota", "model": "C-HR AWD 18inch", "vehicleClass": "Small Sport Utility Vehicle 4WD", "powertrain": "EV", "cityMpg": 127, "highwayMpg": 107, "combinedMpg": 117, "mpgIsMpge": true, "electricRangeMiles": 287, "annualFuelCostUsd": 750, "url": "https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/50870.shtml"}

How much does it cost?

Pay-per-event: a small fee per vehicle returned, plus a tiny per-run start fee. There is no subscription and no separate platform usage cost. For example, 1,000 vehicles cost about $0.30. Searches with no matches and error rows are not charged. Use Max results or Maximum cost per run to cap your spending.

Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets. AI agents can find and call it through the Apify MCP server. Output is clean JSON with the same fields on every run.

FAQ

Is it legal? Yes. Fuel economy data is published by the U.S. government on fueleconomy.gov as a free public download. It describes vehicle models, not owners. This tool is not affiliated with the EPA or DOE.

How current is it? The EPA adds new model years as vehicles are tested, often before they reach dealers. Each run downloads the latest file.

Why does a model appear several times? Each engine, transmission and drive combination is tested separately, so each one has its own row and vehicleId.

Are these real-world numbers? These are the official EPA label values, the same numbers shown on window stickers. Real-world results vary.
