Get Australian Government contract notices from the official AusTender OCDS API run by the Department of Finance. Every Commonwealth contract worth $10,000 or more has to be published there. Each row has the contract notice ID (CN), description, value in AUD, start and end dates, date signed, UNSPSC category, procurement method (open, limited or prequalified), the agency and its ABN, and the supplier with its ABN, town, state and country. You can filter by date range, keyword, agency, supplier, UNSPSC prefix, procurement method and minimum value, and optionally include amendments. No login or API key is needed.

Who is it for?

  • Suppliers and bid teams studying which agencies buy what, and from whom.
  • Competitive intelligence and sales teams following competitors' government wins.
  • Consultants, journalists and researchers analyzing Australian public spending.
  • Data teams building Australian government contract datasets.

How to use it

  1. Set Days back (the default is 14).
  2. Optionally add keywords, an agency, a supplier, UNSPSC prefixes (for example 43 for IT), a procurement method or a minimum value.
  3. Set Max results and click Start.

Input example

{"daysBack": 30, "keywords": ["software", "cyber"], "agencyContains": "Defence", "minValue": 500000, "maxResults": 500}

Output example

{"contractId": "CN4285896", "description": "Lentil Breeding Expansion Program 2027-2032", "value": 5375691.2, "currency": "AUD", "startDate": "2027-01-01T13:00:00Z", "endDate": "2032-05-30T14:00:00Z", "unspsc": "70140000", "procurementMethod": "Open tender", "agency": "Grains Research and Development Corporation", "supplier": "Australian Grain Technologies Pty Ltd", "supplierState": "SA"}

How much does it cost?

Pay-per-event: a small fee per contract returned, plus a tiny per-run start fee. There is no subscription and no separate platform usage cost. For example, 1,000 contracts cost about $0.50. Searches with no matches and error rows are not charged. Use Max results or Maximum cost per run to cap your spending.

Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets. AI agents can find and call it through the Apify MCP server. Output is clean JSON with the same fields on every run.

FAQ

Is it legal? Yes. AusTender publishes contract notices through an official open API under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia licence. The tool leaves out contact names and emails. Supplier names that look like a private person's name (for example sole traders) show as "Individual (name withheld)", without their ABN, town or postcode. This tool is not affiliated with the Australian Government.

Why are some descriptions short? Agencies write their own descriptions, and some are brief.

Does it include open tenders (ATMs)? No. It covers published contract notices, which are awarded contracts.

How far back can I go? Up to 730 days per run. The tool reads the date range in one-week windows.
