Get the weekly Commitments of Traders (COT) reports from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission for every US futures market: gold, silver, crude oil, natural gas, corn, wheat, soybeans, E-mini S&P 500, Nasdaq, Treasury futures, currencies (Euro FX, yen, pound), Bitcoin and ether futures, and hundreds more. Each row covers one market for one report week, with open interest and the long, short and spread positions of each trader category, the weekly changes, the percentage of open interest and ready-made net positions. There are three report types: Legacy (commercial and non-commercial), Disaggregated (producers and merchants, swap dealers, managed money, other reportables) and Traders in Financial Futures (dealers, asset managers, leveraged funds). Each comes as futures only or futures and options combined. No login or API key is needed.

Who is it for?

  • Traders and investors following how speculators and hedgers are positioned.
  • Quant and data teams building positioning signals and backtests.
  • Commodity and FX analysts writing weekly market commentary.
  • Fintech apps and newsletters that need clean COT data.

How to use it

  1. Enter markets by name (the default is GOLD), for example CRUDE OIL, E-MINI S&P 500, BITCOIN or EURO FX.
  2. Choose the report type and whether to include options.
  3. Set Weeks back (the default is 12) and Max results, then click Start.

Input example

{"markets": ["CRUDE OIL", "NATURAL GAS"], "reportType": "disaggregated", "weeksBack": 52, "maxResults": 1000}

Output example

{"reportType": "Legacy", "reportDate": "2026-10-27", "market": "GOLD - COMMODITY EXCHANGE INC.", "commodity": "GOLD", "openInterestAll": 396810, "noncommPositionsLongAll": 223724, "noncommPositionsShortAll": 37273, "commPositionsLongAll": 64109, "commPositionsShortAll": 279733, "netNoncommAll": 186451, "netCommAll": -215624}

How much does it cost?

Pay-per-event: a small fee per market report returned, plus a tiny per-run start fee. There is no subscription and no separate platform usage cost. For example, 1,000 market-weeks cost about $0.50. Searches with no matches and error rows are not charged. Use Max results or Maximum cost per run to cap your spending.

Use it through the API, integrations or AI agents

Run it from the Apify API, on a schedule, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets. AI agents can find and call it through the Apify MCP server. Output is clean JSON with the same fields on every run.

FAQ

Is it legal? Yes. The CFTC publishes COT reports as free public data through its Public Reporting Environment. The data is about aggregate trader categories, not individuals. This tool is not affiliated with the CFTC.

When is new data released? Usually every Friday afternoon (US Eastern time), with positions as of the Tuesday before.

How far back does it go? Legacy reports go back to 1986, and the other report types to 2006. Set Weeks back up to 1,500.

What do "net" fields mean? Net = long minus short for that trader category. For example, netNoncommAll is the net position of non-commercial traders (large speculators).
