SoftwareAdvice Scraper | Reviews, Ratings and Pros & Cons (2026)

1 URL. 100 SoftwareAdvice reviews. 39 fields per review.

From SilentFlow. Creators of Pinterest Scraper (#1 for β€œpinterest pins scraper” in Apify Store search) and Leboncoin Scraper Ppe, with 400,000+ combined lifetime runs.

Every Software Advice review of the software you sell, buy or compete with, one clean row each, with the pros, the cons, five ratings, the reviewer's industry and company size, the vendor's reply, and the product's vendor, category, rating and starting price on the same row. Paste a product link, type a product name or an ID, press Start: the 100 most recent reviews of Capsule CRM came back in 5 seconds on our test run, each with 41 data fields. A Software Advice reviews scraper with no account, no API key and nothing to set up.

Why choose this actor?

Reading Software Advice reviews 25 at a time, then pasting them into a spreadsheet for the next battlecard? Getting review text with no idea which vendor, category or price tier it belongs to? Stuck with tools that only take a product URL you first have to go and find?

  • 41 fields per review, the product included. A row is not just stars and text: it carries the title, pros, cons, overall comments, the reasons the reviewer chose the product or switched to it, the vendor's reply with its date, the reviewer's industry, company size, time using the product and how often, whether the review was organic or incentivized, the overall rating and four sub-ratings, and 13 fields about the product (vendor, vendor website, category, average rating, review count, starting price, currency, free trial, free version). On the default run (100 reviews of Capsule), 38 of them were filled on at least half the rows, and 34 on at least 80% of them.
  • Start from a link, a product name or a product ID, and mix them. Paste a product page, its reviews page or a whole category page, type the product's name, or list the IDs from a previous run. The name HubSpot Sales Hub, kept to reviewers from companies of 2 to 50 people, returned 30 matching reviews in 3 seconds. The category link https://www.softwareadvice.com/project-management/, at 5 reviews per product, returned 30 reviews from 7 products in 7 seconds.
  • Nothing to fill in before you press Start. No field is mandatory: a link alone, a name alone or an ID alone is enough, and every limit has a sensible default. The product ID 21946, and nothing else, returned 100 reviews of HubSpot Sales Hub in 6 seconds; the name Asana, and nothing else, returned 100 Asana reviews in 2 to 4 seconds on our test runs.

"productIds": ["21946", "27508"],
"starRatings": ["1", "2", "3"],

Accepted inputs

  • Product links: https://www.softwareadvice.com/product/27508-Capsule/, the same with /reviews/, /pricing/ or /alternatives/ after it, and the older shape https://www.softwareadvice.com/crm/hubspot-sales-profile/ (with or without /reviews/). Links without https:// or www. work too.
  • Category links: https://www.softwareadvice.com/crm/, https://www.softwareadvice.com/project-management/, https://www.softwareadvice.com/category/489-small-business-crm/. The run reads the products in the order the page lists them, page after page, and the reviews of each.
  • Product names: what you would type in the Software Advice search box (Asana, monday.com, QuickBooks Online). The exact name wins; otherwise the first suggestion whose name contains it, then one that shares a word with it. A name that matches no suggestion is reported in the log and skipped.
  • Product IDs: the digits after /product/ in a link (27508), the productId column of a previous run, or 27508-Capsule. A full product link pasted here works as well.
  • Company sizes: the codes A to I from the list, or a range typed through the API (11-50, 51-200 employees, 10,000+).
  • Dates: a calendar date (2025-06-01) or an age counted back from today (7 days, 2 weeks, 3 months, 1 year).

Entries that are not a Software Advice link, name or ID are skipped with a message in the log, and the rest of the run goes on.

What data can you extract from Software Advice?

Each row is one review: 28 fields about the review itself and 13 about the product it is about, plus the time of the run.

GroupFields
Review (3)id, url, title
What the reviewer wrote (7)prosText, consText, generalComments, reasonsForChoosing, reasonsForSwitching, vendorReply, vendorRepliedAt
Reviewer (11)reviewerName, reviewerIndustry, reviewerCompanySize, reviewerAvatarUrl, isVerified, isAnonymous, timeUsed, frequencyOfUse, reviewSource, isIncentivized, source
Ratings (5)rating, easeOfUseRating, customerSupportRating, functionalityRating, valueForMoneyRating
Dates (2)publishedAt, previousVersionsCount
Product (13)productId, productName, productUrl, productCategory, productRating, productReviewsCount, vendorName, vendorWebsite, productLogoUrl, startingPrice, priceCurrency, hasFreeTrial, hasFreeVersion
Run (1)scrapedAt

What to know about the values:

  • Dates are in UTC, in RFC 3339 (2021-02-03T22:58:31Z), so they sort and compare correctly. vendorRepliedAt is the date of the vendor's answer, null when the vendor did not answer.
  • Ratings are whole numbers from 1 to 5. A reviewer can skip a sub-rating: on the default run, customerSupportRating was given on 69 reviews out of 100, and the others are null.
  • Reviewer names are shown the way Software Advice shows them: the first name and the initial of the last name (Andy F.), or Verified Reviewer when the reviewer chose to stay anonymous. Full last names are never returned.
  • Review source: reviewSource is the label the site gives each review. Organic means no incentive was offered, Incentivized means the reviewer received a nominal thank-you, Vendor-referred means the vendor invited them. On the default run, 68 reviews were organic and 32 incentivized.
  • Updated reviews: previousVersionsCount counts the earlier versions of a review its author rewrote. The row always holds the current text.
  • Product fields are the same on every review of a product. productRating is the product's average out of 5 and productReviewsCount the number of reviews the site counts. startingPrice is the lowest plan price the vendor lists, in priceCurrency, and is null when the vendor shows no price.
  • Links: id, productId, productUrl and url are stable and good keys for a database. url opens the product's reviews page, with the review's number as anchor. Logo and avatar links point to the site's image servers.
  • Absent values are null, never an empty string.

The dataset has four ready views: Reviews, Pros and cons, Ratings, and Products.

Advanced usage

Sample every product of a category

A category link with a per-product cap gives a balanced view of a market instead of the first product read to the end. This reads 20 reviews of each CRM in the order Software Advice lists them, for up to 500 reviews.

{
"startUrls": [
{ "url": "https://www.softwareadvice.com/crm/" }
],
"maxReviewsPerProduct": 20,
"maxItems": 500
}

Follow your own product every week

Schedule this input weekly in Apify: with the most recent first and a 7 day window, each run returns only the reviews written since the last one, and stops reading at the first older review.

{
"productIds": ["27508"],
"dateFrom": "7 days",
"sort": "MOST_RECENT",
"maxItems": 500
}

Build a switching battlecard from long-term users

Reviewers who used a product for more than two years and still rate it low are the ones who explain why people leave. Read consText and reasonsForSwitching in the Pros and cons view.

{
"searchQueries": ["Salesforce Sales Cloud", "HubSpot Sales Hub", "Pipedrive"],
"timeUsed": ["MoreThan2Years"],
"starRatings": ["1", "2", "3"],
"maxReviewsPerProduct": 50,
"maxItems": 150
}

Hear only from enterprise buyers

Keep reviewers from companies above 1,000 employees across several products of the same category, to compare how each holds up at scale.

{
"startUrls": [
{ "url": "https://www.softwareadvice.com/project-management/" }
],
"companySizes": ["G", "H", "I"],
"maxReviewsPerProduct": 25,
"maxItems": 250
}

Feed a voice-of-customer model with the most detailed reviews

The most detailed order puts reviews with pros, cons, comments and reasons on top: the best material for theme extraction or an LLM summary. Export the dataset as JSON and send prosText, consText and generalComments to your model.

{
"productIds": ["5576"],
"sort": "HIGHEST_COMPLETENESS_SCORE",
"maxItems": 300
}

FAQ

What is Software Advice? Software Advice (softwareadvice.com) is a business software review and comparison site owned by Gartner Digital Markets, the group that also runs Capterra and GetApp. It lists business software by category, from CRM and accounting to project management, with verified user reviews, ratings and pricing. Buyers use it to shortlist software, and vendors watch it to see how they compare.

Do I need a Software Advice account or an API key? No. The actor reads the reviews any visitor of Software Advice can see, with no login, no account and no key to set up.

What do I get for each review? One row with 41 data fields: the title, pros, cons and comments, the reasons for choosing and switching, the overall rating and four sub-ratings, the reviewer's industry, company size, time using the product and how often they use it, the review source, the vendor's reply with its date, the date written, and 13 fields about the product, from its vendor and category to its average rating, review count and starting price. See the output example above.

How does the product name search work? Each name goes through the Software Advice search box, and the actor keeps the best suggestion: the product of that exact name, otherwise the first suggestion whose name contains what you typed, then one that shares a word with it. The log prints the product each name matched ("HubSpot Sales Hub" β†’ HubSpot Sales Hub). When you know the exact product, a link or an ID is the surest choice.

Can I get only the bad reviews, or only the recent ones? Yes. starRatings keeps the stars you pick and dateFrom keeps the reviews written since a date or within an age (30 days, 6 months). They combine with each other and with the company size and time used filters. Strict combinations can return few reviews: 1 to 3 stars written in the last year returned 2 of the 506 reviews of HubSpot Sales Hub on our test run.

How many reviews can I get from one product? As many as Software Advice shows for it. maxReviewsPerProduct sets the number per product (0 for all of them) and maxItems caps the whole run. Capsule has 168 reviews on the site, HubSpot Sales Hub 506 and Asana 13,744; 100 reviews take about 5 seconds.

Can I scrape several products or a whole category in one run? Yes. Put several links, names and IDs in the same run, or paste a category page: the actor reads the products the page lists, page after page, until maxItems is reached. Each review comes once, even when two inputs lead to the same product.

Why are some reviews from Capterra? Software Advice, Capterra and GetApp share one pool of reviews. The source field says where a review was written: Capterra, GetApp or SoftwareAdvice. On our test runs, 386 of 392 reviews came from Capterra, 4 from GetApp and 2 from Software Advice. The text, ratings and reviewer details are the ones Software Advice shows on the product's reviews page.

How fresh is the data? Live. Every run reads Software Advice at the moment it runs, so a review published this morning is in the next run, and a vendor's new reply shows up as soon as the site shows it.

Are reviewer names personal data? They can be. The actor returns names the way the site displays them, first name and last initial, and Verified Reviewer for anyone who chose to stay anonymous; it never returns a full last name. Treat the reviewer fields as personal data when you store or publish them.

Can I use it from Python, JavaScript or an AI agent? Yes. Call silentflow/softwareadvice-scraper with the Apify client in Python or JavaScript, from the Apify API, or from an agent through the Apify MCP server. The "Copy to your AI assistant" block above gives an assistant everything it needs.

This Actor extracts publicly available data from Software Advice (softwareadvice.com). It does not bypass any login, paywall or CAPTCHA. Users are responsible for complying with Software Advice's terms of service and applicable data protection laws (GDPR in the European Union, CCPA in California, and PIPL in China where relevant). Reviews carry the reviewer's first name and last initial, industry, company size and, for some, a profile picture, so treat them as personal data when you store, analyse or publish them, and keep only what your purpose needs. The data returned is informational: ratings, prices and vendor details change over time, so verify them before a regulated use.
