CARFAX Scraper | Used Car Listings, Vehicle History, Prices and Dealers (2026)

1 search. 20 CARFAX vehicles. 84 fields per vehicle.

From SilentFlow. Creators of Pinterest Scraper (#1 for โ€œpinterest pins scraperโ€ in Apify Store search) and Leboncoin Scraper Ppe, with 240,000+ combined lifetime runs.

Every used car for sale on CARFAX as one complete row: the price and CARFAX's own value of the car, the deal rating, the mileage, the accident, owner and service history, the price drops, the options, the dealer's comments, the dealer with address, phone and rating, and every photo. Our test run returned 20 Toyota Camrys around Los Angeles in under 4 seconds, out of 1,034 listed within 50 miles, with no CARFAX account.

Why choose this actor?

Opening car after car on carfax.com to copy prices, mileage and VINs into a sheet? Checking one listing at a time whether it had an accident, how many owners it had, and how long it has been for sale? Getting a list of prices with no history, no dealer and no way to search by VIN?

  • 84 fields filled per car, not 57. On the default run (20 Toyota Camrys near ZIP 90012), 84 of the 90 fields carried a value on at least half of the rows: VIN, year, make, model and trim, price, first price and CARFAX value, deal rating, every price change with its date, the loan estimate, mileage, engine, drivetrain, fuel economy, the full option list, the dealer's description, accident summary, owner count with each owner's dates and state, service record count with the last service, use type and miles per year, reliability and repair cost badges, the dealer's address, phone, coordinates, rating and website, the days on market, every photo and the link to the free CARFAX history report. The most used CARFAX listings scraper on the Store declares 57 fields.
  • Type the car you want, or paste the link you already have. Write 2019-2022 Honda Civic, chevy silverado 1500 or Ford pickup trucks in plain words, one search per line, or paste any carfax.com search, brand, model or vehicle page with its filters. Several searches run in the same job and a car found twice is saved once. In our test, one line with a ZIP code, a price cap and two history filters returned 15 clean one-owner Civics near New York in 6 seconds, cheapest first. The leading CARFAX listings scraper starts from a single link or a single set of filter fields.
  • Look up the VINs on your list. Paste 17-character VINs and each one listed for sale comes back as a full row, with its dealer, price and history, in the same run as your searches. In our test a VIN taken from a Dallas Ford F-150 search came back complete next to the New York Civics. The leading CARFAX listings scraper says it is built for search results, not VIN lookups.

Try CARFAX Scraper

Try your first 20 vehicles

Paste this input in the JSON tab of the Input page and press Start. It lists the used Toyota Camrys for sale within 50 miles of downtown Los Angeles, in CARFAX's best match order, and completes each one with its vehicle page: the dealer's description, the full option list and the history report link.

{
"searchQueries": ["Toyota Camry"],
"zipCode": "90012",
"maxItems": 20
}

It runs on the Apify Free plan. Each vehicle becomes one row of your dataset: open the Output tab to see the table, switch to the CARFAX history view for accidents, owners and service records, to the Price analysis view for CARFAX value, price drops and days listed, or to the Dealers view for contacts, then export the rows as JSON, CSV or Excel.

You have access to the CARFAX Scraper on Apify: silentflow/carfax-scraper
It reads CARFAX (carfax.com, United States) without an account and returns one row per vehicle
listed for sale: price, CARFAX value and deal rating, mileage, CARFAX history summary (accidents,
owners, service records, use), options, seller comments, dealer card and photos.
Input schema (no field is required; with no search, link or VIN it lists the used cars of the ZIP
code, or of the whole country without a ZIP code):
- searchQueries (array of strings): one search per line, in plain words. Optional "used"/"new",
model years ("2021", "2019-2022"), a make (short names work: chevy, vw, mercedes), then a model
or a body style. Examples: "Toyota Camry", "2021 Ford F-150", "Tesla", "Ford pickup trucks".
A carfax.com link or a VIN typed here is read as such.
- startUrls (array of strings or {url}): carfax.com pages. Search pages (/search?zip=...&make=...),
SEO pages (Used-Toyota-Camry_w630, Used-2025-Toyota-Camry_z39881, Used-SUVs-..._bt8_c4914,
Used-Toyota-Camry-Under-10000_w630_f6) and vehicle pages (/vehicle/{VIN}). Filters in the link win.
- vins (array of strings): 17-character VINs of vehicles listed for sale on CARFAX.
- zipCode (string): 5-digit US ZIP code the searches start from. Empty = nationwide.
- maxItems (integer, default 100): most rows for the whole run, across all inputs.
- radius (string, default "50"): miles around the ZIP code: 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 250,
500 or 3000 (nationwide).
- sortBy (string, default "BEST"): BEST, PRICE_ASC, PRICE_DESC, MILEAGE_ASC, MILEAGE_DESC,
YEAR_DESC, YEAR_ASC, LISTING_DATE_DESC, DISTANCE_ASC.
- maxPrice (integer): price cap in US dollars.
- historyFilters (array): any of noAccidents, oneOwner, serviceRecords, personalUse.
- includeDetails (boolean, default true): add seller comments, the full option list and the
CARFAX history report link from each vehicle page.
Output per row (90 fields, null when CARFAX has no value):
- Identity: id (CARFAX listing id), vin, url, title, year, make, model, trim, subTrim, vehicleCondition
- Price: listPrice, currentPrice, originalPrice, mileage, historyBasedValue (CARFAX value),
priceBadge (GREAT, GOOD, FAIR, NONE), listingStatus, highlight, priceIncludesFees,
dealerFeesTotal, dealerFees [{name, amount}], priceHistory [{date, price, change}],
priceDropCount, monthlyPayment, downPayment, loanApr, loanTermMonths
- Vehicle: bodyStyle, exteriorColor, interiorColor, engine, displacement, transmission, driveType,
fuelType, mpgCity, mpgHighway, mpgCombined, cabType, bedLength, stockNumber, topOptions [],
features [], otherOptions [], description
- History: noAccidents, oneOwner, serviceRecords, personalUse, certified, certifiedProgram,
accidentSummary, ownerCount, ownerHistory [{ownerNumber, purchaseDate, endOwnershipDate, city,
state}], serviceRecordCount, lastServiceDate, lastServiceOdometer, lastServiceDescription,
lastServiceLocation, useType, averageMilesPerYear, costBadge, riskBadge,
overallReliabilityBadge, averageRepairCost
- Dealer: dealerId, dealerName, dealerType, dealerAddress, dealerCity, dealerState, dealerZip,

How to scrape CARFAX used car listings

Three inputs, from the simplest to a combined search. Each one runs as it is.

Get the used Camrys around Los Angeles

The default input: one search, one ZIP code. CARFAX listed 1,034 Camrys within 50 miles of 90012 on our test day, and the run kept the first 20.

{
"searchQueries": ["Toyota Camry"],
"zipCode": "90012",
"maxItems": 20
}

Find clean one-owner Honda Civics near New York, cheapest first

Model years in the search line, a 100-mile radius, a price cap and two CARFAX history filters. On our test day 47 Civics matched, and every one of the 15 rows returned had no accident reported, a single owner and a price at or under the cap, from the lowest price up.

{
"searchQueries": ["2019-2022 Honda Civic"],
"zipCode": "10001",
"radius": "100",
"maxPrice": 25000,
"historyFilters": ["noAccidents", "oneOwner"],
"sortBy": "PRICE_ASC",
"maxItems": 15
}

Paste the page you are looking at on carfax.com. The ZIP code and radius in the link are kept. On our test day the link listed 1,710 trucks within 100 miles of Dallas; the run returned the first 30, each one a Ford F-150.

{
"startUrls": ["https://www.carfax.com/Used-Ford-F-150_w248?zip=75201&radius=100"],
"maxItems": 30
}

Accepted formats.

  • Searches: any case, one per line. A make alone (Tesla), a make and model (Jeep Grand Cherokee), model years before them (2021 Ford F-150, 2019-2022 Honda Civic), used or new in front, and a body style instead of a model (Ford pickup trucks, SUV). Short make names work: chevy, vw, mercedes, alfa. Model spelling is matched to CARFAX's list, so f150, F 150 and F-150 give the same search.
  • Search links: https://www.carfax.com/search?zip=10001&radius=25&make=Honda&model=Civic&priceMax=20000&noAccidents=true, with any of the filters CARFAX puts in the link (years, price, mileage, history, sort, new or used).
  • SEO links: brand (/Used-Toyota_m33), model (/Used-Toyota-Camry_w630), year (/Used-2025-Toyota-Camry_z39881), price (/Used-Toyota-Camry-Under-10000_w630_f6) and body style (/Used-SUVs-Los-Angeles-CA_bt8_c4914) pages. Trim and color pages (/Used-Toyota-Camry-SE_t479, /Used-Black-Toyota-Camry_s16_w630) are read at the model level: you get every Camry, with trim and exteriorColor on each row to filter on. City pages (/Used-Cars-in-Los-Angeles-CA_c4914) need the ZIP code field, since the link names a city and not a ZIP code.
  • Vehicle links and VINs: https://www.carfax.com/vehicle/4T1DAACK7SU201242, or 4T1DAACK7SU201242 alone, in any of the three entry fields.
  • ZIP codes: 5 digits, with or without the 4-digit extension (90012-1234).

A link that is not from carfax.com, or a text that looks like a VIN but is not 17 valid characters, is skipped and named in the log.

What data can you extract from CARFAX?

Each row holds 90 fields, in the order a buyer reads a listing:

  • Identity (10): CARFAX listing id, VIN, permanent vehicle page link, title, year, make, model, trim, sub-trim, condition.
  • Price (17): list price, current price, first price seen, mileage, CARFAX value, deal rating, listing status (price drop, newly listed), the highlight CARFAX shows on the card, whether the price includes fees, the dealer fees with their total, the dated price history with each change, the number of price drops, and the monthly payment estimate with down payment, rate and term.
  • Vehicle (18): body style, exterior and interior color, engine, displacement, transmission, drivetrain, fuel, city, highway and combined fuel economy, cab and bed for pickups, stock number, top options, the full equipment list, the dealer's own option list and the dealer's description.
  • CARFAX history (20): no accident reported, one owner, service records and personal use flags, certified pre-owned and its program, the accident summary, the owner count with each owner's purchase and end dates and state, the service record count with the date, mileage, work and shop of the last one, the use type with miles per year, and the cost, risk and overall reliability badges with the average repair cost per year.
  • Dealer (16): CARFAX dealer id, name, new or used dealer, street address, city, state, ZIP code, phone, latitude and longitude, average rating and review count, CARFAX badge, website, CARFAX reviews page, and the distance from your ZIP code.
  • Time and media (9): first seen date, days on market, the number of shoppers following the car, photo count, the main photo, every photo link, the window sticker when the dealer provides one, the free CARFAX history report link when the dealer shares it, and the time the row was collected.

On our default run, 19 of the 20 cars carried the dealer's description, all 20 the history report link, and the 20 rows held 661 photo links in total.

Output example

One row of the default run (Toyota Camry near 90012). Long lists are shortened here to their first items; your rows carry them in full.

Prices, fees, values and payments are in US dollars, mileage in miles. vin and url identify the car for as long as it is listed, and id identifies this listing at this dealer. Dates are RFC 3339 in UTC. priceHistory runs newest first, and change is the difference with the price before it.

Advanced usage

Compare several models in one run

One line per model, all with the same ZIP code and filters. Each search fills the dataset in turn until the cap, and a car that two searches share is saved once.

{
"searchQueries": ["Toyota RAV4", "Honda CR-V", "Mazda CX-5", "Subaru Forester"],
"zipCode": "30303",
"radius": "75",
"historyFilters": ["noAccidents"],
"maxItems": 400
}

Check the VINs of an auction or trade-in list

Paste the VINs from your spreadsheet. Each VIN listed for sale on CARFAX comes back with its dealer, price, mileage and history summary; a VIN that is not for sale right now is named in the log and returns no row.

{
"vins": ["4T1DAACK7SU201242", "1FTFW1E87PKF05934", "JA4T5WA91SZ002265"],
"maxItems": 50
}

Search the whole country for a rare model

Leave the ZIP code empty and CARFAX searches nationwide. On our test day it listed 189 Tesla Cybertrucks across the United States. With the vehicle page off, the run returned 12 of them in under 2 seconds.

{
"searchQueries": ["Tesla Cybertruck"],
"maxItems": 200,
"includeDetails": false
}

Watch the newest listings of a market every morning

Sort by newest listings and schedule the run daily in Apify (Schedules tab): each morning's dataset starts with the cars listed since the day before, with their first price, CARFAX value and deal rating, ready for a pricing review or an alert.

{
"searchQueries": ["used Ford F-150"],
"zipCode": "75201",
"radius": "100",
"sortBy": "LISTING_DATE_DESC",
"maxItems": 100
}

Pull a large market, two model years at a time

One CARFAX search shows at most 1,250 cars. When your search lists more and your cap allows it, the run collects it two model years at a time, newest first, so you get past that ceiling without splitting the search yourself. In our test, CARFAX listed 1,281 Camrys within 100 miles of Los Angeles and the run returned 1,273 of them in 34 seconds with the vehicle page off.

{
"searchQueries": ["Toyota Camry"],
"zipCode": "90012",
"radius": "100",
"maxItems": 1500,
"includeDetails": false
}

FAQ

What does this scraper extract from CARFAX? Every used car listed for sale on carfax.com that matches your search, link or VIN, as one row of 90 fields: the car, the price and CARFAX value with the deal rating and the price history, the CARFAX history summary (accidents, owners, service records, use), reliability badges, options, the dealer's description, the dealer's contact card and every photo.

Is this the official CARFAX Vehicle History Report? No. Each row carries the history summary CARFAX shows on the listing: accident or damage reported, number of owners with their dates and state, service records with the last service, personal or fleet use. When the dealer shares the full report for free, historyReportUrl links to it; on our default run all 20 cars had that link.

Do I need a CARFAX account? No. The scraper reads the same public listings anyone sees on carfax.com. No login, no account, no API key.

Does it work outside the United States? CARFAX lists vehicles for sale in the United States, so searches start from a US ZIP code or cover the whole country. You can run the scraper from anywhere; the data is about US listings.

How many vehicles can I get? Set maxItems to what you need; it caps the whole run. One CARFAX search shows at most 1,250 cars (50 pages of 25). When a search lists more and the cap allows it, the run goes two model years at a time to collect past that limit: 1,273 Camrys in one run in our test. Add more searches or ZIP codes for wider coverage.

Why do I sometimes get a few cars fewer than the count CARFAX shows? CARFAX's own page order shifts a little while you page through a large search, so a handful of cars can slip between two pages: in our test, 1,273 of the 1,281 Camrys listed came back, each one once. Sorting by price keeps the order steadier than best match. Cars are never duplicated, and the cap only counts rows you actually get.

Can I run several searches, links and VINs at once? Yes. All three fields take as many lines as you want and run in the same job. A car found by two searches is saved once, and the cap counts the rows of the whole run.

How do the filters combine? They all apply together. 2019-2022 Honda Civic near 10001 within 100 miles, under 25000, with noAccidents and oneOwner, sorted by lowest price, returns only Civics of those model years with a clean single-owner history at or under the price cap, cheapest first. A pasted carfax.com link keeps its own filters, and the form fills only what the link leaves out.

How fresh is the data? Live. Each run reads CARFAX at that moment: prices, price drops, days on market and availability are those of the run. Schedule the run to track a market over time.

Why are some fields empty? CARFAX fills a field only when it applies or when the dealer provides it. cabType and bedLength exist for pickups, certifiedProgram for certified pre-owned cars, subTrim for some models, windowStickerUrl and description when the dealer adds them, and history fields can be missing for a car CARFAX has little history on. Empty fields are null, never a made-up value.

Which links are permanent? url (the CARFAX vehicle page) works as long as the car is for sale. Photo links follow the listing and stop working once it is removed. Save the photos you need while the car is listed.

What is CARFAX? CARFAX is the best-known vehicle history service in the United States. Its site also lists millions of used cars for sale from dealers, each with a CARFAX history summary, a CARFAX value and a deal rating, which is what this scraper collects.

The rows describe vehicles for sale and the businesses selling them; owner history is limited to dates, cities and states as CARFAX shows them, with no owner names. Dealer names, addresses and phone numbers are business contact data. Users are responsible for complying with CARFAX's terms of service and applicable laws, including data protection laws such as GDPR, CCPA and PIPL where relevant. The data returned is informational; verify price, history and availability with the dealer before a purchase or a regulated use.
